I HAVE actually popped off ALL of those clips and put them back on. It is not easy on the finger tips. Looking to upgrade the used curtains so glad for this video!
I like the zip tie idea. But for now, I just took them all down on the bed ends. Hubs and I are the only ones who dress and sleep in our camper, so we just close the exterior curtains. For the pull up curtains on the kit/ sitting side, they will be replaced. I can't stand that cheap polyester fabric that snags so easily. I just haven't figured out how. I'll get a couple perma press flat sheets for fabric, that will coordinate with the original cushion/valence fabric which are still in perfect condition. Curtain on the front window by the door will be replaced, also, has C clips, with a tieback in the center. Just wish we had a place I could leave it up and open so I could work on it. Our garage isn't that large, and our driveway is sloped😏 Glad I found you! Thanks for All of these ideas!
I've tried many of these ideas on several trailers, and I still haven't found a great way to hang curtains. But, this zip tie method sounds amazing!! I'm going to try it on my next renovation. Thanks for the idea!
I cut the old curtains off just below the part that was stiched to the clips and sewed the new curtains on to the old fabric. It was super easy. Struggling with how to do a gathered valance at the moment - with all the screws and spaces. Looking for ideas.
Oh my gosh, thank you! I am getting zip ties and curtain clips ASAP. I tried Velcro last year to hold up the curtains on our 22-year-old popup (still in great shape), but the result was sad indeed. They were flopping down upon us during a camping trip with our grandkids. I can sew, but I'm too lazy to do that before our vacation. Thanks SO much for putting together these ideas--and happy camping! Kids grow up too fast. :)
I have a few 3d printers and have been designing my own solution for this issue. I noticed those "Pup clips" from Etsy are actually 3d printed as well. I'm working on making clips that use metal snaps aka buttons so you just snap the curtains onto the track. I'm trying to find snaps that I like atm though. The ones I'm using to design and test out some test clips are made so the one side of the button screws in so I designed clips that have a raised area for the screw to go into. However I don't really love how the clips look so I want to try different button/snaps that have a shorter screw or have some other way I can attach them into my 3d printed clips. I could use magnets as well I guess instead of snaps/buttons but I kinda like how nice and secure the snaps are.
Curtains have been one of my biggest issues!!! Thank you for having many different options but sadly none of them can apply to our pop up. We bought a pop up where the top had come loose during travel and blew completely off for the previous owner. So we bought it cheap and rebuilt the roof. Unfortunately, during the strip out the old part of the portion the curtain track was thrown out! I could NOT find where to buy replacement track so I was on my own. Eventually we tried the Command Hook idea to hold curtain rods. Well, you are right that they do not hold in the heat...especially Alabama summer heat! So I am again needing to figure out what to do for this coming season. After rebuilding this camper and seeing previous water damage, we will NOT be drilling, lol. I have some ideas that I hope will work. At least you have some great options to choose from, lol.
What about tension rods? I do think they would have to be taken down though, so the roof can close properly. But maybe you could leave curtains on the tension rods, and just lay them flat on the bed end mattresses for storage?
Thanks for some good ideas! My dad has almost the same camper, layout is a bit different, but everything else is the same fabric and all 😝. I’m looking into beach theme curtains!!
Eliminate any clips, hooks or hangers by installing an insulated wire which passes through the curtains sewn end loop .fasten at each end and one in middle with a half curtain either side .my jayco uses this system for the door curtain.
I'm upgrading a pop up camper. I saw this idea somewhere on youtube. First I saved the curtain clips from the old curtains. The idea I saw was to use a hot glue gun to attach the clips to the curtain. Looks really simple and a cheap fix since I already have a hot glue gun. If that doesn't work for me I may try one of your ideas. Thanks for the tips. Just curious how did the zip ties work out?
The zip ties are good, they just don't glide smoothly.... Come to think of it, they never did in the first place. 😏 I wonder if hot glue will hold up well under extreme heat and cold. 🤔 Worth a shot!
I have not redone curtains yet but I need to. My son got sick on a trip when he was in bed, all over the curtain. I discovered in the middle of the night that those clips don't come off. I just had to rip the whole thing down. I do like this idea. Would make washing easy. The privacy curtain on our camper is missing so that's another thing I need to figure out.
Yes, this way would make them removable/washable! We ripped ours down too. I think there might be a way to pry each clip off, but then maybe the 10+ year old plastic would just crack.
When I redid our curtains I drilled bigger holes using a 1/16th bit and then the hole was big enough for my sewing machine needle to pass through-- but I like the zip tie method too!
I am so excited about this zip tie method!! Where did you purchase the actual white slider clips? I have seen some on Amazon but I am worried they aren’t the correct ones. Thanks in advance!
They did great! Is not the smoothest opening and closing, but it got the job done on the cheap. This camper was actually totaled over the summer, but we got lots of great use out of it before then and have now replaced it with another pop-up.
Our curtains were already blackout and we sewed new fabric right on top. Then used the zip ties and curtain clips over the original C clips. We do have a video on that in our makeover series. 😊 Blessings!
@@AdventuresinPopUps I’ve been wracking my brain to try to rehab the curtains. I redid them last year and I don’t like what I did and wanted to try something new this year. Was gifted 2 very large panels of heavy curtain panels and im going to cut them down and make all new curtains 😃 I’m excited to take on the project
Very carefully? 🤓 I suppose it depends which type of clips. That’s why we didn’t take them off. They should snap back on, just experiment with what works for you.
I tried the zip tie around the c-clip method on my ‘95 Coleman Fleetwood and they didn’t want to slide with the zip tie on it. I used the tiny zip ties and out the end put the end piece to the side. Any suggestions?
@@AdventuresinPopUps ok, well I’m hoping they will get easier with time and use. Thank you for all your videos on pop ups. It’s been super helpful for my family as we just bought our first one!! 💕
We bought curtain clips, but they snagged the fabric. We're looking for something else because our track is open on the bottom vs. the side. C-clips won't work, and because our pop-up didn't come with curtains, we don't know what to use.
@@AdventuresinPopUps The reason I was looking to find out how to remove the curtains is that the manufacturer had installed them wrong. The dinette table one was too short for that window by about 4 or so inches. They had the dinette curtain on the large window side (which is two curtains that meet in the middle) so I needed to swap them out. I lucked out, we just had to cut off a bit at one end of the plastic channel the c clips glide along, making space to slip the c clips off and then switch curtains. It took some sweat and tears as it's still tight at the end. They definitely won't fall out. So happy now, especially since I didn't have to buy anything to fix this.
Singlehandedly quickest way ever!

Great video! I appreciate the shout out. :) It's pronounced Kim (Peh-hee). My husband is Maori, a native of New Zealand.
Thank you! Sorry I butchered your name, that's why I added it in print. 😁 I don't think we will ever make it to NZ with our pop-up. 😄
Thanks for this. I'm a new popup camper owner.
Ty so much for the 💡 ideas!! Just bought our first pop up camper. So excited to revamp the inside.....especially the curtains!!
Congrats and good luck!!

Great ideas! We used the command hooks and they are working well so far.
Glad to hear it! We've heard mixed reviews. I think it's mostly weather/adhesive related.

Neat! I'd rather just remove the whole tape, and stitch it on new panels with a zipperfoot.

I have also seen people screw traditional curtain rods. The trick is being careful to screw in a solid spot, and not puncture or damage anything.

Hot glue will melt in hot climates. Even a 70 degree day in storage can get pretty hot inside. Then you might have a mess on your curtains.🤷♀️
Turned out so great !!
Thanks! Can't wait to put up the rest of the curtains, it's been a process... Almost complete.
They also make adhesive zip tie mounts or zip ties with screw mounting holes. If you didn't know.

will 60 inch shower curtain rods work or do I need to get the 70 inch?
It depends on your camper, I would measure what you have.
Zip ties!! Great idea!!

We sewed the bunk ends from a shower curtain on Amazon. We have a couple more curtain videos showing more info and links. 😊

I've tried. No one seems to know what was used in the 1988 Skamper ceiling track. @AdventuresinPopUps
how have the metal hooks held up...I am worried about metal rusting due to the moisture
Good question- so far, so good, but it's only been about 6 months.

Buy extra hooks... Re-do them or inspect every year... Camper maintenance is an ongoing hobby
The background music makes it hard to hear you properly and follow along.
Thank you for the feedback! We will try not to have so much.
Anyone know where to get the curtains like that I can't find them
If you check our tour video, there should be links to everything in the description.. 😊
@@AdventuresinPopUps I found it finally 😂 I guess you sewed the top yourself?
I tried the zip tie method but everytime I put a zip tie on the clip it popped the clip off the track. I will have to try another method I guess.
We have not experienced that- maybe it was a bigger/thicker zip tie? 🤷♀️
Take pliers and squeeze the round part of the clip shut.
Why couldn't a person just hang the curtain clips in the C-clip track? Would it not stay up? 🤔🤔🤔
Possibly. Knowing how much ours pop off during travel, I would think they wouldn't stay very well.
Too bad not everyone has c-clip. I have rollers.
