CGC just dropped Bulk to $11.00 a card and upped value to $1,000 per card
Most will not grade with CGC, a better slab and service because everyone, including ALL the Pokemon influncers, use PSA as their standard. If the influncers stop pumping PSA, AND I MEN FOR EVERY SPORT, THIS will not be an issue. PSA is king because people discount other Gem Mint cards from other companies. The hobby brought this on themselves.

@@thereverendripps1733I’ve actually seen varied sentiment regarding grading companies and overall it seems black labels always beat psa 10s in terms or price. No reason not to take the gamble IMO, if you fail just crack it and send to PSA if you care so much but I’d rather trade it. CGC should bring back scores too. PSA allows 60:40 centering which I feel like should be at most 55:45 for a 9.5 and a 10 for 50:50 if we were splitting grades and saying 10/10 is a perfect pristine card.

Sorry but Beckett and CGC are better then PSA. I get more value in resale with them with the same card, mainly cause PSA don't go pass Gem 10 and round up more often to a gem 10 were the others actually do .5 grades to keep them more satisfied for a grade they give.

For now, I skip the hassle of grading and just buy em outright. With this news, I will absolutely not be grading myself. Ill just buy off people trying to liquidate bc they always take less than asking/market
psa needs to realize that the only reason they are the number 1 grading service is because they have the best returns on investment due to their lax standards, recognized name, and low cost. other than that though they have the worst slabs of the big three and make some of the worst mistakes in their grading. if they raise the prices they really risk lossing the one thing they have going for them being their return on investment potential to cgc who has similar standards, is also a recognized name, better slabs, and cheap prices.

BGS looks so much better overall as a slab, I wish the sentiment would change a little more. Even TAG looks really great but it sucks if I look to sell something it’s just always psa over all, arguably the easiest to grade with as well

I agree with you, it's so dumb. It's not like more services are rendered when the grade is higher. It's a cash grab and can certainly result in scammy situations.
I just started collecting in Pokemon but have been collecting stamps for a long time. When you send a stamp in for certification, your fee is always based upon the catalogue value of the stamp. I imagine this is how PSA is viewing their service. That being said, there's always a predetermined catalogue value indiscriminate of the grading and certification. The issue with PSA is that they are both the catalogue value and the certification of said catalogue value. This is definitely a conflict of interest and if continued in this manner should be avoided at all cost.

Graded exclusively with PSA, but just sent a bath of cards to Beckett. Upcharging based on card value when they’re doing nothing different is bad enough, but nearly doubling that upcharge price is borderline extortion. Will definitely be moving my business for high-end cards to BGS.

Never graded with PSA, for me they just have the ugliest slabs and labels. The fact that they up charge based on post grade value is insane. Not sure why people still grade with them. Cgc for modern cards grade just as strictly giving out 10s as psa is.

Looks like they want a 1/17 cut of valuable cards to me. A grading service should keep things simple for everyone. PSA is anything but simple 😮
PSA is my least used grading company for shenanigans like this. The policies and customer service have gotten worse and worse as their portfolio has gotten bigger and more unwieldy. That combined with the terrible grading inconsistency that has cropped up in the past few years is a recipe for disaster. BGS and CGC (and smaller companies like TAG) need to take advantage of their hubris and pounce now.
Good reason to grade cards form new sets right away while the value is under $500
CGC is like the Great Value of grading if ya catch my analogy. Great for budget collectors but Bigger Players in the space prefer PSA. Also note that I've gone to lots of card shows, and most vendors will hesitate to trade or buy CGC slabs. An FYI for those who are unaware. However, I completely disagree with this increase!!!
I graded 3 moonbreons and got uncharged when they all got 10s... I was really surprised they came back 10s honestly. (I had subscribers pick which ones out of 9 to grade). I wonder if they all got 10s because of price hikes

Unfortunately we are kind of in the "junk slab" era where so many people are grading cards that aren't worth much even in a 10. This could be PSA's way of deterring some cards from being sent to them so they can target the audience with higher value cards. This of course would allow the upsell price increase to become more profitable on cards that see higher value multipliers with PSA 9's and 10's. This would also allow them to have better turn-around times in theory. While I honestly prefer CGC over PSA (the pristine 10's will probably become the more sought after cards within our generation imo), I think this is PSA's way of filtering the cards that come in. I believe they could have approached this with a better business model opposed to simply raising a bizarre upsell fee.
I don’t grade my cards because grading is a scam haha
I just did a submission for the may special with the lower rate with max value of $200 and all of my cards came back valued around $100-500 and I had no up charge for these higher ones.

At this point grading is just a scam. Hopefully in the future grading will be more automated and objective like what TAG is doing. The whole concept of upcharging is dumb and unless you just plan on flipping cards, there's no reason to grade.
its a catch 22. they have to to increase the insurance when shipping it back. Its sketchy because it seems like you're paying extra if you get a better grade, but in reality for them to protect the graded card at that point they need to pay for increased shipping insurance back. Def not a fan though because it makes cards valued 500-1k not worth submitting
And the membership fee went up to $149.00 per year. I am not renewing. I am just going to sell my raw and buy the slab going forward.

My big question is where are they getting their value for the post grade? Oh wait PSA has their own pricing guide and they price it at whatever they want.
Also the upcharge is supposed to have a faster turn around included. They aren't moving any faster with your submission so they aren't giving you full value.

Wow PSA is not right for raising prices. I never graded a card, and my plan was to in the future get cards graded, but everything is too expensive now. Smh that’s bad news to me. Thanks great video.

I think most people abuse the teirs though. Do a bulk submission on a 1k card? And then surprised at an upcharge when they know that there is a teir for the higher cost card? Kinda silly.

I grade with CGC. Kind of weary of PSA. Also, it shouldn’t be up to them to determine the value of the card that should be based off market or your own personal opinion. Any card should be the same price no matter of value.

As torn as i am on subjects of AI. I want PSA to instill SGC AI grading because they are not nearly consistent enough and make it a flat rate grading fee. I don't think people are okay with it, but unless you are shooting for a black label we all know PSA hold the most value in current times.

This is why I don't grade PSA, they priced me out already and they are going full force on the monopoly then GameStop only accepting PSA cards is just outright a strategy to gain more market share. I thought all companies upcharged honestly. I agree with what you are saying and it seems like they are incentivizing themselves to give the 10. Unfortunately if your card is not perfect, you would want to send to PSA for the best potential return. If your card is perfect you would send it to Beckett or CGC for a black label 10/perfect 10.
Bgs is the only one of the 3 without a tier system
Not trying to defend them, but it’s been $75 since last year. I remember because I went to collectacon in Dallas and looked at the rates before submitting. I never liked the up charge cuz I considered it a tax but for some dumb reason PSA sells better historically so I grade with them just in case I ever decide to sell.

I know im just one person but they didn't do this for me. I listed all my cards under $200 value even my Leafeon VMAX from Evolving Skies and it got a 10 and they didnt upcharge. Just got the cards back like 2 days ago

Not saying that this reason is valid or 100% accurate, but my thoughts on the matter are… PSA runs deals and specials for large orders of cards at a discounted rate… and to counterbalance that, they charge fees for cards that are worth more to even out the profit margin!? Now, I’m not saying that’s okay, or exactly the reason! But it makes sense… however, increasing the fee that’s been put in place for so many odd years… is greediness! Point blank period. But when you live built a business that’s considered the GOLD standard of card grading… guess you can make changes like that without losing a percentage of customers that truly matters… lol

Recently got two giratinas alt graded, one came back a PSA10. Upcharge was $75! In the same submission, another tina, came back in a PSA 9 and was only $19. Absolutely nuts! They are cracking down on alt arts man....

Unpopular opinion, but I’d rather pay $75 for a PSA 10 valued at $500 than to just buy the PSA 10 for $500 from someone else. I imagine this bothers resellers more than anyone else.
Plus:PSA is just the most widely accepted. Ive seen vendors at shows turn down sales and trades just because they were SGC. Not so much Beckett or CGC but PSA is more broadly accepted format/look
In general, the upcharge is ridiculous to me. I understand requiring higher shipping insurance cost back, but seeing how there isn't any additional work for a cheap/expensive card, it's asinine.

I don't think they are giving more 10's so they can accumulate more money. I graded 250 pack-fresh cards last year from the 2004-2006 era and I can say most of those cards came back 9's. And all those cards were strictly holos and reverse foils.

I haven't ever graded anything before but I am torn between going with psa or beckett. I am leaning toward beckett though for anything I think can get a 10 and psa for anything that might be a 9.

That’s definitely something I need to be more aware of when grading. The $500+ Psa 10 cards are pretty inefficient to grade now I guess. On the other hand you might be able to skirt by if you only have a few cards like that and the rest are bulkier. $200 or so.

Yeah I would like a few of my cards graded but it just seems like a pain in the ass super expensive plus it takes a while and it’s confusing I tried to find a shop to see if they would help send them in but even they don’t want to deal with it
I'm surprised these companys ain't got computers and scanning equipment and have a algorithm built based on all the cards they've graded to give more precise grades instead of leaving to people who are doing it for the money as I've seen lots of psa 10s that ain't 10s

Its just like if your a liability driving. Your insurance is higher. If cards are getting lost and they are honoring their pay out. They need to make money. No business is in business to break even. There has to be a means to the ends. If a card gets lost they have to payout those cards. I like PSA. Just like me supporting a youtube channel that i essentially get nothing from. Im gonna invest in what i support. PSA makes me money to buy more pokemon, i have no problem supporting them especially when you are made aware of their charging tiers. If i send a raw card thats worth $200 i will submit at bottom tier. But if the card graded is worth over what it is raw i am fully aware as well as everyone else is, your getting an upcharge. What is so crazy about that. Just like if the store pays more for an item. So are you as a customer. Everything cost more and everyone raises their prices regularly. I manage a restaurant , we changed our prices 3 times last year. Thats business. Some people understand it and some dont. Put the cards in your 3 ring and destroy them if you want. Or send them to tag and then they will be worth less. Your choice

In reality there is more proof of pop control then what you are saying about upcharges. In reality neither happen. Honestly does it matter? No it's only the people who buy any tcg or sport and try to flip it on day one. No card I've submitted has ever got an upcharge. Cgc most definitely upcharge for cards and comics.

So I plan on going to the DFW collect a con in July and I’ve never graded cards before but I’ve thought about taking some of my nicest cards. I know PSA hugely sponsors these so how should I grade my cards or figure out which ones are worth grading? I’m a college student so money is a little tight but I’m planning on bringing some bartering cards and saving up to splurge a bit.
Edit: I want to bring my nice cards to grade. Also is Dr Applesauce going to that one?

Get a bright light and just look at your cards as slowly and carefully as you can, and pick the ones that look best to you. 😃
Mrs PSA abusing their market share which was inevitable happens in all industries. This was only a matter of time and of course will become worse in the future as they need to make more and more profits year over year. CDC just lower the pricing because in the end it doesn't matter how much you make on the cards PSA shouldn't charge you more because they know you're going to make more😊
I grade exclusively with PSA. Upcharges usually mean that your card got a PSA10 grade. So why would I complain that my card is now worth more than what I stated on the order sheet that I sent in. They do it, because they can. Or- I could get my modern Charizard graded a CGC10 or an SGC 10 and have the my card valued for less but why would I want that?

They aren't going to be around to much longer if they keep using these insanely shady business practices. You may not say that PSA sucks or that they're shitty people. I freaking will and so would(in my opinion) a lot if not most of the tcg collecting communities. If we don't flood to CGC then they're going to keep getting away with it and they'll never stop raising the prices.

They priced me at 129 usd for the stitch rockstar card , doubled the price because it got the 10 , I had 2 and told them not to encase it because they wanted to give it a 9 and I told then they charged me the full price anyways like what the fuck psa

grading is biggest, scam since it just an opinion, they don't know what it will sell for even if they give a 10. So, you're just buying your grade for the up charge. as most people now selling their slabs are getting less than what it cost them to grade that mind blowing. grading cards and investors have really screw up the market on value for cards. also, you don't know if you card is real or been altered if you're buying these slabs. those prices are ridiculous, just think if you sent in 10 to 15 cards image that change. To me you should only be paying for the service and not to have hidden charges because it graded higher. for many there are just too deep into it to just stop. that called having you hand in the cookie jar and taking their cut for the grade. people love PSA since they give out the most 10's even if they're not.

I'm curious that if before making this video If you contacted them for any comments on your concerns and got the answers straight from the horse's mouth? Obviously you didn't do that does it ever interest you to do that before making these type of videos? It would make for a much more complete video not come off quite as much as you're whining about someone's prices that someone does not have to pay and just go elsewhere to another Grading Company

PSA got greedy. They saw their growth and their dominance compared to others, and they took advantage of it. Cold world we live in.
