- Our 3 year old livestock guardian dog Lily is an Anatolian Shepherd. She is intense, focused and dedicated to protecting our sheep, goats, chickens, turkeys, alpacas, steers and mini donkey. She has formed and alliance with our farm cat Luna to protect the farm animals and train puppies. Lily is from Turkish import lines.
Lily works with our other two male livestock guardian dogs.
I had an Anatolian that had been dumped. She was so smart. She watched everything and was highly intuitive. Lost her to cancer. She had 5 yrs of being well taken care of and treasured. RIP Sasha

When Bo is alerted, he races through barking, so he presents himself as a huge "badass" with super fierce barking.

We have a 14 month old Anatolian who is my wife's service dog. Who took over from her 13 yr old Boerboel that just retired.
We used to swear by mastiff breeds for service work but the Anatolian is changing that. Super intelligent, loving, friendly with everything since being properly socialized but still extremely protective when given the right cues.
To say we are impressed is an understatement, and we have had a lot of so called killer dog breeds that turned out to be gigantic babies with the right training, socialization, and above all strong leadership

I LOVE hearing the backgrounds of your babies. And Lili is the bomb . . . The fact that she is a silent protector is awesome. .she wants some action and she will teach any coyotes who the boss is. I really enjoy seeing animal camaraderie, the alpacas see something coming and they call in the heavies! They’re seriously powerful animals but are so gentle and polite with the animals. It’s all such a lovely bond
Just recently, I came across your videos of those wonderful LGDs! And now I'm binge-watching all of your videos from the oldest👍👍👍 I don't know exactly what got me, but obviously, I fell in love with your LGDs, all three of them ❤ they are all so intelligent, each one has a beautiful temperament, and their teamwork is absolutely working flawlessly based on their well-established relationship to understand and respect each other. I love them all❤❤❤ and of course the ranch manager Luna as well as all those vivid personality farm animals!!

Lily is definitely the most dangerous of the three! Not just because of her impeccable breeding, but because of her big softy heart. ❤ She loves her charges so much, she's gonna shred coyotes into kibble to keep them safe. I love watching her work!!
I love the socio-farnomic break downs of the farm security. The way their decisions and active training are analyzed to be used for future training.

I love that this video highlights Lilly's amazingness❤️🤣 So many focus only on the size of Bo and Judge, which is impressive and I adore them too, but wait for it... size is not everything🤣🙈 They each have individual strengths and approaches and dedication to their charges... sometimes you come in with the sirens on aka Bo's bark...sometimes you go in silent aka Lily's stealth, both effective strategies, Luna doesnt scare anyone by her size... but she can get her point across... or alert Lily if she notices something not right and Judge- his superpower is tbd maybe he is a mix of both, all of which is what makes them the A team. So much ❤️ ❤️❤️ for your critters🥰

Your comment about mental health & depression hit home with me. I have a couple of things in my bag of tricks that I go to when fighting that old adversary. One is watching anything that makes me laugh. Another is watching wonderful videos about animals.
That's why I hope you'll search HERD elephant orphanage here on RUclips. I think you u would love to get to know the individual animals from this unique herd of 17 rescued elephants. The youngest is a recently rescued orphan roughly 8 months old. He was found wandering alone with no sign of his family 4 months ago.
Before that, the most recent orphan adopted by the HERD was Khanyisa, a sweet little albino calf with terrible wounds from the snare she was caught in. It made it hard for her to drink, part of her ear was severed or nearly severed, and all her wounds were infected and ridden with maggots. They nursed her back to health, and successfully integrated her into the HERD. She has grown up a lot, & unless you get a look at her in (or coming out of) the water, you probably won't even notice she's pink. Elephants usually apply mud or sand to their bodies to protect them from the sun & from biting flies and parasites. But remove that layer of dermal protection and you have a sweet little, pale-eyed pink elephant!
Phabeni (the newest little rescued calf) has been a quicker intro because he had no serious injuries.
I bring all this up because so many of us who comment there remark on the positive effect it has had on our mental health. Something about them is so very calming, and you will always feel better after watching one of those videos. It will measurably lower your blood pressure and heart rate too! An added bonus. :^)

They are fearless and will defend. All their livestock they luv them. Their nature can be fierce but so gentle with their charges. Pure protection. Love them my don has an Anatolian border collie mix this dog is wonderful luv him bunches he takes care of me. I'm 72 it's like he knows I need his protection I call him Mr Stinky he looks like he's always smiling he holds my arm never hurt always gentle luv to feed him such a gentle mouth. His name is Elvis but he's always my Mr stinky. When I fall he's right there checking me all over makes me laugh. Let's me pull up on him too so patient course we play games too he carries rocks tree kinds anything we keep his favorites luv this pup he'll be 3 in April he is beautiful and will sass me too lol💕💖

Greatly trained dogs, very traditional in how they handle things, I absolutely love it! Doing what they are supposed to! ❤
LGD's aren't trained,it's instinctive/in their dna for 1000's of years.They have to be introduced/harmoniously assimilated into flock/herd.
I agree! You don’t really train an Anatolian. They are bred for guarding livestock. In fact in Turkey they live with very little human contact. They roam freely. They are extremely intelligent, very self sufficient and figure out on their own what to do.

Wow, it's amazing how all the animals look up to Luna, considering the size difference. It's all attitude, Luna is paying you back for rescuing her and providing a loving home. Lily is an awesome dog. My female rottweiler was a silent attack on animals trespassing.

Lily and Luna are the total boss of the ranch. They'll make way for the larger males at need but they rule the ranch. Just like a pride of lioness rules the African savanna

Lily is gorgeous! I saw earlier you referred to her as a Brindle. I hope I got that right. It is obvious to me by her demeanor she can take care of business. Silent but I suspect very deadly when needed.
I’ve just started watching your channel and didn’t realize your dogs had a direct line back to Turkey. From what little research I’ve done it’s not easy to get a Turkish Shepherd directly from Turkey.
LOL! That’s exactly what I asked. Unless they have changed their laws, Turkey doesn’t allow these dogs to be exported. Apparently “infidels” where coming to Turkey, taking the best breeding stock and establishing new lines, especially in Europe. I don’t remember when it was outlawed, but the vet I took my dogs to to get evaluated, was astonished when I told her where I got them and their story. She showed me her dogs descendants which she had gotten from Turkey directly in the 70-80’s and said my dogs were just as nice as her pups. Fyi: the reason my dogs were smuggled out of Iraq was because they were going to kill them. The villagers didn’t like pintos, which is what my male was, I don’t know about the girls, they were both fawns/black masks, but the person who gifted them to me saved 5 puppies and ended up with 3 himself.
I get a warm feeling in my heart seeing how close and protective they are with the livestock more so tgen their human relationship. I love this channel.

@MyStonefish Well yes, but no matter what tradition you follow there are always the thought process that men are the muscle and women the advisors. And we do make good advisors! We just get frustrated and yell and complain when we think the Muscle side won't listen to the Advisor side! 😁
@@kimberlywalker_ as the “adviser” we should already know that yelling, screaming and getting frustrated doesn’t make the muscle listen any better. Muscle needs a soft hand and firm words. We are the finesse behind their force.
Talk softly, give the muscle time to cool down if needed, re approach the issue with a calm head, the muscle always comes around.

But in response to the convo about males vs females... This is the true key... The quickest way to get the males to do what you want or to do anything... is to plant the seed and let them think they came up with the idea. If its their idea, they hop to it in a flash! But if we females fight, argue it with them. The resistance prevents it from happening. Trust me I know. I've dealt with them all my life. I've argued and done the whole trip. Only to find within a week they did what was my idea. They don't like females being more intelligent than them! 🤣😂🤔😒
So plant a seed or make a soft suggestion. Watch what happens. Make an experiment out of it. You'll be amazed!! 🤣😂
