    Good to hear Daisy appreciates June already giving her a break from Pete’s playfulness. Caught the laugh when you said Pete has a little herding because I thought yeah but he excels in all things water related.

    Love the natural herding instinct of a Border Collie. We had one as a pet (no farm here) and he was always herding us and the other dogs around if we wanted to or not.

    Awh yayay!!!!! Seeing June interact with LGD warms my heart - even with her being older than when Bo and Lily met Pete - they’re seeming to become more accustomed to her!!! At this point I would say Pete is becoming assistant to the regional manager (Bo being the regional manager!). Peter Michael Phelps knows how to handle unruly livestock but at the same time he knows how to give with them!!!!
    I definitely think Pete will be a VERY good mentor for June.
    Anyway sorry for the long paragraph! I’m very excited to see June’s growth with the ranch animals, LGD, and Pete!

      Most people that don't work with them, seem to forget that German Shepherds are also a shepherding breed. My sister was once given one when friends were moving out of town. He would shepherd her littles as they road there bikes up & down her long sidewalk. He was about a year old & not trained at all. They wound up having to give him away to a family without small children around. She did not have the ability to train him as she was dealing with a child with leukemia, too. He would become snappy with other kids (over protecting "his sheep") just during play. He was a fine dog but his large size & strong shepherding instincts in a child rich inner city space just wasn't a good match for her.

    OMGOODNESS, the amount of Human direction you are putting into this beautiful pup and really helping her understand who, what, where, why, and when is a video. So many could learn and benefit from it even with it being so short.
    This explains why your animals are so successful. 🤔
    Genetics is the start but having the human direction letting them know what you want from them is key.

    I think there's something to be said for breeds of the same type - where they just "get" how the other dog thinks and acts because it's natural for them to be that way as well and it enhances their ability to work together and build that friendship/pack bond. Herding brain, working brain, etc. It's just a personal theory, but it seems to hold true from what I see and my own experience working with and around dogs in a broad sense (actual working and herding dogs with legitimate jobs they've been Bred to do is a new area for me) Love these videos on FB and I'm now subscribed to the RUclips!

I love seeing the amount of energy that my "annoying" adult dog can release meeting and playing with the puppy without being the normal nuisance to my older guys who tolerate him but don't give him what he really needs. I had two working border collies. A blue merle and a red . The blue was very high working drive the red one actually taught him to be more chill. They came from a working sheep farm in Wales and very good working dog lines. Their granddad actually won a one man and his dog competition. They are great dogs but need to be kept active and working as their brains never switch off. June is just like my Blue . She will be a great dog. My kids used to get 'round up' by blue if they got too loud or wild when playing it was funny.

    • @nancymoore1240
      @nancymoore1240 3 месяца назад

      Me too.
      Also. The dogs like the recon cat.

      Our next door neighbors had this huge 150 lb dog who looked like a golden retriever on steroids. His ( rare) bark would make the weeds wilt. He would come over and politely boop noses with our elderly frail cat. Then, they would go about their business.
      The dog just flipped adorably, wanting stitches. The cat went into the back yard to stare at gopher holes for hours. He got a lot, too.
      There is nothing better than a domestic cat for rodent control. We have bobcats, cougars and coyotes . None has the patience of a house cat evil- eyeing a gopher hole.
      One of the feral cats I used to care for spent 3 hrs staring, stock still, until he got it . He was so proud! He came to show me .We used to get little gross presents at our front door. I always said thank you.
      Since our feral cat population was wiped out by coyotes and dogs, we have more gophers than ever. Also some really big rats we never saw until the feral cats disappeared . Some as large as 5", without counting the tail .
