      @@r62aguy85 That's precisely why I said it is subjective. I respect your preference, as long as you respect mine. Personally, I prefer a more decorative style, over the stark and sleek style of the Towers. That said, as a young child I literally watched the Twin Towers being built, from my home in, Woodside, Queens and recall it vividly. In fact, from the 7 line train station by my house, there was a direct view of the Towers. This is where the majority of my memories come from. They hold a special place in my heart, and are the very reason why I love architecture, skyscrapers in particular.
      When they tragically collapsed on 9/11, it broke my heart. What made it more horrific had to do with the fact I used to work 2 blocks from the Towers and knew them well. Imagining the underground part really spooked me. It was a sad day when they dropped, the world has never been the same since.

    I can’t wait to see what Raleigh looks like in 2030. There’s been proposals for 20+ skyscrapers taller than 430 feet. About 13 of those have been approved. 2 of them are expected to hit around 630 feet and 1 of them is expected to hit 800 feet. A 650ft and 800ft are currently in design stages and are expected to complete construction by 2028. The project could be completed as early as 2026.

    • @GoalHornGeek
      @GoalHornGeek 2 года назад +8

      It’s even been suggested that there could be a building exactly 984 feet tall, or 30,000 centimeters, which would categorize it as a super tall, in honor of the 30,000 slaves that were freed when slavery was abolished in the state of North Carolina

    • @GoalHornGeek
      @GoalHornGeek 2 года назад

      @@californiamade5608 well, to be fair, there were major height restrictions until 2016. To even get approval, you’d have to go through a process that would take nearly 3 years. We were expected to get a two-tower 550-foot project right after PNC Plaza opened but then came recession and they had not gotten approval by that time. But now, considering the growth and attractiveness from developers, it’s very likely. For example, the 435-foot RUSBUS tower 1 started construction in April. The Creamery tower 1 will hit 432-feet and is expected to start construction this fall. Smoky Hollow Phase 3 is also rumored to be releasing the ASR for their project, which will start construction next year, is expected to tower to roughly 500 feet tall.
