1994 SN Cobra had stock 60(!) mm tb with a 70(!) maf. It had larger inj 24lb vs 19lb for GT. Also larger fuel pump and a special “cobra” ecu program (more timing, etc). Upgrading to a 65 or 70mm tb was the first upgrade along with more timing. I bought it new in 94…miss her😢. Peace

I love my fabricated GT-40 intake. It's definitely the best looking Windsor intake, Back in the day people new in stock form the GT-40 performed a tad better, but the cast Cobra intake allowed for porting or extrude honing.

Could anyone provide an explanation? Also with the 2000 cobra r intakes. Or even utilize 5.0 HO style intakes of tried and true design re-engineered to work on 4.6 SOHC and DOHC designs?

There was a couple companies...such as comp... who did plastic box uppers which were ok but tend to pop under boost. Over the years plastic does deteriorate....but other than weight savings it would have little affect overall.

The 70 mm makes a big difference of horsepower and the air to fuel mixture ratio!! Not really hardly much of a comparison when the explorer comes factory with the 70 mm throttle body!? 👌🤷🤯😮‍💨

I had really good power with the GT40 intake, but I got even more power with the Edelbrock and the Edelbrock made the most power for me. The Edelbrock beat every other intake I tried. I used a 70mm throttle body. The GT40 intake just about as good as most of the other aftermarket intakes. Magic 5.0 camshaft I use is Crower 15511, which makes more power than the next larger Crower camshaft and equals the Ford 220/.498"/110 camshaft for power. Two Crower cam sizes up for a 331 stroker though. For me the GT40 intake was about as good as the Trick Flow intake, but the Edelbrock beat all of them. The Trick Flow valve springs are good, as is the Trick Flow stage two camshaft, if changing pistons. Both the Crower and Ford cams beat the Trick Flow stage one cam, but the stage two camshaft beat all of them, but requires piston clearance.
