    The Ariel views of Melb are stunning. In the night, she is really beautiful. This is how I like to see Melbourne in all of her glory. Not just an image of Flinders St station or Federation Square. Melbourne is not just defined by these 2 things. She encompasses much more. These images show exactly that.
    All Cities in each State and or Territory are beautiful in their own right. Appreciate each and every one of them. As this is Australia and we are proud of where we live.. ❤️🇦🇺

    I am a Melbournian and I have no problem telling people coming to Australia who want to know where to visit and what they will see and be able to do when about ANYWHERE in Australia without say this place is better than that. Maybe it started with Sydney resenting the fact that Melbourne was once the richest city in the World, who knows. It as a long time ago and should be left in the past. Both cities have their good points and bad. Sydney is a city I have enjoyed visiting for business and leisure, and Melbourne, well we really don’t care what Sydney thinks of us and hopefully they think the same way.

    Melbourne has best city skyline by a long way - I also think Melbourne has grander historic buildings - not shown here. There is something quaint and alluring the way Melbourne hugs the Yarra, and the many low bridges and high rises either side give it more impact than Brisbane (say) There is no doubt that Sydney has a picturesque harbour, the envy the world over - its natural beauty is unsurpassed - and the eastern suburbs to Bondi/Coogee and the northern suburbs have there moments as well
    But when you sum it all up including the beautiful Albert park lake, the world renowned sporting precinct, the miles and mile of suburbs hugging the bay, the gardens, the culture and just the general vibe…. Melbourne is the best city
    It is also overtaking Sydney rapidly imo in generating that big city feel --it’s cbd looks much more impressive

    Melbourne has a fantastic skyline these days, that's for sure. It was always pretty impressive anyway, but it wasn't as grand and dominating as Sydney's, nor as lit up with signage as say North Sydney or Perth. That has changed, it has a mighty skyline these days, and the views coming across the Westgate or, driving up the Nepean Hwy are fantastic.
    The only thing that seems to have not progressed in Melbourne, is the street activation in the city centre. If anything, it seems to have gone backwards. When I worked there in the 90's, the city seemed more alive with more going on. Now it seems to have lost something. Maybe it's where all the new skyscrapers are, but the street life hasn't developed and caught up with yet.
    Chapel and Toorak intersection in South Yarra with it's own little cluster of highrises seems to have managed to retained its street activity, and of course the other major street scenes in Fitzroy etc are still great.
    Tough to say which skyline or city is the best in Oz. They all offer something different. Something for everyone.
    Still hoping for a Perth video Big Jay! This one is great btw!

      @skiphouston7392 Год назад

      @Wattsy No pre-covid. it's all in your POV, but to me central Melbourne is nowhere near as busy or as interesting as it once was. There seems to be something that is missing in terms of vibe. But then I remember Fitzroy St in the 80's making the Fitzroy St of the 2000's look like a ghost town in comparison. It was nice, but it was dull.

  • @Skybar23
    @Skybar23 Год назад +2

    Melbourne buildings in the city seems so sporadic like urban panners just pick random places to build a high rise, sky scraper whereas in Sydney is more calculated and planned to the point tall high rises are built within the city boundaries creating a more densely compacted yet uniform city scape. But Architecture wise-Melbourne recent tall buildings are more futuristic looking's and more bold...whereas Sydney is scared to build something that stands out.

    • @mickanvonfootscraymarket5520
      @mickanvonfootscraymarket5520 Год назад +1

      Zoning laws have historically kept taller building to the East and West of the central business district, keeping the Swanston St spine at a lower scale. If you look at photos of Melbourne's skyline in the 90s, you can observe this divide. The reason for this, was to ensure for a low-medium rise, European style grain of density.
      Since the 90s, Melbourne's Southbank Precinct (south of the Yarra river) has been transformed from an industrial precinct to a dense urban pocket. Thus why the skyscrapers in the precinct appear spread out.
      There is a defintely a method to the madness of Melbourne's development, and it all follows a simple rule of maintaining favourable density.

      It isn’t but I’m sorry you haven’t discovered that yet.
      The CBD isn’t bigger either, nor has more historic buildings. It simply couldn’t as Sydney pre-dates Melbourne by around 100 years.
      Sydney is at least 15 cities in one.
      Immerse yourself in Parramatta, Burwood, Hurstville, Chatswood, Cabramatta, Hunters Hill, Manly, Bondi, Randwick, Balmain, Auburn, Fairfield, Vaucluse, Blacktown, Newtown, Enmore, Cronulla, Harris Park, Palm Beach, Penrith, Camden, the Hills District, etc.. amongst so many, and you will see how incredibly diverse Sydney is.
      Fly in tourists from Melbourne who stay only in the CBD see the sparkling harbour and get jealous but then look at the skyline and have an irrelevant, juvenile pissing contest.
      Melbourne is superb and thoroughly different from Sydney by now. It has so many things that are unique and incomparable that we need to stop this nonsensical, competitive nonsense.
