- It’s farm chore madness every eve at Raventree Ranch. Walk through the chaotic energy of the evening putting our goats, sheep, donkey, alpacas and mini steers in their place at night.
This is the time when we open up the farm to the livestock guardian dogs can better protect all of our farm animals. Our border collie Pete helps in the most comical Pete way.
This is also the time we like to catch footage for our short form videos. We love the intricate and interesting moments and interactions between the animals most miss. We walk through evening chores and show how they resulted in one of our most viral videos ever. 😆

One more reminder that the happiest dogs are the ones doing the job they know is theirs. It may be guarding livestock, it may be pulling sleds, it may be guiding a blind person, or it may be being a couch potato companion to their person. Having a job and doing it makes them happy.
I know this is an old video but what state is this farm in where she doesnt get bad weather very often! It looks beautiful! I'm sick of living in Missouri with blizzards and tornadoes and hail and thunderstorms literally all the time 🙄

Your absolutely 💯 right on this. I think anyone thinking of taking on a working dog should research what breed they're bringing into the home. Working dogs are just that, they are not gonna be happy sat in a home all day on their own doing nothing, then the owners are upset when their furniture is chewed to pieces when they get back from work. It's great to see well trained dogs doing a great job and happy doing it.

One of our LGDs eats grain with the goats.
Makes me remember wondering, is this all "fibers are good", has to make you eat dry husks.
Judge still working on befriending the fainting goats is just so wholesome
He's figuring out if he can use that sweet fainting trick to get a sick day from work. Lol

Just found your channel and it is fantastic, I've been binging all your videos.
I had a rescued border collie when I was a teenager, he was found abandoned on a nearby beach.
We rescued him and called him Mac, he was my best friend, albeit after a rocky start where he bit me but I refused to give up on him.
I noticed when we were out on our walks (in the UK countryside where I live), he was obsessed with sheep in the fields. One day he managed to get into the field and bolted towards the sheep, my heart stopped, I just knew a farmer was going to shoot him.
Fortunately I managed to get him after he had cornered all the sheep and was lying down waiting. Once I got him home I noticed he had a much more relaxed and content demeanor, and it gave me an idea.
The next day I took him up to the house of a nearby farmer (I was about 13 at the time), and asked if my dog could have a job on his farm. Obviously the farmer laughed and said "not all sheep dogs can herd sheep", but after some pleading he said "let's see what he's like then".
He took Mac to a field of older ewes and put him through his paces, he was extremely impressed and told me to bring him back the same evening.
After a few weeks of taking my dog to work, and doing some work myself, the farmer offered to buy him from me, and I immediately refused.
After a few days of thinking, and speaking to my parents about what the farmer offered, I came to the conclusion that Mac was happier working on the farm, and eventually let him go.
He worked at that farm for 6 years, until he struggled to keep up with the others. The farmer reached out to me and asked if I wanted to take him back for his retirement years. It was a no-brainer, Mac was home, and he immediately settled with our two other rescues (a mongrel and a greyhound).
He lived for another 5 years, we aren't exactly sure how old he was when he died, but the vet estimated that he was around 15 years old, I'll never forget that wee fella, he was a dog and a half.

AWESOME STORY! It's always hard to let a pet go, but you did a great thing and then to get him back for retirement is just the icing on the cake.
Watching your LGDs respond to a threat sends chills up my spine. No fear, no hesitation, no losses, 0 to 100 in a split second. Totally awesome.

You can really see how massive judge is in this video. He's only 8 months old at that! He's going to be a bruiser when he's done growing, hope to God nothing gets into that ranch then they won't survive!
OMG I had the same thought lol. I can't believe how much hes grown and hes not even a year yet he has so much more growth to do! My favorite part is gonna be when his muscles start filling out man or man he is gonna be a force to be reckoned with.

Judge is identical to a beautiful, giant dog. He was a great Dane x bull mastiff but was a perfect gentleman at all times. I miss him greatly.

I found your channel and loved it immediately I have been sharing with my granddaughter who is 5 she also loves all the animals. Her Daddy, my son, asked what we were watching and he got hooked. I love that each, or most animals were named, and that most of them have their own personality. Whenever I see a farm youtuber that showcase each animals' traits, we audience can easily be drawn towards that animal. Whether be it a goat, chickens, turkeys, cats, and dogs
Alpacas always have haughty and cute "But WHY?" Looks on their faces. 😍 One giant monching with his goats second, another gently lipping Luna's tail, revered Big Heroes showing tender love to grateful pupperoni Pete ... and racing off to save the day is such a remarkable microcosm. 🕊❣

On the farm, I had a black and white border collie Butchy, his mum Sheba and were all well trained herding dogs. Butchy would help me catch gophers as a kid…he lived a good long life.
