70s Retro TV 📺 Quiz: 29/30😃 Much better at getting TV 📺 programmes than characters!! The only one I did not get was “The Water Margin.” I only knew “Monkey” as I had seen it mentioned in other quizzes, but I don’t ever remember it on the television!! Thanks again for an interesting quiz. I loved being reminded of “The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams” and the hilarious 😂🤣“Goodies” wonderful!
Strangely enough, this is the second time 'The Water Margin' has come up in the last two days! I saw it yesterday on an anime site, as they've now done an animated version of it. (I got my love for all things Japanesy from 'Monkey' and 'The Water Margin' I guess!) I remember it mostly from the incredible amount of gore (for the time!!) on offer- where else could an eight year old get to see heads getting lopped off by Samurai, and it led to some great playground discussions and reenactments the next day! Thanks for the memories as they say... 🙂 🍄
@@stuviewtv Unfortunately not Stu- the original story is a 5-600 year old Chinese epic, but the TV series was a Japanese production, so the 'people' of today would say it was 'cultural appropriation', declare it 'problematic', and have it removed (and possibly hung, drawn, and quartered) straight away. 🙄 The 'modern' mindset is one of the reasons why nostalgia for simpler times is so popular- even young people today are sick of their own generation, and hanker after a past they weren't even a part of. Our culture has become creatively bankrupt, with studios just sharting out rehashes of old properties, and young people are increasingly realising that the original versions are *far* superior to the bland, soulless copies being churned out lately. It's why all these 'reimaginings for a 'modern' audience' are tanking abysmally and costing studios hundreds of millions of dollars. People have had enough, and are voting with their wallets. At least we have the luxury of being able to remember a time when entertainment *entertained,* instead of proselytised at you... 🙂 🍄
Ah 100% !! Get in! So many favourites of mine there. And of course I have a big soft spot for number 13 - he features on my channel a fair bit and I did a massive vid on my channel all about that show, the actors and all that good stuff
I didn't know Nation Wide, as I use to watch BBC2 when that was on. it was usually Flash Gordon or Buck Rogers staring Buster crab. some nights it would be Laurel and Hardy or Harrold Lloyd. all the rest I guessed with in the first 2 seconds.
I am like the bloke who got flattened by a steam train...I am chuffed to bits LOL. A (Bob's) Full House. Where the Water Margin came from in my addled old grey matter I shall never know. Obviously I've watched way too much telly. I watch hardly anything these days.😊👍
Ah yes. A classic Morecambe and Wise moment. 'I can't see you over the lid of the piano. Can you jump?' 'I'm playing all the right notes, but not necessarily in the right order.' How Andre Previn (or Andy Preview) kept a straight face I'll never know.
5 wrong. The Rockford Files, Little House on the Prairie (it was on the tip of my tongue), Life and Times of Grizzly Adams, The Water Margin, and Nationwide (kicked myself for not knowing that one). And I was a child/teenager of the seventies!
Wow, childhood memories. There were 3 I think I never got, the odenion line, the persuaders, and the water margin. God I feel so old remembering so many. You never hear folk speaking about Frank Cannon these days do you? I mean my 50+ boyfriend has kojak and Starsky and hutch cars. Poor old forgotten Frank! Monkey was something else! My brother still has the original single with the water margin song on the b side. 'Born from an egg on a mountain top'. Where was the Bionic woman? I loved her. Jamie Summers. Kung-fu reminds me of my Dad putting Ferrero Roche limited edition in his eyes on Xmas day and saying 'snatch the pebble from my hand' in a dodgy accent. Could go on for hours, good memories. Byeeee, Nicki
@@stuviewtv The incredible hulk was one of my fave programmes as a child. I used to possibly identify with David Banner and cried when he walked at the end and narrator said something like 'destined to be alone until he can control the raging power within him' Hmmm, maybe I empathised before I knew what empathy meant? Strange child I must have been. My Dad used to call me 'the incredible sulk'. Which would inevitably make me laugh and break my mood. Weirdo child!
Love this channel, but would prefer less thinking time. If you know them you need no more time than a Red Bull pit stop. We can always pause the video if we want more time.
The Water Margin? I've never heard of it, but it might not have been shown in our ITV broadcast area. Apart from that I watched all of them, but I only watched Monkey once, it was awful.
I remember watching the water margin but couldn't for the life of me remember what it was called I think most will remember Monkey with tripping taka pig monkey and Sandy
@@Nooziterp1 The older man with (cataracts) was Master Po, played by none other than Key Luke, who used to play Number 2 son of Charlie Chan (both Sydney Toler and Warner Oland versions if I’m not mistaken).

Forgot the names of the Water Margin and the Rockford files. But got the rest))
That was fun.😍
I think the only one that I remember that wasn't on that list was Sapphire and Steel!
I only got the Onedin Line because I went on the ship as part of a school trip when I was six years old and I recognised the ship. I'm 52 now.
I was surprised at how many American shows were here. Still I got many of them, an The Two Ronnie's is one of my all time favorites US or UK
Great quiz thanks very much I had 28/30, cheers Stu.👍
Great score Ken!
Missed The Onedin Line and Nationwide. Thanks for another great quiz.
Key Luke, who played Master Po in Kung Fu, played Lee Chan (Number One Son) in the Charlie Chan films; he was also a founding member of the Screen Actors Guild and also appeared in the Gremlins films, amongst other things.
Wonderful. Guessed in mostly the first sec all the shows which were shown in Pakistan
I love quizzes
Never watched, 'The Persuaders', so never got that one and, 'Nationwide', was a very, very lucky guess. The rest I got instantaneously.

I used to love watching The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams when I was a kid. Such enjoyable and gentle family viewing.

Can you imagine them showing something like that at 6pm these days?

I put number 13 in there especially for you as I know you are a big fan.
I recalled all of them,....but can't remember what i did last week.
That was sneaky putting in nationwide
Yeah, we didn’t watch it, watched the local news on ITV instead.
29 out of 30. I didn't know Grisly Adams!!! Thanks for posting.
I didn't know Nation Wide, as I use to watch BBC2 when that was on. it was usually Flash Gordon or Buck Rogers staring Buster crab. some nights it would be Laurel and Hardy or Harrold Lloyd.

My love of Laurel and Hardy came from those screenings on BBC2. Great days!
I was on a full house til nationwide! 29 isn't bad though. ..I really should have got out more..lol!
29 out of 30: didn’t know The Water Margin
Same here. Very familiar with the title, but never seen the show.

Used to love monkey magic the hulk wonder woman 👍🏻
I had them all correct, though I did struggle a little with Nationwide, then I recognised Michael Barrett.
Wonderful! Great times! Got most right but I struggled to remember the title of the series starring the two Ronnies!
It was " The Two Ronnies"
Whoooah! I have no recollection of "The Water Margin" at all...
A great series that was broadcast on BBC2 in the late 70s and then probably repeated in the 80s. Not sure it's been shown again since!
5 wrong. The Rockford Files, Little House on the Prairie (it was on the tip of my tongue), Life and Times of Grizzly Adams, The Water Margin, and Nationwide (kicked myself for not knowing that one). And I was a child/teenager of the seventies!
30 out of 30 ☺😊😀
Fantastic!
Is that the only existing image of Cannon? I've seen it pop up in a number of nostalgia quizzes, and that's the same picture they all use too
I think it's used a lot because it's taken from the opening credits.
Here was the narrator for Rocky and Bullwinkle.
Got all of them.
That was fun!!! Only missed 3 😁
Well done Steve! Glad you enjoyed it.
@@stuviewtv Thanks 👍
King fu and Cannon. Was all I got wrong. Never heard of em.
Yeah 100% had to use the grey cells on 1 or 2 though
Twenty six out of thirty . Good quiz

Wow. I got them all!
Being a Yank, I got all but one of those. The Brit shows only a few. 17 total.
That was a good one, named 5 wrong so not too bad
Nationwide was the only one I didn't know.
Great score.
29/30 didn't know the water margin.
What about The Man from Atlantis? Was waiting for that.

I may possibly be adjusting thinking times on future videos. Thanks for your support David!
I got them except 4
I got nationwide wrong, The Onedin Line and Cannon ( doh, I said Ironside). Now I remeber Ironside's face.
29/30 didn't get nationwide (we watched calendar on the other side )
Sadly…….30/30. The result of a totally squandered youth. 😂

Oh I didn't get nationwide either!
And meant to say that the Ferrero mints were in green foil which made Kung fu impression even funnier
