I feel like instead of having custom abilities, why not signature weapons? Just make it upgradeable so it scales to endgame. Or maybe that's a bit too overpowered?

With all due respect. That sounds like absolutely every other mod in existence.
That goes against the mod idea in the first place as it would restrain you from using other weapons and if instead where accessories it would be like vanilla which is not the point.

This mod might be one I check out, just my only concern based on the initial impression... most these "races" don't seem to have been balanced for the actual game progression.
Maybe if the races had a "initial bonus" for the start of the game, then through out the game to the cultist where you obtain the final buff to your prior bonuses unlocked and a final "ultimate bonus" (that's right, not moon lord, the "ultimate bonus" needs a place in progression to shine I'd say)
