Introduced in 1962, Gibson’s Maestro Fuzz-Tone FZ-1 was the first commercially available distortion pedal - and it was the secret sauce behind the infectious guitar lick that would drive the Rolling Stones’ massive 1965 hit “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction.“ After the wild success of “Satisfaction,” the Maestro Fuzz-Tone FZ-1 virtually defined the sound of rock ’n’ roll and became an essential effect for guitarists seeking to differentiate their music with its cutting-edge sound. Now, Sweetwater is delighted to present to you the Maestro Fuzz-Tone FZ-M, a direct descendant of the FZ-1 that nails all the sonic ferocity of the original - while also offering a thicker, more modern-sounding fuzz tone as a bonus!

Fuzzrocious! Do you prefer the modern or classic voicing of the Maestro Fuzz-Tone? 💥
Mine just arrived last night and having owned an original Maestro FZ-1 in 1970, the vintage voicing is really taking me down memory lane.
I was a kid when I heard the fuzz on "Don't Worry About Me." I was smitten by that cool tone. Loved fuzz ever since
I’m am more picky about Fuzz then probably any other effect. And I’m really digging this one!
Thanks for the review Sweetwater :)
This is so awesome. A true fuzz box.
That's a crunch I could definitely use on my board. I think I might just cave and nab one.
I had an original FZ-1... used a AA battery, I used it on bass mostly. Bought it used from my middle school health teacher in 1970 or 71.
This sounds good, I like both settings. It's a shame they went with the low Z input, but I guess that's part of the tone.
Great Pedal
Cool stuff 👍
Sounds rather metal for a fuzz pedal. I'd buy this.
Mitch CAN explain!
Has anyone tried this on a bass??
I used to use an original FZ-1 on bass, It sounded great!
Fulltone '69 fuzz sounds much better, using Germanium transistors ❗
Classic "crunchy" voicing.
I'm ok with my Carcosa \m/
The amp settings are horrible
Like we need another fuzz pedal.
Ha.
One more is ALWAYS better.
Blah blah blah…..too many talky, not enough rocky.
Too much of a one trick pony to pay $149. Electro-Harmonix has the "Satisfaction Fuzz" for less than half the price. Sure the bugle LEDs and box are aesthetically pleasing, but eh, they can keep it. You can play the riff on a $25 Behringer fuzz and the average listener won't notice.
I guess that depends if you're trying to please your own ear, or that of the " average" listener.Judging by what is popular recently, I care little what they're hearing.
The Joyo Voodoo Octave is a good, cheap, Fuzz, and there are others. But this sounds little like the EHX.
I had the Behringer. I ended up mostly using the boost setting. But its a very accurate copy of the Boss version of the Univox Superfuzz. It sounds great, but I couldn't bond with it. The EHX is a Jordon Bosstone, despite the name. They all sound a little different.
The satisfaction fuzz is nowhere near as splattery and raspy as a Maestro clone or copy. Also lacks tone control.
This is much more versatile (and, frankly, better sounding) than the Satisfaction fuzz.
