Yeah, the guy even tried to treat the bikers with respect initially, but the bikers were just there to cause problems. Thank you for your visit, Phillip!
In relation to your statement, is it wrong to suggest that we need 1950s/60s organized mafia like this back in our neighborhoods? I look at all the idiots right now looting in Philadelphia or the past idiots burning down cities because of racial tension and think this shit would not happen in a mafia protected community.
@@myothercarisadelorean8957 bro I came here to comment the same thing as you. Respect. I saw that scene and I thought about how beautiful that is if you think about how they all United and protected the neighborhood. It’s crazy when you compare to it to any major city today.
And it’s vice versa. People that lived East Village where the original Manhattan Hells Angels clubhouse was used to say no one ever came in and caused trouble in the neighborhood.
I love how Sonny remains calm and says"Now yous can't leave" A very simple statement but it scared the hell out of those bikers. He didn't have to yell and scream to get his point across.
To go to an Italian bar, in 1960s NY, see that the bar owner is a calm Italian dude in a tailored suit, and still think you can fuck around is crazy. That’s the main part that I found hard to suspend disbelief for in this movie. Great scene though.
That's not justice, that's some kind of Biblical need for revenge in a herd mentality. They didn't do anything, they were just messing around, no matter how satisfying the scene is
"Look at me, I'm the one who did this you, remember me." No doubt, one of the coldest lines in cinematic history. Also, the choice of music for this scene...👌
Watched this movie with my dad when I was 14, one of my fondest memories was watching this scene and looking at each other and saying in sync, “they beat the PISS out of them.” I’ll never forget it :)
I like how the leader was the very first one to have that "oh, shit" look on his face, while the rest of his crew was still oblivious to the situation they put themselves in.
Few people know this was based on a real incident on Arthur Ave. When I was a kid growing up in the Bronx in the 1950s and 60s the news got around that a bunch of Bikers who tried to make trouble in Belmont got their asses kicked big time by some of the 'Boys' in the neighborhood.
I love how Sonny doesn't just order his guys to go into the bar and kick the bikers asses. He could do that but instead he's right there in the thick of it himself bashing heads. That's leadership right there.
This scene was edited from the original version. Watch when Sonny locks the door and turns to face the bikers his arms start to move and then there’s an instant close up on Sonny’s face and he says “Now you can’t leave”. The original uncut scene Sonny says “I asked you to leave. now you can’t leave” When Sonny’s arms start to move is when he says “I asked you to leave”. I don’t understand why they edited out that part of his line. It really made the scene so much better
"Now yous can't leave" sounds a lot more like it fit as far as ascents go and ways of speech for him it fits better said this way there, its just more inline with how mob men back then talked.
I look cool he was with the bikers in the beginning “spoken like a true gentleman” is an easy compliment that I use when I can. It’s not hard being nice and respectful. Bikers had it coming.
When a man in a nice suit tells you with absolutely no fear that you need to leave... you need to leave. He shows no fear because he has more friends in the room than you do.
You know what's sad is he gave them the benefit of the doubt and they went and pulled that garbage that's pretty sad. I felt he was generous in letting them have those beers without being dressed properly. Respect was paid back with disrespect.
Yes sir shits is so real not as many people in the situation I saw but basically the same thing happened and they had to pick there dropped fees up before they could even try to fight but so real

This is what I miss about the past , when you can do an old fashion ass whooping to shut someone the hell up so they never mess with people again, but now a days you will just get shot or stabbed .
"But now a days, you will just get shot or stabbed" This is because America has gone the way of Samurai Japan. Everyone's packing something nowadays for self-defense and how many many MANY people are living in their phones and looking for the event to post it on social media to go viral. Also not to mention the nature of reputation. NOBODY is trying to get an azz whooping and have THAT get aired all over the internet and be known for taking Ls. At the point, this leads to the motto nowadays that it is all-or-nothing and act like you got nothing to lose. This ends badly because with the way the world is turning, everyone has a short fuse nowadays because almost everything is not working right and they need something to last out against.
This scene is perfect with the song choice of come together in the beginning, drums set the scene. Soft angelic tone of 10 commandments of love during the violence. Plus the old saying that I love, “don’t take my kindness for weakness.”🔥
