    @minpinful A lot of people thought that, but John actually had the Casino plugged into the soundboard directly and had them overload the signal - which produced the sound you hear.

    Good catch. I even build a clone of the FZ-1A myself and I didn't notice that. I think I was too mesmerized by his voice;)

    That has been extensively modified. Those are, as someone else has pointed out, new production NTE transistors and it's running on 3V like the earlier FZ-1 (the 1A ran on a single AA battery @ 1.5V). Sounds pretty good though and not a million miles from the ones I've heard in the flesh.

      it maybe modified but mine isn't and mine sounds just like this one ,so I don't know what the mod did ...?

    Serial #30091 was built in 1967, not 1964.

    they started making him at 1962
    until 1965 the sales wasnt good an in 1965 the song satisfaction chnged it all

    ive just brought one but mine only has one battery slot for a single aa yours has got 2 mine looks alot older same board orange cap sounds a little bit different to yours mine farts more lol great post peace...
