Wikipedia - Billy Stewart hits the big time: Major chart success was not far away and in 1965, Stewart recorded two self-written songs, "I Do Love You" (No. 6 R&B, No. 26 Pop), which featured his brother Johnny Stewart as one of the backing vocalists with his partner James English, and "Sitting in the Park" (No. 4 R&B, No. 24 Pop). His idiosyncratic improvisational technique of doubling-up, scatting his words and trilling his lips made his style unique in the 1960s.[4] In 1966, Stewart recorded the LP Unbelievable. The first single released from that album was Stewart's radical interpretation of the George Gershwin song, "Summertime", a Top 10 hit on both the pop and R&B charts.[4]
The one and only Billy Stewart, he And Elton John they traveled together for a brief time in 65 or 66 .Elton John tells some really outlandish stories and interesting stories about Billy Stewart. What a voice. Entertainer extrordonaire.
Wikipedia - Stewart was 12 years old when he began singing with his younger brothers Johnny, James, and Frank as the Four Stewart Brothers, and they later went on to get their own radio show every Sunday for five years at WUST in Washington, D.C.[2] He was a graduate of Armstrong High School, now Friendship Armstrong Academy.[3] Stewart made the transition to secular music by filling in occasionally for the Rainbows, a D.C. area vocal group led by the future soul star, Don Covay. It was through the Rainbows that Stewart met another aspiring singer, Marvin Gaye. Rock and roller Bo Diddley has been credited with discovering Stewart playing piano in Washington, D.C., and inviting him to be one of his backup musicians.[4] By 1955, this led to a recording contract with Diddley's label, Chess Records and Diddley played guitar on Stewart's 1956 recording of "Billy's Blues". A strong seller in Los Angeles, "Billy's Blues" reached the sales top 25 in Variety magazine. Stewart then moved to Okeh Records and recorded "Billy's Heartache", backed by the Marquees, another D.C. area group which featured Marvin Gaye.[4]
@@RagingRinslac oh man it's really really sad... he bought a brand new 70s ford thunderbird sedan, which had a factory defect / design flaw with the brakes. driving from one gig to another, the brakes failed as they were driving across a bridge, the car plunged off the bridge and billy and his band all drowned. something similar just happened a few years ago with a young actor Anton Yelchin who played Chekov in the new star trek movies. He bought a brand new jeep. one morning when he was leaving his house to drive to work shooting Star Trek Beyond, he set the parking brake and got out to open his front gate. the parking brake failed, and the jeep rolled down his driveway, hit him and pinned him against the gate, killing him. in both cases, the car companies paid small setllements to the families in a class action lawsuit involving hundreds of injuries or deaths, and never admitted wrongdoing. sorry for the long post. It's just a really sad story that deserves to be told.
Not only Jay Electronica brought me here, but Just Blaze brought me here also.

If he only knew he was no fat boy too the women of this eara! He still stands one of a kind and can never be duplicated.RIP.
IF Billy had been built differently, he could have been on a Sam Cooke/Marvin Gaye status.
