My favorite helicopter moment in a movie: The Spy Who Loved Me: Bond fires a missile at a helicopter from his underwater car / sub. That entire movie is great, probably my favorite Bond movie, but that scene was classic. My favorite helicopter game: Gunship for the Commodore 64. It's very addictive, pushes the C64 hard, and is still a ton of fun to play these days. Plus, it's on a system that has 64 in its name (the C64 is my favorite computer of all time, and the N64 is my favorite console of all time). Thank you very much for the video, Glenn. You rock!
@@OpticalHaze If I remember right, it runs at 60fps only on some emulators, and that makes it too fast. The real hardware does more like 30fps most of the time. (I need to bring that game out of storage and try it again.)

I know it's not a helicopter technically however an N64 game I grew up with called Buck bumble plays like most the helicopter simulators that I've played as an adult

These recently themed compilation videos are a great way of discovering games you might’ve missed back in the day - I think a few people may have missed some great 3rd party titles because of how dominant Nintendo’s first party releases are/have been. Would be interesting to see a video on movie tie-ins, as love or loathe them, they seemed to be everywhere in the late 90’s and early 00’s.
Ironically, I think Pilotwings 64 might be the closest thing to a chopper game that I’ve played. Now THAT’s a franchise I’d like to see resurrected soon (and not just as a tech demo, like Pilotwings Resort basically was).
Enemy Engaged: Apache vs Havoc. I have a lot of nostalgia for that one and always had a great time with it, regardless of how tedious it seemed. It came with a Mig Alley disc as well and that was another game I loved.
Funny Rambo is in that game, I was actually gonna say First Blood for helicopter scenes in movies just cuz I remember it being so ridiculous that he took out a sniper in a helicopter with a rock lol.
I remember absolutely hating the Rambo guy in Chopper Attack when I was a kid, cos he just wouldn't get the hell off my helicopter! Nowadays though, he's just funny to me. I find that the music in that game deserves a modern remaster, too. It's pretty good, I think.
I want to play all these games, but chopper attack looks the most appealing to me for some reason. It would be cool if a homebrew developer was able to add in light gun support for knife edge.

Unfortunately I never had the chance to explore any helicopter n64 titles. Your videos are making me want an n64 again sooo badly! Obviously I had my childhood one which was lost during a move, but also regretfully sold a mint one I won a few years back. Question is it worth it to methodically seek out another console with games which is so pricey now...or PC emulation.

I thought the game was visually interesting back then, but I was bad at it and didn't get far. Chopper attack was another rental from back in the day. I enjoyed this one more, but I remember a lot of crashing into landscape.

Army Men Air Combat is an NTSC exclusive (typical PAL region gamers getting shafted) so never played it until a few years ago, really fun game playing co-op.
