This is still one of the best arguments in a film that I’ve seen. I love how they talk over each other and trip over their words. It adds the feeling that an organic argument typically has. This feels like a very natural breakdown between two old friends.
It's because it wasn't scripted, they were just given the topics to go over, the key points to make and then told to just go at each other. So it feels natural because it is.
Basically a well-dressed marauder boasting that he doesn't care about consequences, and thus, has no inhibitions about inflicting horrific damage on those who cross him.

Amazing acting from both Pesci and DeNiro. They're bickering but Sam is holding back and trying to be civil because he knows how incredibly dangerous Nicky is. Nicky just never realized how important Ace was to the bosses, he actually thought his thing could outdue what Ace brought to the table, which was consistency, quiet, and longevity. Nicky brought attention and distraction.
Which explains the meeting in the desert. Ace asked Nicky to get out of town to let the bullshit blow over so he can run the casino. Shit started to get real from there.
Yup. Ace was the goose with the golden egg and a huge money makers for the bosses back home and Nicki was the muscle that was sent down there to make sure everything ran smooth and other crews weren't ripping off the casino or ace. Everything was supposed to be low key but nicki went rogue and started drawing to much attention. Eventually the nail that sticks out gets hammered.
Nicky was trying to take over vegas for himself, he wanted to be the boss, he knew how important Ace was to the bosses, he just didn't care because he had his own plans.
"and I think in all fairness, I should explain to you exactly what it is that I do." and then the banker nods & smiles like he thinks he's in for some kind of treat, LOL!!! 😂
I show this clip to people to explain how a sociopath thinks. He literally would rather maim this civilian stockbroker and go to prison for it than accept the private insult of (as he sees it) being scammed out of money by a weaker operator. He doesn't understand how the civilian world works and he doesn't really care at all, nor does he fear any punishment the civilian world can give him. Going some sort of non-violent route would be easier, safer and actually save him a lot of money in the long run... but he's a violent sociopath. If you scam him, he physically harms you until you satisfy him. That's "what it is he does". The fact that he gleefully explains it to the stockbroker is why it's fascinating. He has insight into his nature.

Well funny enough Nicky was actually being completely reasonable here first by calling Mr. Clark then approaching him reasonably here and asking him why didn’t he return his phone calls. Even when Mr. Clark blatantly said Nicky would just have to get stiffed, Nicky just asked for his money back. Mr. Clark definitely was playing with fire here and should’ve just gave him his money back

Great scene, excellent acting. I don't think I'll ever get tired of watching this scene every now and then. And if there are Oscars for outstanding scenes in movies, the above scene sure does qualify. Regards, Michael M. Kamau, Nairobi, Kenya, 2nd November 2023.

“Th’ glass is half empty Nicky c’mon” “Half empty? Th’ f*** is wrong wit’ you? Where’s yer optimism? It’s half full Sam” Sam’s internal monologue ‘I knew what he wanted, Nicky was thirsty and he wanted my glass a water. Trouble was, I wasn’t finished with it yet. But that was Nicky.’
1:04 Best part about this clip is just how loud Charlie's breathing gets as he gets more and more scared of the mobster threatening him. He goes from casual coolness and the holder of power, to being a snivelling weak man reduced to asking for help from the man who stood quietly by and watch the threats. Brilliant acting
He even came through on a few things god seemed to be having trouble with. God couldnt do anything about my neighbors dog barking all night, but Pesci straightened those cocksuckers out in one visit!
"You know, I don't know what it is, Sammy, but the more I talk to you, the more I feel like you just don't want to go along with me."that was the turning point in Sam and Nicky's relationship.
Nobody does restrained menace quite like Joe Pesci. The way he says 'tommorow morning i'll get up nice and early, take a walk over to the bank, and if you don't have my money i'll crack your fuckin' head open in front of everybody in the bank' in such a calm way lol. So funny ^^
These legitimate business guys thought the mob was out of Vegas by the '70s, just because Bugsy Siegel, Luciano, Costello etc. were gone. Notice he laughs at first thinking it's a joke. He doesn't have any idea Nicky's really a gangster. He starts to panic when he realizes he is. Great portrayal of the mob in '70s Vegas, and how they took a lot of legitimate people off guard.
I know the whole scene by heart and have for years. The part I like is after the banker goes down the stairs, Pesci turns around, touches his belt line, and seriously asks Ace "You think he got the point?" - LOL. Yeah, I think he did lol. "You go get my money or I'll put your fucking brain to sleep" definitely helped deliver the point clearly.
This was well done and accurate for the period. Vegas people thought the mob was out of Vegas after Howard Hughes bought all the old mob casinos. He thinks it's a joke at first because he doesn't think these mob guys are running around Vegas anymore. The second he realizes what's going on a panic sets in. Well done scene.

@@alphamale1228 That's who I was looking at when I made the comment.
"Tomorrow morning I'm gonna get my shinebox and walk into the bank and make your shoes look like a mirror!"
Hes gunn shine his shoes? wtf? lol u have words fucked up
Kevin Pierce Ever see Goodfellas?
It's a reference to a Goodfellas scene with Joe Pesci, it's a funny one too.
I don't get how that's a threat or joke, sounds like he has a foot-fetish...
Good one mate haha
1:04 I love Ace's reaction. He's just like "ah shit, here he goes again!"
"Where's my head? Where's your fukn balls?"
Best line of the whole m0vie
Great scene, excellent acting. I don't think I'll ever get tired of watching this scene every now and then. And if there are Oscars for outstanding scenes in movies, the above scene sure does qualify. Regards, Michael M. Kamau, Nairobi, Kenya, 2nd November 2023.
great scene.
"you put my money to sleep. you don't get it back I'll put your brain to sleep"
They got all the money and they're total fuckin' shit for brains...finance personnel and corporate realtors.
I feel like I could watch Joe Pesci and Robert De Niro argue about any random topic for hours on end and not get bored.
Hollywood's 2 greatest actors ever. I am convinced. I have seen hundreds of actors and tons of movies from every era. Never seen any better than these 2.
“Th’ glass is half empty Nicky c’mon”
“Half empty? Th’ f*** is wrong wit’ you? Where’s yer optimism? It’s half full Sam”
Sam’s internal monologue ‘I knew what he wanted, Nicky was thirsty and he wanted my glass a water. Trouble was, I wasn’t finished with it yet. But that was Nicky.’
Watch the extra features on The Score DVD, De Niro and Marlon Brando ad-libbing together, fucking brilliant too.
It wouldn't put my brain to sleep.
SNL ICE cream skit with Pacino and Deniro arguing over ice cream LOL
"Did you at least tell her your little role in that situation "
"No I didn't, what good would that do, that's not the point" LMAOOOOO
These guys don't even try to be funny and we still laugh 😂😂 Acting Gods and what a director
This has to be one of the best scenes in movie history. You're walking around like John Barrymore!
With your pink robe and cigarette holder. Lol
You’ve been treating a lot of people with a lot of disrespect !
Two masters of their craft. This scene is perfect in every way.
Well put.
the bankers face was priceless when he was threatening him.
*face
My bad.
all good
Goes from smugjolly to face-to-face with the Devil lmao
for real, he went bitch-made real quicc.
The tension building like when he had his Sitdown with The Bobs
That’s not the best part, the argument is
I pray to Joe Pesci..seems like a guy who can get things done
RIP Carlin
"Pesci For President!", then.
He even came through on a few things god seemed to be having trouble with. God couldnt do anything about my neighbors dog barking all night, but Pesci straightened those cocksuckers out in one visit!
Nicky Santoro is based off the real life Chicago gangster Tony the ant Spilotro .
"You know, I don't know what it is, Sammy, but the more I talk to you, the more I feel like you just don't want to go along with me."that was the turning point in Sam and Nicky's relationship.
The investment in the "Jump To Conclusions Mat" went south and Nicky lost his money
Jason Jokerst 😂😂
Word has it Ritchie Aprile lost money on it as well, and he got the beansie treatment
" I HAVE PEOPLE SKILLS !?!?! "
HAHAHAHAHA
Hahahaha. Good one.
Nicky embodies the phrase, “We can handle this like gentlemen or we can get into some gangsta sh*t.”
We need to clone Joe pescis character 10,000 fold and have him walk into every bank he can and deliver that speech
ROUSH4203 r the krj jehjjj
Especially during the subprime mortgage melt down
He is also a anger issue having murderer though.
LOL
The clones have to give the speech in THAT EXACT SAME TONE too!!!! 😳
😂😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
"Cause I'm fuckin stupid. I don't give a fuck about jail. That's my business. That's what I do."
Pesci is a God
One of Joe Pesci's best scenes in his acting career.
One of many
His timing is amazing
These Actors played their individual characters SO WELL!
Each one held his own.
Just AWESOME to watch top-notch Actors!
Nikki never had the makings of a varsity athlete
He wanted to get caught. I've seen it before. Fucking Cowboyitis!
Yolo Swaggins
Cowboyitis, very closely related to fuckfaceitis, AKA Palmice's syndrome.
they find a cure yet?
Classic SOPRANOS reference.
Bad ass comment from junior soprano hahaha😂💯🥃
The thing is that you know he would do it. It's a simple scene but so well acted, and written.
"Cause I'm stupid, I don't give a fuck about jail! That's my business"!
Lmao. Classic shit
"...and we know what you do... you f--k people outta money and get away with it... that's what you do."
Ikr!! Menacing....
True friendly duel of a couple of the greatest actors to ever live. And for them it was probably another day at the office....greatness
Nobody does restrained menace quite like Joe Pesci. The way he says 'tommorow morning i'll get up nice and early, take a walk over to the bank, and if you don't have my money i'll crack your fuckin' head open in front of everybody in the bank' in such a calm way lol. So funny ^^
Thats rich coming from you... BATMAN!
🤣
I like how Nicky keeps mumbling all the way down the stairs.
fuckin' walkin' around in a pink robe...
And he ripped Spyder for being a stuttering, mumbling fuck🤣🤣
That look Deniro gives when Nicky says he’s going to crack the bankers head wide open. Classic!!
"Heh. What are you gonna do, strongarm me?"
DeNiro: *Collects ice nervously.*
“He’s a square guy for Christ’s sake , you can’t treat him like that. He’s gonna run to the fbi”🤣🤣
😂😂😂
i'd be the opposite, i'd wanna leave the country and assume a new identity 😧
Joe Pesci is brilliant.Perhaps even a little too realistic
You could almost hear the Plop sound of Charlie the banker s--tting his pants as Pesci is talking to him.
The way he struts out of that room. My god he is SO believable as a gangster.
Amazing actor
I THINK I WANT MY MONEY BACK 😂
Don Rozay You putted to sleep, didn't you?
I love the way he says it. lol
And being joe pesci, that's what you do when he wants his money back. That guy might be little, but he is intimidating as hell.
wow caps lock
YOU GET MY MONEY OR I'M GONNA PUT YOUR FUCKEN BRAIN TO SLEEP
They're bickering like an old married couple lmfao
No matter how heated the arguments were between these 2, it never came to blows.
If we had only someone like Joe Pesci who could talk to Wall Street like that!!
Weird? That is basically a documentary.
And to these tech assholes in Silicon Valley, too.
You Can Try
KillerFrank if there was someone like that and theyd be dead and id be happy with it
Cheetolini lifted all regulations, he did the exact opposite!
There IS no such thing as legitimate people.
@@rayjr62 Yes there IS.
Luciano=Salvatore Lucania😁
They may be still there in some deep way...
You'll never see better acting again absolute legends.
I love how calm joe Pesci explains what it is he does to the banker
Well, he literally explained the possible future which is why it is not just an insult

You know you're in trouble when someone says they don't care about jail.
The part when he did the cigarette holder gesture had me dying 😂
Ha ha yep
He’s walking around like fucking John Barrymore
so this is where the famous soundboard lines came from!
1:04 I love De Niro's reaction here. Brilliant
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Greatest actor of all time. Fuckin it😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
He eventually does the exact same face when Pesci was cursing at him in the desert lol.
He was like ‘Oh here we go again 😒’ lmao!
Martin Scorsese and Nicholas Pileggi. When they collaborate on a screenplay, you know it's going to be GOLD. Brilliant writing.
one of the best scenes in tbis movie. they work good together. two wise guys telling each other whats up without getting killed
A safe is just another type of shinebox...
One of my favorite scenes. The argument feels so legit 💯
"A fuckin pink robe and a cigarette holder. I'm losing control?"
😂🤣
This was well done and accurate for the period. Vegas people thought the mob was out of Vegas after Howard Hughes bought all the old mob casinos. He thinks it's a joke at first because he doesn't think these mob guys are running around Vegas anymore. The second he realizes what's going on a panic sets in. Well done scene.
The real trick back then, when Hughes bought the casinos was, he took the heat off the mob, and didn't realize it...
My cousin worked in Vegas years and years ago. She said it was better when the mob was running the place.
@@tonyennis1787 amen. Mobsters treat paying customers better than corporations
164 people didn't get the point.
neo11 It’s up to 229 people now lol
I like that look De Niro gives when Pesci starts talking to the banker, indicating that he very well knows that Pesci is going to crush the banker.
I have always loved this film, even when if first came out. Seeing this scene I now realise that this is mastery. Joe and bob create this electricity - wonderful acting, writing and direction. This is excellence folks.
Excellence it is.
It's extremely difficult to watch any movie made these days from start to finish, but I have watched casino more than ten times now, this movie just engulfs your emotions so beautifully
I have watched this movies at least 30x,
Undoubtedly one of Scorsese’s top movies. It just oozes charisma and emotion!
