    I’ve owned my 718 Spyder PDK from new, which I had built with a high spec. After 3,500 wonderful miles in it I had the chance of an RS build slot on the condition I traded in my Spyder. Eventually the Porsche dealer wanted £80,000 plus my 18 month old Spyder, which meant they were stealing mine at £70k. I declined their offer as it was a rip off. £80k more for a car that offers 10% more thrills but 50% less refinement in daily use. Having owned a 987 Spyder I didn’t want to go back to the 2 piece tent roof again.
    After a bit of man maths and much searching I added a low mileage “23 plate” lovely specification 992 Carrera T to my garage, for not much more than the cost of upgrading my Spyder to an RS. I’m delighted with my decision and now have 2 outstanding drivers cars that tick all my boxes.

    I own a 718 Spyder and I love the interior. I think it’s timeless and I love that I have proper dials and not the digital nonsense. Rarely use the PCM for anything other than satnav.

    "It's just a Boxster. it's just a Boxster." Right, then a GT3 is just a 911. The RS is arguably not worth the premium over the Spyder but to dismiss it as not being a worthy drivers' car based on its alleged plebian roots is rather elitist, don't you think?😁

    This is the best drivers car porsche made in the past 20 years. Its worth every damn penny. Its the car they never dared to make! Much more balanced chassis than the 911 and adding the GT3 engine just makes it sublime. People that say that you get most of the experience with a spyder they probably havent driven one. The difference is enormous

    This is not just a boxster! It is the first RS in the line up, it is the first time they fitted GT3 engine in a mid-engine setup, and it is the last NA boxster that marks the end of an ERA. I think the car is already a modern classic, and totally worth the money.

    I owned 2 Spyders last one was 000 (Brewster Green with Ascot brown interior) together with 992 manual Touring. After one drive in Spyder RS I knew I need one , it’s so close to GT3 but on the same time so different and gives you such experience no other cars do (for me ) , so 000 was sold and PTS SRS is coming soon. I agree with previous comments “it’s not just a Boxster “ it’s a Top Dog of Boxsters with RS badge !!!! You can always find Spyder but SRS will be hard to find ones production is done , forever!!!! There always will be new GT3 or GT3RS but SRS is the one and only !!!
    Great video , really enjoyed.

      @@FranzinoIMO touring over Spyder RS because fully engaged experience from a manual GT3 is higher in my pecking order than the PDK visceral & open experience of the Spyder RS.
      Although, I actually have both…I currently have a 2018 991.2 Touring and HAD a PDK 718 Spyder, but recently pre-traded it in for a Spyder RS allocation (coming in Nov). I loved my 718 Spyder and the RS was the only thing I was willing to replace it with. Both Spyders spec’d with 18 ways, so that it’s a perfectly comfy street cruiser whereas my Touring has the buckets.

    The 2024 Porsche Boxster Spyder RS is a highly desirable sports car with exceptional performance, handling, and design. Its lightweight construction, powerful engine, and driving dynamics make it a standout in the Porsche lineup. However, whether it's worth £150,000 depends on what you're looking for. If you're a driving enthusiast who values the unique combination of Porsche engineering, exclusivity, and the thrill of open-top driving, it could be worth the price.
    On the other hand, if you're looking for the most value for your money in terms of luxury features or everyday practicality, there are other options that might offer more in those areas for a lower price. Ultimately, it's a premium product that justifies its cost to those who prioritize performance and brand prestige.

    Great video. I’m an owner of a 718 Spyder and have had the gear ratio’s changed by Deman Motorsport (including over axel pipes). I love my car, it’s my daily, the RS is so tempting though… Should I?

    • @bill9629
      @bill9629 4 месяца назад

      YES, I had 718 Spyder, 981 GT4, 991.2 GT3, and now 992 GT3 (manual) + Spyder RS...no one of these cars provides the experience the Spyder RS provides...just be aware it should not be your only car

    • @4liter
      @4liter 4 месяца назад +2

      Nah I’d keep the manual and easier top. You can have deman do the 4.5 for less money than your upgrade to the RS and you’ll have more power

    Just took my 992 gt3 in for a service. They gave me the GTS pdk. What a good car. Only thing I’d say is the motorsport engine is a symphony. It obviously did t have that. But 80k it’s definitely a good buy. Its 4 litre works well with the PDK. RS does look awesome though.

    The Spyder RS is about as close to a Boxster as a Ferrari 288GTO / F40 is to a Ferrari 308. These are very special cars I did trade my standard PDK Spyder for a Spyder RS they are very similar to look at but so very different when you start to drive them.

    I was offered Spyder RS. I decided to keep my 718 GB Spyder with 3rd pedal. Mid engine NASP Convertible with a manual. No major company was or is making one of those that checks those boxes. I know I know Gordon Murray T-33 but they are boutique not major. So 718 Spyder manual is last of its breed - no Ferrari No Lamborghini No Audi No GM no Toyota Nissan, etc. But that GT3 engine was hard to say no to …😎

    Good review, I am waiting for this car to get cheap and it’s happening quite fast, esp after how soon the 4rs lost values and demand. I have the other cars u mentioned and that’s why this car looks interesting. But I can’t believe I am saying this, after having diff versions of gt3 and gt3rs I got used to that NA 4.0l at 9k rpm, it is no longer as emotional thrilling as I first came to know these engines. Great review about usability and practicality, that roof is such a chore and I don’t think my wife would like to be in the sun all the time with hair flying around (the midengines always have way more wind turbulence than 911s )

    The main reasons I love my Mercedes cabriolet is because the roof works upto 36 mph and it's neck scaff. I use it all year round. That thing you would use a few days a year. So it's pointless!

    • @bill9629
      @bill9629 4 месяца назад +2

      That's why you have a Mercedes; you look for comfort, etc.; there are 100s of cars like this, but different from the Spyder RS experience. The roof can be full down or up in 2/3 min, he does not have any idea of how to do it, and easy steps take only time; this is not a daily driver is one of the purest sports cars made by Porsche in years
