woah this is old 2007!!! it's cool to see what is similar and what is different. strange to think there's no expressway or anything either just the old state highway. They definitely have different sirens now.
Isnt strange when ur in the truck on a call out it seems like ur only doin 40 but actually ur going so damn fast..i love beening in the fireservice top career Job ever..love saving lives..thnx for sharring this xx take care
i drive past that fire station every day - quite cool seeing a little bit of what you guys do every day. that old beast of a truck could do with a bit more power tho :D
Most people do yield to emergency vehicles I feel here in New Zealand. However, those two cars could have been two selfish people as there is always some selfish people in any country but they also could have been people caught in the intersection already that were unable to stop.
@ghostliner45 The Van and the car infront of it on the intersection? They probably didn't have a chance to do much more than they did if they had road noise, stereos going, etc. Emergency Vehicles are not meant to travel particularly fast against red lights, the point being that it's meant to give them the chance to avoid those who aren't expecting to see someone come out in front of them.
@pd007fd New Zealand traffic lights don't have pre-emption. People are expected to give way (yield) to all emergency vehicles with lights and/or sirens going even if they have a green light. It's just stupidity.
@lcmortensen We have a law that says the motorist must yield the right of way to an emergency vehicle...but they don't always do that. I love it when the continue traveling along the shoulder of the roadway going past intersections. I guess they don't think we might want to turn into the street or driveway they are driving by. Be safe!
Can anyone tell me what is the brand name and model of that siren? I'd love to have one in America. It's unique and bad ass. It sounds like the NZ version of the PowerCall
nothing wrong with our firetrucks in nz this siren is the warble sound very good very loud nothing like you guys still using the mechanical sirens so boring

I suspect that's possibly a General Electric Powercall.
Good old fire truck. I think it was a manual.
It is nice to see people don't yield to emergency vehicles in NZ. It is not just New Jersey!

NZ seriously need to get some decent sirens, but she did quite a fine job of driving.
