Its only really with the 40 series cards that the improvement looks like it is going to FEEL really big, but at the same time even today I struggle to justify spending 700 on a single component for a build...

My 1070 Ti was a great card for me while I had it. It played everything super well, at least until I switched to Linux. After switching to Linux, the card handled everything pre-DX12 really well. But anything that required DX12 ran poorly on it due to a hardware limitation of the Pascal cards that caused VKD3D (DX12 to Vulkan compatibility layer) to run slowly. I've since sold that card back when gas prices were super high and I needed the money to fix up a more fuel efficient car, and took a year and a half off of PC gaming afterwards (2022 was just a rough year).
It really was a great card, and I'm sure I'd still have it today if circumstances were different.
Now I've got an RX 6600 XT, which handles DX12 to Vulkan really really well and for less than $200 on eBay. But that 1070 Ti will hold a special spot in my memory as it really was the card the cemented my love for PC gaming as a whole.

I recently sold my super buff gaming PC with Nvidia 4080 GPU card and 32 GB ram. I highly regret doing that so much. However I've accepted that and bought a Mac Mini M2 Pro with 10 CPU cores, 16 GPU cores, 16GB ram, and 512GB SSD. I'm really not rocking those PC games anyway. I mean sure I did when I had the Alienware, but I only had 23 PC games overall. I didn't see the big advantage to PC gaming at all either, I mean yeah I did 1440p and 180 to 280 FPS on the Alienware monitor I bought also, but the graphics looked exactly the same as on PS5 and Xbox Series X. Also I'm a controller player, I've always hated mouse and keyboard other than being an excellent typist on the keyboard as I type pretty fast and very good at it. Those GPUs in this video, man they are old. I would say for those who want to get into PC gaming get at least the very very least a 3050.

Prices will never be more reasonable again. After Nvidia (as well as Apple) realized that graphics cards will still sell even when the price is over $1000, because people simply don't have a choice (AMD isn't better either), since then different rules apply. Keep in mind that after the crypto boom, we are also expecting an AI boom and very likely new shortages, so the situation on the market will only get worse.
As for the upgrade, perhaps the best option is to buy used high end gpu's from the previous gen, since they don't sell performance boost in this generation (only 4070 ti and up) but features.

Fantastic video. Back in late 2017 I was going to purchase a used i7 and 19 series card to replace the Pentium dual core 3.4ghz and GTX 760 I had in my trusty 2015 Haswell build. Just days before I was about to pull the trigger on a CPU and GPU, which would have been $400-$500, I got a phone call from a coworker telling me to go to Wal-Mart to buy the HP Pavilion Power 580-023w (the famous Black Friday computer which was an AMAZING deal). This Pavilion Power had an i5-7400, GTX 1060 3gb, 8gb DDR4 2400 RAM and Win10 on a 1tb mechanical hd for $500 dolla. For the price of just the used CPU and 10 series card I now had a complete turn key gaming PC which I still use to this day as a daily rig with the only upgrades being an OC migration to a SSD and doubling the RAM to 16gb. I LOVE this computer so much and the 1060 3gb, which is chickenshit to some people, does everything I ask of it. The only game that gave my 1060 any problems and started causing constant crashes is Final Fantasy 14 with a TON of high detailed and demanding mods so to get around that I play that particular game on a Dell Precision T5810 I found on the curb one garbage night with a Xeon E5-1650v4 and 32gb of quad channel error correcting memory with the only mods/upgrades on my part being a new SSD with Win10 Pro and an OEM PNY GTX 1080 I purchased used on ebay which completely solved the the DX12 crashes.

I am thinking about replacing my 1080ti, which I’ve had since 2017, but honestly it’s just due to its age. It easily handles all the games I play at 1440p. Some of these games are old, like Path of Exile, but it handles BG3 like a champ as well. So I’m waiting to see how the 5000 series cards look later this year/early next year (and what their release does to 4000 series pricing/what AMD is does to respond).

The price of new hardware has skyrocketed from previous generations. For example when the GTX 980 released, it was $449. Today's modern RTX 4080 launched at $1,199...
Their pricing has essentially killed any possibility of me wanting to purchase new hardware. I'll just buy used previous gen hardware as the prices drop on ebay. I don't need the latest and greatest. I want performance for my dollar and that's where the used market comes into play. When someone's gaming on their $1200 4080, I'll be playing on my $300 2080 lol.

As a hobby I build 'older' G.O.A.T.'s or rare retro 'Units' . The oldest being an overclocked 2500K, then up the generations ( all K's ) to newer, lol, TR 1950X, 6900K, 9900X's and other i9's on higher end Mb's. Still rockin' 980ti's in SLI, 1080ti's, 1080ti's in SLI mounted vertically, 2080 super's and my most 'recent' a 2080ti depending on the era of the build. As I don't play the newest AAA FPS's, they all work, and look, beautiful. There's something about the look of the CPU flanked by 8 sticks of 4 channel Ram. Having an excess number of lanes also comes in handy for loads of storage or multiple GPU's. Long live 1080ti's and 2080ti's with the, now relevant, 11G of VRAM.

Even Starfield and cyber punk run above 80 frames per second and I play them on high-quality or ultra. I have 16 gigs of RAM and MSIZ 398 pro motherboard and SSD 256 Gb and then my 1070 TI graphics card. The only thing that I’ve noticed is my graphics card does not support the LSS. But I don’t have any issues playing any games or any drop in frame race below 80.

Maybe it’s a different manufacture of the 1070 TI. I actually have an Nvidia it’s not made by a different manufacture. • @LifeChanger_._
    @LifeChanger_._ 10 месяцев назад

I do not know how you are getting those poor frame rates, I doubt the founders edition cards are that bad. I see a lot of 2023 reviews showing the 1080Ti as having very poor frame rates on modern titles, this is simply not true.
My ASUS 1080ti @ 1440p, max graphics, this is what I get:
    COD-MW2 : 103fps avg.
    Cyberpunk 2077: 68fps avg.
    GOW - 2018 : 82fps avg.
    Assassins Greed-V : 93fps avg.
    SpiderMan : Do not own.
Unless you are doing massive benchmark tests to get in a record chart somewhere or require ultra perfect aiming, 60fps is fine for general gaming and until my 1080ti starts to struggle at max settings, I'll keep it. I simply can not justify spending $2000US+ on a graphics card when I am still rocking a minimum 60fps on a 10 series card to gain an extra 30-50fps which I am not going to notice.
