Yes I do! And if theres an issue i alwasy back it up> I have some ECU's i havent sold yet. I usually take them apart to make sure the capacitors arent bleeding or bad before i test them. ANd i repair that when they are.
Do you have a preference of the GT40 over the GT40p? From my research the GT40p is slightly better but only up to about .500 lift due to the smaller exhaust valves. So if you intend to run any cam with a higher lift you have to port them so the GT40 is actually better for a higher lift cam.
Run the maximum lift possible with a particular duration. The earlier the flow maxes out, the longer the flow stays maxed out = more area under the curve = power.
The Explorer intake is a small improvement. The original GT-40 intake from ford racing was made from tubing. It will pick up a few more horses. Not sure how rare those intakes are today?
Love the videos man just got a vortech v3 sci they forgot to send the spring tensioner pulley tho so now it's just a waiting game. Any way, just curious what psi your running. Thanks in advance!

I have a 94 gt with a 302 or a 5.0 if you will. When i got it it was skipping. So i tore the top part of the motor down and pulled the heads and come to find out the stock e303 cam didny have enough clearance between the cam and push rods and we kept bending the pushrods. Then the second time i tore it down to replqce the pushrods i took the heads off. And replaced the single spring with dual springs. Put it back together and it wouldnt run for shit. Then i am tearing it down now and placing a new 512 comp cam with gt40 heads with new lifters and new rockers and new pushrods.then i put a exhaust system which was a borla off road H pipe with no cats Hopefully this will be the last time if nit. I. Yanking the 302 out and dropping a 383 stroker bore 60 over in to it
gt40 intake, gt40p or gt40 heads, cam, probably tfs1 or a b cam, longtube headers will make no where near 350rwhp but will definitely have some torque to it. which for a street car, is more important. always like gt40 videos. best bang for the buck
That cover underneath the lower intake keeps hot oil from splashing onto the runners and heating up the air going into the engine. On any intake, wet or dry, it's good to get the covers off underneath and clean all the gunk before installing on a new/fresh engine--otherwise it's like doing an engine swap without flushing the radiator out.

Once you convert to MAF, put some 36lb injectors/Billet fuel rails and F303 cam in the car. Porting the heads, extrude hone the upper and port matched lower as well. Did this on my 93' Cobra back in the 90's and the car ran 11.75 at 123mph on its best pass. This was rolling out on a street suspension and not a 5k dump as didn't want to break anything. Neomustangs me especially so due to current and vehicles 10yrs old or less all for the most part can be either factory retuned using factory software or tuned with aftermarket software without removing the EGR if equipped or any emissions components. Obviously, that’ll only go so far then it’ll be necessary to remove all emissions and go all out for performance. In my case since I need to remain street legal and within EPA & CARB meaning (instant inspection fail if a check engine is on) but, I’d like to get as much power from upgrades like your doing with old blue except the need to keep stock EGR & emissions A.I.R. pump and equipment with at least high flow catalytic converters.

Yes I do! And if theres an issue i alwasy back it up> I have some ECU's i havent sold yet. I usually take them apart to make sure the capacitors arent bleeding or bad before i test them. ANd i repair that when they are.

Good luck!
New to the channel. Love it. Curious what rear tires you are running?
One dads car? 275/40/17s
Cool test. I like seeing what the little things do
Thank you!
Do you have a preference of the GT40 over the GT40p? From my research the GT40p is slightly better but only up to about .500 lift due to the smaller exhaust valves. So if you intend to run any cam with a higher lift you have to port them so the GT40 is actually better for a higher lift cam.
P over regular but you just have to understand the spark plug dilemma
@@Neomustangs Oh yes. It is going in a Ranger so that is definitely being considered.
The car is plain out of space to make power on 19s. I think 30s and.a tune it makes more power right now
Very rare and people think they’re gold when they try to sell them. I’ve been them listed for $1,500 in some of the foxbody fb groups
Love the videos man just got a vortech v3 sci they forgot to send the spring tensioner pulley tho so now it's just a waiting game. Any way, just curious what psi your running. Thanks in advance!

Not sure but its 45 with vac off idle. Stock FMU yes.
Good stuff. Love the info.

Yep next big jump would be a decent aluminium head. I wouldn’t even bother with the GT40 heads.

So what rockers change?
Ratio, full rollers, ??
Just intake plus 10?
What cam?
Rowing gears like a Boss. Good Job! You running stock t5?
Yes and yes
I'm a little late on this series, but I love you pushed the SD system. Everyone is so quick to covert to mass air and while the SD has it's limits, if you stay within them, it runs pretty good. I'm about to put a Novi 1000 on my stock 88GT and had a question on the check valve. Did you just run it inline to the map sensor or T it in and let it vent to the atmosphere?
Thx i agree! the check valve is in line with the vacuum hose that runs from intake because SD doesnt vent to atmosphere.
@@Neomustangs Thanks man!!! Seems like some people put it on a T fitting and let the boost vent to the atmosphere, but I'm going to take your route and just put it in line.
I. Yanking the 302 out and dropping a 383 stroker bore 60 over in to it
Sounds like your hands are full there !
gt40 intake, gt40p or gt40 heads, cam, probably tfs1 or a b cam, longtube headers will make no where near 350rwhp but will definitely have some torque to it. which for a street car, is more important.
always like gt40 videos. best bang for the buck
Nice vid man, I'd get the tires more centered on the top of the rollers.
Thanks for the tip
Great video!
It's worse than that. The PCV valve will pull oil through the cup screen at high rpm and the engine will smoke.
What’s the timing at? Im guessing 14-15
Yes 15

How much work is it to convert to mass air for gt40 heads? Love the videos 🤘
You dont really need to convert mass air to use heads.

Great video. Iam a subscriber and will follow you. Just bought 93 gt. About 4 months ago. Here's what my set up is. Wondering if you could ballpark my HP? 5.0 stock bottom, gt40 heads, cobra intake, e303, BBK shorty headers, BBK 65mm throttle body. 70mm mass air, 19lb injectors, BBK H pipe, Flowmasters, 3:73. I’d be curious what the difference is between the stock intake and the GT40 over the whole curve, not just peak HP. Congrats on 11’s!
Never thought to do that. I should have layed that over top each run.

MSD Boost retard back then and some help with 116 octane. On 93, car would run 119-120.
Nice thanks for the info!
@@Neomustangs Some crap on the alpha cams from Ford, but that F303 was a blower specific cam. I paired very well my my GT40 Irons, 1.7 rockers, cobra style GT40 intake, 65mm TB and Pro-M 77mm MAF. I was running 10lbs on the old B Trim that was the predecessor to the S Trim. I have an archaic vid posted on my channel from the 90's if you care to hear it. Not seeking subs, just making a reference to hearing the chop of the cam.
I ran a 12.9 with f cam and aluminum heads, dam I need to throw on my supercharger
Evan Smith did that in a GT stock full interior totally stock engine back in the 90s when he had MMFF magazine.
Revnevan on YT.
Extrude hone that intake and port match the lower along with a set of ported GT40 heads and car will make a lot of power.
Still have to maf convert.
I did the same and added a 1inch spacer between upper and lower and its 👍
BigDogs ported is much more cost effective.
Other than hood clearance issues, I’m curious to know why mustang racers don’t use the EFI truck upper & lower intakes??? They’ve got longer runners, it’s a dual throttle body and there’s larger diameter truck throttle bodies available from the aftermarket too!
Curious myself.
My current application is a 1985 Mercury Grand Marquis LS 2-Door, 302 nothing special 0.030” over bore with stock rockers, pushrods, flat-tappet hydraulic lifters, stock E7 heads & intake with RV cam, EGR & Complete AIR system with TAB & TAD valves, EGR control & EGR Valve solenoids, A/C throttle kicker, Choke control & Exhaust heat control valve all are electronically controlled and vacuum operated and all working, stock 2BBL CFI Fuel injection & TFI Ignition, stock exhaust manifolds with one O2 sensor on passenger side, 8.8 LSD with 3.73:1 gears 28-Spline axles on P225/70R15 tires on 15”X7” 5 on 4.5” rims.
In the last year I’ve installed the following new parts, HD spring assisted front shocks, air assist rear shocks, full 2.5” exhaust, magnaflow high flow AIR Assisted Catalytic Converters, H-Pipe, dual flowmaster 40 series mufflers & tail pipes over the rear axle, head gaskets, lapped the valve seats, new valve seals, double row timing set, new front & rear main seals, one piece oil pan gasket, intake & exhaust gaskets, replaced all sensors including EGR Valve, replaced all vacuum lines with new lines, installed a Monster Transmission AOD built for 400HP/450torque with slightly higher 1,600 - 1,800 stall torque converter (factory was 1,300 - 1,500) made a mount and installed three 15” X 7.5” X 3/4” trans coolers 3/8”s ID, made new 3/8”s trans cooler lines added trans temp sensor in the return line, added remote mounted spin-on oil filter for the trans.
Removed entire engine harness except harness that goes through the firewall, repaired any shitty Factory Ford wire slices, ran new sensor wires for a tach, coolant temp, oil pressure & trans temp into the factory harness loom, 4-pod A-pillar gauge pod with autometer 2-1/16” gauges, wired PWR & GND for gauges into stock harness loom, wired the gauge lights into the headlight/dimmer harness loom, soldered/shrink tubed all connections and replaced all factory loom tape with Tessa tape & flexible split loom all for stock appearance and fitment, replaced old frayed 10AWG alternator charge wire and fender to block grounds with 8AWG wire, replaced 4AWG PWR & GND’s and added a block to frame 4AWG GND, added a 8AWG GND for the alternator to the regulator on the fender to assure good charging GND’s.
Installed new severe duty water pump & Fan Clutch, new 3-Row radiator without factory skimpy trans cooler, new stock 70AMP alternator, new belts, all new hoses for cooling, heating and emissions, fabbed up a functional 2”T X 12”W X 18” hood scoop with fabbed 18” X 4” air cleaner housing to seal under the hood with stock 9.5” X 3” air filter, new distributor, wires, E3.42 spark plugs, new factory 16GAL fuel tank, fuel pump & tank level sender, basic maintenance new fuel filter, air filter oil change & filter, new brakes front & rear, new tires, new 800CCA battery.
My problems are, EGR Insufficient Flow fault code and no idea what parts to upgrade to stay reliable, good idle, more power and stay CARB inspected. My idea is a sleeper that has good fun power, ok cruising mileage and passing state inspection. I’m not by far trying to break and power records here, just a fun old paw paw sleeper car, no turbo, NOS or forced induction except for small ram air hood scoop.

Listening sir I have a '91 F-150 and I'm very curious why I'm not why how can I and what do I need to have to change my F-150 engine is not a ho just a regular 5.0 out of a 91 my question is first what kind of ECM PCM will I need the code the three digit code and two what would I need to install also to ensure that this thing runs correctly
What about the F-150 big-port 5.0l intakes? Nobody does those???
I'm rebuilding a 93 lightning with speed density and want to keep my gt40 intake specifically for the lightning badge. 408 stroker (forged eagle rot assembly) AFR heads 220 72cc, all the parts and pieces, running 10:1 or 10.5 whichever we come to. I don’t think your truck will like 408 on speed density
@@Neomustangs even down here along the gulf coast at sea level? I talked with my tuner and engine builder about it and they weren’t overly concerned with it. So this car only has 19# injectors, stock heads with valve springs and roller rocker? No cam no nothin? No headers/exhaust? Basically GT40 intake and a super charger? I'm just curious for my own build. How much boost is that supercharger making?
That is correct. 7 pounds at 4500.
Seems like that distributor may be giving out or spark plugs are too cold. On the power pull unburnt fuel was puffing. Slight bump up in timing and fuel will say yay or nay! Would raise fuel pressure first to verify that it isn't a lean misfire!
Untuned you’re gonna have that a little. It’s not that bad. But ya. Timing maybe. But then I’m being greedy in an already super lean situation I’d imagine

Hard to find any definite answers on this but can I use the Explorer accessories drive on an Explorer motor if I put it in a Mustang Foxbody? Explorer alternator , Power Steering pump , water pump, A/C compressor on the Explorer brackets?
Honestly I would just use the long block and swap all the foxbody parts over.
@@Neomustangs that would definitely be the best route to go. It’s HARD to find a foxbody 5.0 with accessories that’s not in a car. Guess maybe find a foxbody with a clapped out 5.0 HO, would be the best route.

290 RWHP! ?
This may be a stupid question but can I just bolt on a bigger throttle body directly to the explorer manifold or do I need to use an EGR spacer? I got a upper and lower I want to put on my 89 GT along with some GT40 heads. Thanks in advance
Yes
You can make more power with speed density. Use the megasquirt computer
I know I can make much more with other tuning too but that wasn’t what I wanted to do here

Nothing beats the tubular gt 40 intake from ford
They all make same hp lol
@@Neomustangs did you try tubular one from ford motor sports
I have one i know
@@johnrau2873 .....they did a comparison many years ago on Muscle Mustang and Fast Fords magazine. Same exact HP rating. Cobra/explorer/tubular. Fact explorer outperformed it by a few Hp/TQ
There i posted the muscle mustangs chart on my blog so you can see it. They did a dyno test on all three intakes. All 3 intakes use the SAME lower style. Only uppers are different.....
Mine came from ford racing back then
That intake was about 9 hundred
They only made a few of them
The one that came off explorer's are close
Seems like being supercharged 19lbers would be way to small o would think 30s 36s or 39s would be more fitting

This is my other channel. I'm Strokedmustang66
I will def check it out!
When you first started it, the slight rocker/lifter tick, mine has that, but runs great. Did that go away or still have it a little? Trying to see if I should pull my lifters out as they were tight going in.
It went away.
Neomustangs good deal, thank you
What did you do about the throttle cable bracket when installing the gt40 intake?
NOthing it bolted right up? What do you mean? I used the Factory EGR housing that was bored out. I machined it to match.
Hell yea 11.90s on 19s nice
Yes!
So you think it would only make 20ish more rwhp with GT40 heads and long tubes?(legit question) I was hoping the gain would be atleast 30-40hp with the heads since boost is involved. I'm planning on the GT40Ps with my little Novi blower and that's disappointing. Lol I thought they were usually good for 25ish hp NA. BTW, love the channel man. You and Brew2l have the best content!!!
We will be revisiting this
@@Neomustangs I'll be looking forward to it. 👍👍
You bet!
Lots of variables.
Casting roughness, valve job, bowl ridges, good springs, etc. Minor details.
There's 10 HP difference easily.
Gt40 intake was never that great of a mod. The car would way cooler with the stock intake. 20hp nitrous woulda put it into 11's....
Nitrous is a possible next week mod. For shits and gigles.
It would be cool to see what nitrous would do
I always had good results with the Cobra intake. More power and 500 more usable RPM up top...
The cool part of this build was how fast could it go with stock parts. Change the stock intake he might as well drop in a Roush nascar long block....
What are you launching at? I have a 92gt with dr's and would like to know what rpm to launch at?
5000. But you can’t do that on a radial.
I have a 302 with gt40 3 bars have been wanting to cam and heads but I am curious if gt40 intake will still perform well with aluminum heads and larger cam the engine is in a 1984 datsun 200sx. I barely clears the stock hood i am afraid a different intake would require hood mods i like the stock look to this car it did come with a 4 cylinder the v8 really runs well in the car
Yes it will.
Go for the shorter 93 TBird, 94-5 Fox uppers.
The intake curve actually reduces turbulence into and out of the TB a little. Appearance is subjective.
If I could put a vortech where the ac compressor goes on my 5.0 explorer swapped ranger..or a torq storm..
Ya that would be cool
Nice job.
Thanks !
i got a question for you. i have a 91 5.0 i just picked up. its running like pure shit at idleand def has what seems to be a miss. i changed the tps, coolant sensor, new plugs, cap, and rotor. it is still doing it. its idleing so bad its like it has a cam and a miss lol. i just cleaned the egr and throttle body as well but waiting on gaskets. the funny thing is i can remove a plug wire and it doesnt change. not only that you cant even tell you removed a wire. almost forgot i checked the timing as well and it was gtg at 12 w spout plug out. im at a loss on this one man. do you have any suggestions or anything else i may be missing. i just bought the car 4 days ago and have been chasing down this issue. any help is appreciated. thanks in advance
Im going to be honest it needs to go to a reputable tuner and get looked at. Sounds like possible ignition or dead hole in the motor. Check compression.
What kind of valve covers are you using with the gt40 intake? I am having clearance issues.
Factory ones
