as somebody who grew up in melbourne when it was nothing, i used to dream of seeing the city flourish like this, but in reality it really feels like it has lost its soul these days and has become a very impersonal feeling kind of place to be honest
I feel like it hasnt living in melbourne it feels like it has but when you visit somewhere in america you start to realise how lucky we are to have the diffirent ranges of food.
I think the images at 9:11 for 383 La Trobe Street are not all the same building. The first one yes. But the other ones seem to be concept art for a building in Sydney. You can see Sydney's Tower Eye and Town Hall Building in the background.
Twenty seconds in, and I want to note some corrections. 1.) As of late last year, Melbourne is now the biggest city in AUS. this was recognised after the video was posted earlier in 2023. 2.) it's MELB-BURN. not mel-born.
"Australia's second biggest city..." Ugh... There have been quite a few articles lately that have explained that Sydney has used bogus numbers to appear as the biggest city when in fact Melbourne is the bigger city.
I left you a link to a Sydney Morning Herald article explaining in detail what I argued in my comment. It was taken down. But if you’re genuinely interested, Google this: is melbourne already bigger than sydney? Then scroll down the the SMH article of the same name.
Sydney certainly still looks considerably bigger. There are even suburbs with a considerable amount of skyscrapers. Melbourne's skyline is certainly looking more modern than Sydney's these days.
No-one in Australia pronounces either city in the manner you've adopted in this video. Sure, if I visited Melbourne FL (actually named after Melbourne VIC fwiw) or Brisbane CA, I would need to adopt your pronunciation. I wont bore you with the details - there are scores of videos from Americans and Canadians who have visited both cities and made the adjustment..
Nice info. Thanks. (Horrendous pronunciations! 🤪 some nice attempts….The pronunciation of Melbourne and Brisbane is closer to ‘Melbun’ and ‘Brisbun’. [Seafarers is on Flinders Street not Finders Street.])
Melborn used to be a great city. People were very friendly to each other, and quality of life was good. Now it's a dangerous, overpopulated shit hole, with its key feature being those that own property and exotic cars, and those that don't. Quality of life considerably diluted now. Best not to speak to anyone, or help anyone, you might get robbed or slashed or urinated on. It's a city worth staying away from. And almost none of these projects have, or will ever happen. And it's pronounced Mel Burn, not Mel Born.
Most of these blgs look pretty boring. I am also wondering how many of these commercial blgs will get built considering so many ppl are working frm home nowadays.
well what do you propose we do? create a new planning rule, which dictates that new developments must not look like anything else done prior in the world? I mean we could lobby to the planning minister?
The sheer volume of new highrises isn't so much the issue for me. It's the way the vast majority of them are clustered in the existing CBD and surrounding inner suburbs. Melbourne needs to decentralise itself and build more secondary Box Hill kind of CBD's in the suburbs. That's how many large cities operate.
Melbourne has by far the best skyline in Australia.
Yes by far for sure
Melbourne is now the largest city in Australia.
it is now, or a year ago when you wrote this but this video in 2 years old so at the time it was seconed biggest
as somebody who grew up in melbourne when it was nothing, i used to dream of seeing the city flourish like this, but in reality it really feels like it has lost its soul these days and has become a very impersonal feeling kind of place to be honest

The first building shown was finished in 2021 if not 2020

But both cities are australian, so there is nothing to argue about.
technically melbourne is now the biggest, with the addition of melton into greater melbourne, no need for sydneys bogus numbers
Sydney certainly still looks considerably bigger. There are even suburbs with a considerable amount of skyscrapers.
Melbourne's skyline is certainly looking more modern than Sydney's these days.
Don't let 25-35 Power Street be forgotten!
Melbourne square is already Bean built

As of 2024, Melbourne is the largest city in Australia.

You said it like Mel-born 😂 it’s Melbourne and Brisbane isn’t Bris-bain lol
Why do commenters think this video has a human voice-over? It's AI generated.....and it's also 2024 so no humans required.
Nice info. Thanks. (Horrendous pronunciations! 🤪 some nice attempts….The pronunciation of Melbourne and Brisbane is closer to ‘Melbun’ and ‘Brisbun’. [Seafarers is on Flinders Street not Finders Street.])
Mel-,bn, not Mel- born
OMG you're doing my head in - Americans 🤦♀️

A couple of buildings are finished and some are already underway. I'm also pretty sure that most of Australians have gone back to work too..... 🤪
Change the way u say melbounre kts not melb0rn
Yarra not Yurra, Burk not Bork.
Melbourne will become Australia's largest city by population in 2030!!
Yeah full of Asians
It already is. Surpassed Sydney!
@@maz1699 Wrong, thats just a technicality with the definition of urban area. The Sydney metro has around 250k more people
Did he say... mel-borne
And brizz banez
Nooo 😂
You pronounced nearly every Australian name in this wrong.
Australia: Khong girl xin sperms. No. Huy het roi.
im gonna lose my shit if I have to listen to this guy say melbourne and brisbane ever again
Wirrundjeri is pronounced as wii-run-jury
Hardly any Aussies will be living in these.. All for Chinese
I think you nailed it.
It’s pronounced ‘Mel-Ben’ not Mel-Born, Bris-ben not Bris-bain.
More soulless buildings that could be anywhere in the world. Melbourne is becoming just another city, just the same as any other built-up city.
well what do you propose we do? create a new planning rule, which dictates that new developments must not look like anything else done prior in the world? I mean we could lobby to the planning minister?
