I was 14 back in 1965 when "I Do Love You" hit the air waves. WOW! What a song for the acne crowd at the basement blue light parties! hahaha Just saw a doc on PBS about this wonderful composer, producer and writer. I was surprised to see that Marvin Gaye sang some background for Billy. Maurice White worked with him as well. Heartbreaking.. gone too soon But, he left a rich legacy that will go on.

Mrs. Jimmy Scott* I backed Billy up at the Howard blue angel ,and the BYRDLAND CLUB 14th & Kenyon with the TNT Tribble band ,and the tip top night club in maryland bass guitar.Billy really knew how to improvise and fill in the open spots when a instrument or the band took a rest.

Very Rare to find any video footage of Billy Steward the only other one is the Summertime Video footage where Billy is wearing a cowboy hat.

Yes, Maurice was on this session as well as Billy's prior hits. After this was released Maurice joined Ramsey Lewis.

I wonder how Billy got on when he went shopping. D'you think he spoke to the check out girl at his local grocers the same way he sang? Maybe that's why he's a bit chubby, perhaps she misunderstood what he said and gave him way too much food!
