So I forgot the B-roll of the handheld footage. But trust me, it looks great, so don't worry!
RGT 85 Dracula’s Curse was on a floppy disk and not a cartridge originally in Japan
Where is symphony of the night I would buy this if symphony of the night come with it?
@@Johnnyunitice Not on here. I think they said they are making another collection later on. Will probably be on there
@@renofheavens2 thanks for the info I'll probably still pick this up but I was hoping that the symphony of the night would be on there so if they make another collection will definitely buy that one
Why would you want your jump to be B and whip to be A? That’s backwards of what the original controls were on the nes. I wonder if the European shop version runs the pal version of the games or if they’re all ntsc because your footage looks like 30 FPS instead of the original 60fps
Be cool if square enix can do a final fantasy collection (ff1 to ff6) like this
That would be nice. 😀
Yeah that wont happen sadly, i hope they do that and i hope im wrong!
Couldn't agree more. It would help fund the FFVII remake.
What about 7 (the best one)
@@jasonschmidt8365 that already on eshop and other consoles stores
Hopefully Konami does a second collection with the GBA and DS games.
:)
Well they did the GBA part.
They do
They now slate to release a physical gba collection
Came here after finding out this collection is on sale for $5 on the Nintendo EShop lol 🤘🏽
Same! Picked up the Contra collection for 5 bucks also
I heard there's emulation issues like running at slower speeds than the originals, is that true?
3.99 now 😂
@@SuaveCityGeari just picked it up for 3.99 aswell so worth it
@@the_spartan4908 great deal indeed 😃
Woulda paid 40 for this if it came with symphony of the night
Zack Brescia I know right
And rondo's blood.
Man i would of bought it for Symphony of the night dumb quick!!! And i allready have Symphony of the night. This collection is not even worth 10$ in my eyes. 👎🖓
That won't happen for a long time. Sony has an exclusivity deal with Konami on those two games.
Symphony and Rondo are packaged on PS4 already for $19.99. Buy that along with this collection on PSN and you’ve got your $40 price point. 😄
Let me get a Castlevania GBA trilogy for switch.
Just get this
@@jasonschmidt8365 Nah. Don't like classic Castlevania.
Why not a Metroidvania collection?
as long as i dont have to play harmony of dissonance eww no wonder they forced you to get it with aria of sorrow.
aria of sorrow is all i care about. great game.
I wish the Castlevania collection comes out physically. That would’ve been awesome 👏
Should be in all honesty. If not, Limited Run Games may do it, depending on owner rights.
Agreed. I am a physical media guy and will be passing until it comes out on disc.
@Seckswithatoaster wtf
@@BigDaddyBeefBoy me too but it's only £3.99 now so I'm in
@@veganforever9703 it is comming to LimitedRunGames physically.
These collections they are doing I would love a physical release for these.
Brad DL contact limited run games. Maybe your get a reply! 👌
"But I want a physical game"
"But it doesn't have Symphony of the Night"
"But I don't like Castlevania"
3 valid points.
Playstation got a way better deal. And a physical release(I believe)
@@lay-lowandsmash1519 they dont have a physical release
@@lastchance3272 that's weird I thought a game box was on the commercial. My bad.
But the metroidvania castlevanias need a rerelease gba and ds games included.
This collection is just...kind of ok imo
Anyone who doesn't like Castlevania shouldn't've watched this video, then.
@@bradpaton3927 no ones saying they dont like castlevania.
Give me a GBA and DS Castlevania collection
Aria of Sorrow
Harmony of Dissonance
Circle of the Moon
Dawn of Sorrow
Portrait of Ruin
Order of Ecclesia
+ Rondo of Blood and Symphony of the Night
This would have been awesome...
Exactly.
And symphony of the night...omg that wouldve been epic
I would throw my gold coins accumulated on my account so fast...
We need a Goemon Collection. Do it Konami!
It'll never happen, and it bums me out. Imagine all the 2d Super Famicom Goemon games, the 2d PS1 games, Goemon's Great Adventure, the good Game Boy Color game and GBA Goemon all on one collection. And then all of the 3d games for the PS1, N64, PS2 could be on another collection. The Famicom games can get thrown in there as well. Now that is something that would nvr happen.
Wish there was a physical version of this. :\
There is now by LRG
@@markpugh6808 Yes! I'm so glad it's finally getting a physical copy!!
Yeah, they'll put Castlevania: Symphony of the Night in a second Castlevania collection much like the put "Bohemian Rhapsody" in volume 2 of Queen's greatest hits.
A compilation of rondo of blood and sotn was released for PS4 and other consoles before this collection called Castlevania Requiem. I don't know why more people don't know about this
My guess is that it was not included because SoTN marks the departure from the regular castlevania formula. AVGN basically put it best, although I will say I personally think the RPG elements are an amazing addition.
They already did. It already exists. You can go buy it on the PSN store right now. It's been up there with Rondo since last year.
@@kyler247 I know, right? I've been on like 5 other videos and it's driving me fucking crazy that everyone keeps whining about this, yet never kept up on any news or did a 5 second Google check.
I want to buy it physical, and they need to put Castlevania symphony of the night(Saturn version)
Nintendo 4life they said it’ll only be digital only. Plus the Saturn version is inferior to the ps1 version.
@@shantaehalf-geniehero4318 True, but the Saturn has an entire extra area.
Tinrib
Good point, but it would be even better if they ported the Playstation version with that section added in. That would be cool, but extremely hard
The Saturn version lets you play as Maria
RGT: "It's the additional content you get in this stuff that makes it worth while."
Also RGT: "Who cares about stuff like this?"
Lol
People here talking about SotN all the time.
Here I am, wanting re-releases of the GBA and DS games, which are too underrated by the community.
I just want Curse of Darkness
@@I_Am_The_Social_Reject I just want everything. I don't want Konami to ever touch and destroy the series, but at least make re-releases.
God what i wouldn't do for a Soma Cruz collection.
Can't wait to get this for xbox. Huge fan of all the games
I just put it on my Switch's Wishlist, but I'll wait to see if it ever comes down in price. I already own these games a few times over, so I don't need this right away. They should've ditched the GB games, and added a few GBA games, along with SOTN. Overall, not a bad collection, I just don't need it right away.
Agree, gameboy games were very limited by the hardware. Some GBA games and SOTN would've made this superb.
Sorry but I loved belmont's revenge (short though but was pissed it was never releases on the 3DS eshop). Had it already come out different story.
It's on sale right now for 10 euros.
It's on sale this week.
You can use A to jump and X to whip. So it’s fine. But I agree they should still allow button config.
I almost didn't pick up the title due to his button issues. Took me 1 minute to see X and A now no issues. Thx god there was that as a button select. Issues gone.
Yeah the patch seems to have changed to allow all games to configure buttons.
Super Castlevania IV is one of the best games ever to this day
Konami may be.... Pretty down in these days, but the collection looks pretty. Still, it would be cool to see Rondo of Blood there.
And i have this wish to see a Metroidvania collection, going from Symphony of the Night to Order of Eclessia.
took me 30 years to beat the original Dracula. with save states on the WII U VC. I beat Simons Quest in 8 hours.
You can beat Simon's Quest in much less if you know what to do. There's a hacked version with better dialogue floating around somewhere, AND a complete remake called Simon's Quest Revamped. Give them a try.
Meanwhile Konami can't even give us a port of the Famicon version for this collection. Hopefully they will after fixing CV3
Eric Lecarde well we bought it brand new - in 1989? And with no internet or guide - started at 8pm - rolled credits at 4 AM. Perhaps why I love that game better than most.
I beat the entire game in 3 hours
Would love to see a physical release ...nonetheless a great addition. Would love to have seen Vampires kiss added.
Simon King I'm pretty sure it would get added in the next possible Castlevania Anniversary Collection.
Yeah and castlevania legends.i probably wont buy unless they release a physical copy with the book would be cool. Bloodlines was cool. An update for control customization would be cool too.
Justin Eddy Their website says digital only so I don’t think there will be a physical copy
That Nicolas Cage movie? "I'M A VAMPIRE! I'M A VAMPIRE! I'M A VAMPIRE! I'M A VAMPIRE! I'M A VAMPIRE!"
I’m that sick individual who stretches their game out
I hope they'll made a collection of the GBA\DS games...that will be sweet!
That is a must, they are all awesome
That will probably get split into 2 collections.
Circle of the Moon, Harmony of Despair and Aria of Sorrow in one pack, then Portrait of Ruin, Order of Eclessia and Dawn of Sorrow in another.
There's no way Konami will give us all 6 games in a single pack.
Same
@@QuartzIsAnOxide But why not?
My first videogame (Christmas 1990) was Castlevania. To this day that's the game that holds the dearest place in my heart and I am so excited to pick this collection up. The only 2 games here I'm unfamiliar with are Belmont's Revenge and (of course) Kid Dracula. It looks like an amazing collection though and having classic Castlevania at my finger tips on PS4 is soooooo good! Great video as always Shawn! Here's to Bloodstained Ritual of the Night next month eh? 👌🎮
im a sick person who stretches the game out
I'm relatively sure that RGT85 is the lead singer from The Counting Crows. Obviously, he had to lose the dreads as they were no longer in style. Not sure why he turned to RUclips when his music career seemed to be pretty solid. Oh yeah...Castlevania is awesome.
Hey RGT did you try playing it with the NES switch controllers? I did and the controls were the same as the original NES versions.
Rondo of Blood is already out for PS4, alongside Symphony of the Night.
But not Switch.
Castlevania requiem. I love it! Preordered it last year when it came out. Its crazy how both games are super different but are both amazing!
Props for giving Belmont's Revenge some love! Very underrated game!
My small complaint might've been the aspect ratio choices... the default ones for literally every game besides the GB ones aren't my recommended ones, I typically go for the 4:3 Scanlines. Other than that, awesome. I should mention that the game SAVES your ratios when you exit out of a game to go to another one, etc, unlike the Arcade classics collection.
Can't wait to download this tonight on switch and PS4. 😀
It's Castlevania - perfect!
Castlevania 2 soundtrack is the best!
David Prodigy super castlevania is awesome too
@@Iceman-xe7jo ok, thanks...I'll look it up
And available in FM too!
@Iceman0113 Yesss! The ballroom where they have the dancing ghosts and the swinging chandeliers are my fave tracks!
Could not agree more! No game has ever matched the Simon's Quest version of Bloody Tears!
I like how difficult a time you were having w/ the Kid Drac, but also how you seamlessly ran with it in your review along with your looks, as if it you meant to die, ha ha ha! I really enjoy following your channel! My go-to for the latest in Nintendo content :-D Thanks for all that you do!
I thought the bonus book was awesome, so much information.
1 thru 3, the b being whip and A jump is definatly something u gotta get used to but its bc the NES was whip B on leftand jump A on right. Obv they werent at a diagonal lineup and were horizontally next to one another, but they mimicked nes controls and those games didnt have built in custom sets so it stuck. Going from 4 or BL my opinion the best here, to 1 or 3 is tricky.
For another collection of this, Volume 2 would have Rondo of Blood and all of the Metroidvania games from PS1, GBA and DS.
And the sharp x68000 game.
Got it for 5 bucks. One of my favorite purchases
I have all of these on my PSVITA with Save States, Better screen, better battery life....plus Symphony of the Night....best on the Psvita !!!
I just bought this collection last night off the market place. So far it’s cool to play these old school games. Its pretty hard but still fun at the same time. Will play in order and beat each game over time.
It feels weird to see literally see "Nintendo" on my PS4. The Disne y Afternoon Collection had all Nintendo references removed from the gallery but Castlevania has them all. Weird times. PS4 also has Rondo of Blood and Symphony of the Night.
The megaman x collection has something similar. Even if you buy it on Xbox or switch, it has playstation logos in the bonus trailers
Ori says Xbox Game Studios on every platform lol
LimitedRunGames just announced a VERY Deluxe physical edition of this collection with a physical book!
I have picked up the switch version, gonna buy the ps4 version for video footage. I love cv and really want to start a gaming channel. Also props out to Belmont's revenge! Most underrated cv title.
You can change the controller layout for all games in the Castlevania Collection.
Press L1 during game play. Go to Controls and map them as you wish.
this is great for the new guys and i can see what konami is doing, but for me, only bloodlines is interesting, but then again, we are getting on the sega mini console.....anw, will wait for a price drop and buy it just for bloodlines on the go....
I would rather have the japanese devilscastle Dracula x rondo of blood
And then the tg16 Dracula x would be great too, than symphony of the night.
Hoping for a physical. I'm going to wait awhile
It won’t be physical at all.
Konami has stated they have no plans to release it physically.
Where is Dracula X and Symphony of The Night?
Im actually glad they didn't have SoTN since it is a complete different Castlevania.
Looking forward to the the Contra collection.
I'm looking forward to playing this collection and hoping they do a second collection with Rondo of Blood and Symphony of the Night.
They already have one in PS4
Rondo and Symphony are a great compilation, i bought it on PS4 for 7.99. A switch version should be a given at this point.
For those that are wondering there RoB and SotN is, is that they are in a separate collection called Castlevania Requiem
This game is exactly what I wanted minus the Castlevania Legends Game Boy game. Next Volume most likely.
I love that Konami added the JP versions of these Castlevania games. The Japanese version of Dracula’s Curse is the definitive way to play that game imo. It’s slightly less brutal on difficulty, Grant has a projectile weapon now, & the extra sound chip makes an already amazing soundtrack even better. My only complaint is I wish they had added a convenient rewind feature, like almost all classic game collections have these days.
Turn your right JoyCon 90 degrees 😂
which Castlevania is better Circle of the moon or Symphony of the night.
I’m so excited to play this, I never played a castlevania game
P R 😂😂😂 luckily I have the excuse of being 13
@P R - what’s it have to do with being a Nintendo fan? I’m a “Nintendo fan” and I’ve been playing these games for 25 years, mainly on Nintendo systems. Did you ever consider maybe this person is just young?
Jim O'Brien This. I’m 21 and just started playing Castlevania a few months ago.
You should start with Symphony of the Night if possible. These ones are good but gameplay can be archiac at times. Symphony is way more modern friendly, and my personal favorite.
Owen Vail If you want a straightforward castlevania game that doesn’t have the outdated graphics, go for rondo of blood. Amazing game. Kinda hard for a new guy though.
Guess somebody forgot about remapping buttons in the system settings... (don't worry, I did too). Nothing I've used yet but something to try🤷🏻♂️
Not so much. Would be nice... if it was per game though. -.-'
I wanted castlevania 64
What a horrible night to have no money
Yet another collection that I wont be buying for at least a year because I'm like 90% sure Japan will get a release of it on cart.
yeah, me too. Since the switch is region free why not wait for the japan import
You know it's going to happen. I waited for the Capcom Belt Action Collection to come out. Besides, this would be what? A 2GB cart at most?
@@murdock94 prolly the japan card will also have a special game to it lol
Currently on sale for £4, an absolute steal.
I hope Castlevania 64 or Legacy of Darkness gets released. That game gets a ton of very undeserved hate and needless to say, is very underrated.
I got this on Steam. I was able to get around the controller issues. Hyperkin (the people who brought you the Retron 5) has retro P.C. controllers called "Retro Power" controllers. I have an NES one. It's an exact replica of an NES controller but with a USB adapter on the end. Works perfectly on Steam and the buttons are the correct way. Much easier to play the NES and Gameboy games that way. I was trying this with an Xbox One controller and it's set up the exact same way as the Switch. It was driving me crazy. As for the product itself, me personally, if I had a say in it, I would have dropped Kid Dracula and Castlevania Adventure for the SNES Dracula X. Rondo is just bundled with Symphony (as it should be) now, but Dracula X is it's own game, so I find it odd they left that one out. Also for consumers Dracula X would be a good selling point as you can get get Kid Dracula and Castlevania Adventure for like $30 or less a piece. Dracula X is like between $200-$300. Having that on here alone would justify the purchase.
I hope I can use the switch online nes controller for castlevania 1-3
Elliott09 You can use it for Kid Dracula as well as the GB Castlevania games.
You can - confirmed for myself last night, works great. Just can’t get to home screen with the NES controllers.
4:24 Talks about the games... Isn't that what we wanted?! Great idea
With the Contra games also coming to the Switch I would really want the Suikoden series get a release as well.
Thanks for the review! Aren't those controls the same as the NES Switch Online game? I assume it's so people can decide if they want to use B and A or X and A. I thought I heard you say you want to use A for the whip, but that would be backwards in either configuration, no?
Y (button)?
@@bradpaton3927 I'd prefer Y and B, but X and A are basically the same.
@@ecmyersvids I'd prefer A-Jump, B-Main Attack, X-subweapon, Y-duck, but I may be just a layman....
I hope they make another collection with SOTN, RONDO and DX
They already did a collection featuring Rondo of Blood and SotN. Twice. Once on the PSP (as bonuses included in Dracula X Chronicles) and then again on PS4 (as Castlevania Requiem)
Castlevania requiem says Hi
@@lannandogarcia4391 Oh yeah that's the name XD
Already have castlevania 1, 2, and 4 on my NES and SNES classics. Wish they would've put castlevania 3 instead of 2 on the nes Classic. Are the rest of the games worth the money for the collection?
No RE:Birth no buy.
No button config is a huge issue for me. It annoys me that even the Sega Genesis Collection doesn’t have it, and even the NES games on the Switch don’t have it either. For the 4 face button style controller, I always preferred Y as my Attack and B as my jump.
Glad you said something about the controls... not being able to change buttons. Not purchasing now.
You couldn't change the buttons back in the day anyway lol
On ps4/xbone you can change the button layout within the system settings
@@TimDespairBear11 yeah he still won't buy it tho
been super hyped for this collection since it was announced! sure I would've loved rondo and sotn to be on here but I'm happy with the included games... and the fact that we *are* getting the Japanese versions in later update has me excited... solely for the original version of Castlevania 3 with the improved music (which if you didn't notice, actually plays on the main menu!) the weird buttons thing was a little annoying but I'm used to it from nintendo switch online playing the NES stuff.
I can live without Symphony of the Night, Super Castlevania 4 is my favorite, I never liked the RPG aspects that were thrown in later on.
Yessss! Was waiting for this
I wish they would have released it in physical form. That would have been awesome.
I think they didn't put Symphony or Rondo
Since those games have some re releases under their belt already
Plus it would take a bit more effort to port or emulate rondo or symphony
Castlevania Bloodlines was rated GA.
Go figure. lol
my beloved CASTLEVANIA
so glad that it is on the PS4
just cannot believe another miracle such this have happened aside the Castlevania animated series and Simon belmont/ richter in Smash brother!
happy that it has that awesome SAVE system as well
Physical copy then I'll buy
There won’t be one, just get it. Digital games don’t bite.
@@peppinoandweskerfriendsfor3450 I don't buy digital games.
@@noretailforme Fair enough. I am kind of in between of this ridiculous Physical vs Digital thing. I buy physical games if they are $60 or big or whatever. If it is a collection of games or an indie game then I just buy it digitally. (I normally buy the indie game digitally first and then hunt down a physical version if I REALLY like it since they normally have cool stuff included with the game).
I hear ya, i hate buying digital copies because you technically don't own it. Unfortunately Konami has stated they will not be releasing it physically.
@@NJindypro I'm not too sure about the "Not owning" thing. It's not like when the game is taken off the Eshops digital shelves it like, has the game taken away from you. As long as you save it to the cloud or whatever, you should be fine. BUT if the game is taken off digital shelves, its over. You can no longer play the game. Scott Pilgrim vs the World is the most tragic example of this.
Good to see this was handled better than the butchered Arcade Classics Anniversary Collection, but there are still some baffling omissions. Like why didn't Konami include the Game Boy Color versions of The Adventure and Belmont's Revenge or at least have them as an extra color filter option? These versions were properly colored in and look much better than the original Game Boy versions with the included color filter. And where is original MSX version of Vampire Killer, it is after all a celebration of the origins of the series. It would've been a much more fitting inclusion than Kid Dracula and would've made it an instant buy for me.
No Metroidvanias
No physical release
No sale
Currently £4 in the eShop January sale!
All so is did they anounce what the rest of contra games are
Excellent lets play RGT 85. I had too get this Collection, The Castlevania Games was a major part of my childhood. Super Castlevania the best Castlevania game bar none and Bloodlines is one of the best aswell, Kid Dracula is cool too see on the Collection and the NES games are fantastic also, ashame about the GB Castlevania Titles letting the Collection down tho but overall guys a great Castlevania Collection. Man i wish there was a physical version tho even if it was only for the Switch, that would have been the icing on the cake :-D.
I like when youre just starting to get the best of Dracula and Simon's theme kicks in
I am happy that this is a thing. Also, finally, Bloodlines is now re release on a system. Only console that was released, without resorting to emulators, was the Genesis/Megadrive.
This looks cool. A physical release would be nice, but not a deal breaker. A second one with some of the GBA games or the Adventure remake on Wiiware would be awesome
That's why I'm hoping this sells very well. We definitely deserve rondo of blood, symphony of the night, CV chronicles and the three gba games (also hoping for the ds ports as well).
I would get if it included Rondo of Blood and Symphony of the Night but as Always they want to just sell the older ones they believe no one would buy individually
TheBrazilRules they literally released those 2 last year as Castlevania Requiem
I've had a couple of problems with mine. There's a weird little beep that the original Castlevania makes a bunch. Heard it the most in Medusa's levels, but I can live with it. Unfortunately, the game later FROZE WHILE I WAS FIGHTING DRACULA and I had to start over FROM THE BEGINNING. So now, even though I can play through the game in one sitting, I make sure to make save states anyway.
Grabbing my copy when I get back from traveling. CastleVania, welcome back, we missed you!!!!! 😁
put a lot hours into Simon's Quest as a kid. It's the deepest of the bunch if you're willing to invest yourself. It paved the way for sotn and dawn of sorrows mechanics.
Can you use the NES controllers for the switch on these games?
Did anyone else notice on the very last page of the Collection Book at the end?
It references the Copyrights of PlayStation, PS2, Game Boy Advance, etc; systems that have Castlevania games NOT in this Collection. Updates? DLC? Dunno, but it's interesting.
They need to do a collection with just the GBA games and SOTN Those are my favorites. I would love to play the GBA games in HD on a big screen.
Well you're in luck!
4 words... SYMPHONY OF THE NIGHT
3 words, WHERE IS IT
