The limited range for the bluetooth connection is in the manual, so it shouldn't be a surprise. For 360 video, just use the app to adjust your settings, than hit the record button on the Sphere, it won't matter if you go out of range. For photos, you need to stay within range to use the shutter button to take them. But on the DJI Air 2s, one of the two drones its works with, you can take a sphere 360 photo with the DJI Fly app. So you don't really need the Sphere to take 360 photos. The Sphere is far from perfect, but if you can purchase a second hand unit for a lower price, it's nice for capturing 360 video.
I really appreciate your honesty over this product as I was thinking of buying this. My only question I have can you record the video then fly 200 meters away then fly back. Will it record or turn off after 33 feet (if its on automatic settings)?
I have tryed recording with out still stops recording when out of range I tried to get an answer from insta360 and they say app and connection is 33:feet .. to me being up in the air at 200 feet and you can't change camera settings seems a little useless I am doing a video where u can mount the insta360x 3 and it works start recording before flight ... But still no control in the air with these cameras ....maybe they will fix with a firmware update ....I also noticed loss of gps satellites with the 360 sphere attached to drone.....trying to sell mine but warning pilots if the limit mutations to this device
@@dronephotographyandkit I cant believe Insta360 would roll out a product like this cause defeats the purpose of the product being attached to a drone. hope to see a part 2 from you in the future though

This is bullshit.... Once you press the record button on the Sphere, it will keep recording until you press the button again, no matter how far you fly. You don't even have to open the app.... Also if you start recording from the app, and you fly far away, the connection to the app will break but the Sphere will keep recording. It works the same with all Insta360 cameras. 😊👌
Although I do not have a sphere, it is probably just like the other Insta cameras and if you initiate the recording via the APP, as soon as it goes out of range, it will stop. You ONLY use the app to change settings within range and START the recording via the physical button on the CAMERA.

that "sphere" is not for you, just that.
