We are lucky, we are watching a GENIUS . A MASTER.
Steve's head can explode without MASTER and GENIUS reminders!
One of the things I like best about your videos is how you go about making decisions. You never know what you'll come across inside the shoes, and it's interesting to see how you keep the big picture in mind as you choose your plan of attack.
Years later, I enjoyed watching the video where you do, in fact make your own shoes. And boy Clark, she's a beaut!
Tell your wife that your commentaries are well received. After a day of listening to what is happening in Washington it’s nice to hear from someone who knows what he is talking about. Keep up the great work.
Hi, I'm a 28 year old girl wanting to learn the trade, and I can't say how happy and thankful I am that you uploaded this video, I learned TONS from it, lots of love from rainy Belgium! Hope you did well in the contest!
Ashtraygal stay tuned Steven has so much knowledge you can learn from.
I wonder how a girl can be 28 years old. That sounds like a grown woman to me.
@@Collateralcoffee give her a break, it's likely a translation difference. I'm not familiar with Dutch or French but Italian uses "girl" for any female from puberty to well into their 30s and often beyond as long as you don't seem "old". "Woman" is very distant and something you use if you are strangers, being formal, or they seem a bit tired out or elderly.
I am a girl at 56, always a girl. Woman is my mom. LOL
@@Collateralcoffee I only use woman if they're clearly elderly. Colloquially in the US, girl is often used until they are married. Anyway, good luck to Ashtraygal on her journey in a trade that needs more talented people.
Sometimes I don’t know if he talking to us or to himself! He’s enjoyable.
From a guy who works by himself a lot, I'm not sure I know many that don't talk to themselves a lot. You become your own best company.
@@rahdaswami2452 very true! At least it’s listening to someone you love and respect...
He's talking to himself and we are listening.
He's thinking out loud and we get the privilege of hearing his thoughts.
I’d say a little from column A and a little from column B. Us fans want to know what’s he’s doing and why. That’s why to me it’s some from A and some from B.
It’s a fascinating process....as he said, “There’s a lot going on here”.
Well done to Steve.
This is “Art” no doubt!!! Hope you win the competition!
What a great guy with the most positive attitude I have ever seen. You Sir, are a Great American👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 Simply incredible workmanship, beyond master level!
Steve those are two of the most dramatic and involved restorations I've ever seen you do! You did a Ph.D. level job on them both! Good luck in the contest, I believe you will do well!
love the comment from the wife, "who are you talking to?" LOL this is soooo a typical married couple! love it!
Kimberly Mason As long as he doesn't loose any arguments with himself...
It's Jake...from State Farm.

This video was impressive! Enjoyed learning about the anatomy of what makes quality shoes. This shoe is built like a tank the amount of elaborate sewing went into it. Lots of respect to you and many thanks to all your customers that keep your business successful. Hoping your children will continue the family business.
Your shop reminds me of my neighbor shoe repair when I was a child growing up in the 60's in South America. Those days our parents took the shoes to be repaired as many times as these needed. No new shoes until the old ones were really old. I use to see the master to work and I even remember the names of the tools he used. Your job is amazing, thanks for the wonderful video.
"Have you seen a man skillful at his work?
He will stand before kings;
He will not stand before common men."
Proverbs 22:29.
Yes. I love it, and thank you for it.
Brilliant job Steve, What is your wife talking about? Of course we are listening. Ha , I even answer sometimes. Wishing you all the best for the competition. T
You've done an absolutely brilliant job. Hope you won first prize. Really love the detail and professionalism one that shoe. From a wreck to a shining Ferrari. Love the blue ones too. 👍
When I was a teenager, I worked for Malanga Bros. Shoe Repair. It was a sweet little company where the craft was being taught and the shops were being passed down from generation to generation. Sadly, I think all the shops closed with the openings of Payless shoe stores on every corner, and I'm pretty sure that these artists all ended up working for Walmart. But, watching your video brought me back to a time in which quality outweighed quantity. Just for a moment I could smell the shoe repair shop. The leather, the rubber, the glues.... Ahhh, Thanks for the memories.
This is the most amazing shoe I have ever seen! The detail on the bottom is amazing. Those “v cleats” (I think that’s what you called them) are stellar in the shoe. I also loved how you did the one red, and the other pair were blue. It all screams, “style!” I know next to nothing about shoes, but I think I know excellent craftsmanship. You have it in spades, sir.
Steve, I can’t even begin to tell you how much I love this video (and all your videos!). Somebody who’s not afraid to take on new things, who works with passion, humor, and total artistry, and who does it all by hand. You’re one of my heroes! A dying breed-artisan craftsmen who love chasing perfection. We need more of you! Thanks for being an example and an inspiration! You’re the best!
Armenian people are known for being really awesome people. Hard workers and honest!
We ARE listening!!! You dont get a RUclips trophy for people not listening......
It is definitely more costly and time consuming to "recraft" something like this than getting a new pair.... Beautifully done! Almost like magic
A MASTERPIECE! Awesome work Steve. An unbelievable restoration...
A contest in my home country. How cool. Fingers crossed you win again.
I for one am glad you do talk to the viewers. It let's us know about the process of repairing a shoe or handbag. It should make us appreciate the apparel more.
This job did humble my perspective of shoe repair in USA.
Mr. Steve it is todays the front craftsmen of the industry. Thanks.
This is just amazing. I cannot believe the quality of Steve's work and the amount of talent and outright skill he displays. Not to mention solid dedication to a craft so sadly overlooked by our throw-away society.
Thanks for creating and sharing, this seriously restores my faith that craftsmanship still have a place and more important, is greatly appreciated.
The commentary/explanations are a big part of the video. Helps me understand what is being done and why.
It takes skill to keep up a running commentary with no one else there to help keep the flow going.
We are listening. Your personality and commentary are the reason I keep digging through your old videos.
I am so amazed at the craftsmanship of all your work. You have a great sense of pride doing your very best in all your work and it always results in a great outcome. Not many people have that attitude anymore and just do enough to get by. I certainly love your videos and anxiously awaiting the next project. Thank you!
Stefano Bemer probably rolled around in his grave seeing the state where his shoes were in.... great work Steve.
Absolutely amazing, a total transformation, love the visible stitching around the edge of the blue shoes. Bravo Steve another great video.
Steve, you say your not a shoemaker. Your not, your way way better an absolute genius. Oh and more importantly a real nice guy as well. AWESOME!!!
Steve you are a bad ass. What a great job on those shoes. Total respect for you.
I feel like a great new employee/apprentice is just around the corner for you with these videos showing just how skilled you are!
Always a pleasure watching a craftsman at work. Beautiful job. I bet you were glad you only had to do the one shoe of the red one.!
This is not just repair - it is a work of art !!!
As a fellow "clobberer" ( LOL) , I enjoyed this greatly. Norvegese' / Norwegian ----> Tip of the hat from a Texan, who has learned from Italian. Your father/grandfather, I hope is truly proud. Glad you are here. Thank you for your commentary and educational video. Some of your fans should know Vittorio Spernanzoni, Santoni, and Lattanzi. Congratulations on the "Silver" but, honestly . You're golden, man. Great respect from here.
OMG, those soles were sooooo freekin cool!! Like artistry!!
"First, you start with a last". Sounds like a trip to Bizzaro World...
That Hammer Time at 33:10 was pretty cool! The damping of the material on the bench gave it a nice, muted quality. Would be fun to use that as a drum sound.
Tell your wife we listen to you and are interested because your audience is also a little unsure of them selves and love to hear a master at work, who sometimes isn’t effect. It lets us know it’s okay to make mistakes, and that even at a master level (as you clearly are) sometimes we have doubts. Life is trial and error. You are human and that’s what’s so endearing about you and your channel. I learn so much, not just about the craft, but about the mind set. Thank you!
I wear slides with socks and I have zero style. I don't know how I ended up on this channel, but I'm glad I did. You are a joy to watch
Yes we do listen to everything you say all adds to the knowledge and the experience.
Thank you Mr. Bedo and thanks for your wife letting you stay back and educate us fans.
Steve: Maybe I will travel a little.
Me watching in September: No, you won't.
Yeah Covid-19 put a brutal end to those plans, huh?
@@TheNorwegian Yes Plandemic sure did!
OLD Leather Smith here, excellent as always Steve, I truly believe your a cordwainer especially with all your knowledge and experience . GOD'S BLESSINGS ✝️⚾🙃
That was incredible! Thank you so much for taking the time to share it with us.
I have watched a good amount of hours shoe repair by now.. that norwegian welt, I had no idea. It is INSANE, what a beauty. Never seen it before and now I want nothing else. Eager to see the results of the contest!
Great repair video. I wonder if the people that botched the first repair are watching this video and are cringing at their screw up. Keep up the great work, you are a Master. Thanks and stay safe.
The craftsmanship is second to none! Steve’s my hero. Absolutely love these videos ❤️ xx
Hi Steve, I love the style of shoe you chose for the contest, the intricate stitching along with the inserts used to contour the instep as well as the stair stepped effect to the sole make this an excellent choice to demonstrate your wonderful re crafting talents ! Add in the beautiful sole designs...you're #1 IN OUR BOOK ! On a side note I can't stop humming the theme song from Star Wars when you do the slow motion of the soles ! Lol GOOD LUCK MAN !👌👍❤
I would of been happy with a JR sole put on the lining , the shape and suede colour looked good. A nice clean look . Steve you should start making shoes . Lets continue 👍
i from the Netherlands and only for your story telling you should win the prize
Your work is incredible!
Great job! Love your videos. And to Steve’s wife, oh yea, we’re listening!
Wow.....and I mean WOW. Love the coloring and care to have the uppers bounce back. The soles of the sole, just, I mean.......WOW, no words to describe that. If I had a pair of those shoes....excuse me....works of art. They's be in a glass case. Simply wonderful to watch you work.
We are absolutely listening to you Steve. Millions of us are. You’re an amazing artist!!!!!! Your shoes are worth hundreds of thousands. Anybody who thinks otherwise has no clue about your worth
The originals look like they were buried in a landfill for the last 50 years. Really amazing work!
This one of the coolest things that I've ever seen!
you are a good shoemaker craftsman, my father taught me this beautiful art. Greetings from Sardinia
The blue shoe is quite something to behold. I thoroughly enjoy watching you work.
Amazing...At least someone had the foresight to hang onto those old shoes in that condition in the first place.
😆
Simply stunning restoration!
😃
Amazing restoration! Congrats on an inspiring effort no matter where your entry places in the competition. 👞👍🏆
I've never considered having a half sole fitted to a worn out sole, it always feels like a cheap cut and shut job but you could do mine any time if it's like the one you showed here. Great job!
Thanks for sharing, love your videos! You’re a Master. So cool knowing your shop is 10 minutes away! I’m keeping my fingers crossed!
As usually...you are The Best!!! :)
Steve, you are a shoemaker and not a cobbler, only you have to accept it:). I learned and also enjoyed a lot with this video. Thank you!
"Buffalo" Bob Smith: "Hey kids! What time is it?"
The Peanut Gallery: "IT'S! BEDO! HAMMER! TIIIIIME!"
Unreal! Basically a pair of ruined shoes, lovingly dismantled, cleaned, dyed, nourished and rebuilt! Every step was an education and very enjoyable to watch. Class!
I'm listening! And I love to watch and learn, I find it very relaxing even with the hammer time! You are great Steve and like your snobby viewer voice. I get happy every time I see you've uploaded a new video. Thank you!!
Fantastic episode Steve. Loved the way you bought the shoe back to "life" all the best with the competition. If I were the judge, you'd win.
2:15 am, I'm from Russia, I'm a nail master ... Why I'm watching this video?! 😆
But seriously, it's a f*cking hard, awesome, gorgeous, great job 👏👏👏👏
You got that right and I mean right
It is easier to say ‘impossible’ than work hard.Congratulations in my opinion is easier to make a shoe than fix it.You rock!
Steve this is beyond impressive, only the best shoe makers in the world use a seamless wholecut liner in their shoes and you replicated it with ease, hats of to you.
"This is a lot harder than it looks," says Steve, as he does this incredibly complicated-looking hard thing.
Red, white, and blue are also the colors of the Dutch flag, so the judges might have thought you were kissing up.
Holy crap Steve. i knew you were good, but DAMN... amazing transformation!!
I do enjoy your videos, Steve. Here in London we call this “ slow television” and your videos are up there with best. A true master
.
I enjoy listening to you and kind of entertained by your one way conversations. I mostly answer or agree with you. So, we kind of having conversation in separate place and time. Now I found my #1 favorite's RUclips videos!
If you're gonna do a trip to Europe, go to Northampton in England where so many of the famous shoes are made. Be really interesting to see you do a video where you visit one of the famous shoe factories. As this shoe restoration for the competition is a Norwegian welt, it would be interesting to see if you can visit the Cheaney factory, they make a shoe with Veldtschoen construction, very similar to Norwegian. I have a pair made this way, they are built like a tank.
Always visit the Cheaney factory shop when I’m there. The shoes are simply great. I’m seeing here in these videos real skill and attention to detail it’s amazing.
Good luck i hope you are the winner
Because i my eyes you are winner and you deserve to be 💯
🌹
Loved every minute of this video! Happy 2024!
Don’t worry, we know you are talking to us, I can’t believe what magic you have done with that shoe. How much I would love to have such a wonderful shoe. For not being a shoemaker, you sure are displaying the talent of a master craftsman. I really like the red lining and the burnished toe. I can’t wait to see it finished. I hope you win the contest.
I now see the finished shoe, the soles are spectacular, I really love the blue shoes too. I can’t decide which shoe I like better, maybe the blue. If I had those shoes I would only wear them on the carpet and never on sidewalk the soles are too beautiful to get scratched up. You are a master most definitely, your creativity as an artist really shines through. The labeling and the stitching inside are exquisite and that one letter I wouldn’t even notice had you not mentioned it. Thank you for sharing it was a pleasure meeting you, and learning something I never would have seen if it were not for you. So much work on something most people take for granted.
As far as I’m concerned you are a winner, I could never have done such a thing.
Bedo! I want to be your friend! I know it sounds weird but you just sent like such a happy guy! I’m sure your friends love you! Thank you for being a breath of fresh air in this RUclips craziness! FYI I love it when you laugh it’s contagious in a good way. Lol
Steve, that is one sad pair of shoe. you will do a beautiful job. Good luck.
Gorgeous reformation of the shoe! I hope you won an award.
Melody Simonson I won silver
@@BedosLeatherworksLLC Congratulations! The work was absolutely gorgeous.
You are a master in your craft. Your calm manner really vibrates through your work. I salute your experience and talent.
I love when you say “I crack myself up sometimes”😂
Yes we are listening.
Just loving those blue shoes, they appeared out of the blue. Both shoes though are a masterpiece of workmanship. No half hearted repairs here, award winning if I were the judge.
I have no words that would express the brilliance of your work! You are a genius with your leather craft and recrafting the shoe......you my friend are truly gifted and blessed with talent.
You are the World Champion, Super Heavyweight ULC, whatever they decide there at the competition ! )
Wait a minute! Your retirement plan is to "work your butt off?" :). I like two aspects of this in particular, the amount of leathercrafting and the skill required to do it. Beautiful job, Vatche! :)
Of course I'm listening to you! You got lots to teach lmty! You're great, very good work you do there
I watch a lot of your videos. I consider myself as a craftsman, but I aspire to be a craftsman at your level in my trade. Thanks for explaining the tools in some of your videos. I inherited a wood box of tools from Italy but had no idea what the old tools were for. Now I know that they are old and very well used cobbler's tools. Thank you for doing all of these videos. Inspiring and educational.
we are sitting here listening, drinking coffee, and enjoying the work....
I shall call him Doctor Frankenshoe! IT’S ALIVE! AALIIIVE!!!
Hats off for this gigantic work and it is day and night of a difference. Turned out gorgeous!!!
Like always, You share Your trade. That in itself is priceless. Another job Hammered Bedo's style!
Hi Steve, I was watching this amazing restoration and I saw all the troubles you had using an awl to make the holes for the second row of stitches and I was thinking that maybe in the future you can try using a dremel tool with a very small bit to make the holes 😊
OMG! I'm dying!! I can't wait to hear the contest results. If you don't win, of course, it's rigged... LOL! But seriously, beautiful work.
I have always thought you are a master of your craft. When you said you loved Chris Cornell singing. My opinion of you has gone up another notch. He had so much more to give.
When you have the chance check out Birth ritual 1992 live singles the move. He really puts his voice to the test!!!
Its stunning how we follow the same steps even though we are in two separate trades...
You mentioned travelling, maybe to Belgium. My friend Luc De Cuyper is a great shoe recrafter in Bruges. You may already know of him. Real nice guy and like you, a true shoe pro. Has a website.
