The writer of the film was interviewed by the FBI because when they were sent a copy of the script to review for security purposes, they realized that the basics of Simon's plan to distract the NYPD and burrow through to the money could actually work. He had to explain to them that every piece of information he'd used to plot it out was from publicly available sources and guided tours. They actually had to implement new security procedures at the Federal Reserve due to the movie so that this couldn't happen in real life.
This is probably my favorite ensemble cast of the entire franchise. Every dynamic from Walter to Joe to Charlie to Connie is so good and they’re all so colorful in their roles. It’s a shame this is the only movie we got with all of them. I could watch a whole series just based around this one department.
My favorite of the series! Sam and Bruce have great combative chemistry and I think the way 3 ties to 1 is really good. Watch the 4th (Live Free or Die Hard) but skip 5.

I know DH original is special. Especially Alan Rickman's insanely great performance. But DH3 is my favourite by far. The chemistry between Willis and Jackson, the casting, the way NYC is a character too. The script has zero fat. And within 30 seconds you are IN the story. Love it 😀
Part of this was filmed where I had previously worked on the construction of submarines for General Dynamics in SC. They brought a subway train from NY to crash inside the final assembly building. The storm sewer was built beside that building. A friend who worked on this said that Bruce Willis was likeable but very professional and focused. I of course asked about Sam Jackson but he didn't interact with him. I had one of the "gold" bars from this until I moved from South Carolina.

Jerry is the absolute MVP in this movie. They got more useful information out of him than anyone else. :D And everyone in this is actually doing their job reasonably well. Responding to threats appropriately as the situation changes. They don't whine and moan at John, they just shift their actions as new info comes up. Simon is just many steps ahead of them at the start of this.

The next one is set during the Fourth of July. I really liked it. Another generation of Bruce Willis films that you might enjoy are the RED and RED2 films. Lots of action and great casts. Thanks for reacting to this one.
Die Hard 4.0 is also very good, and more set in these modern times, and everything that has to do with technology, networks, computers, etc., hence the 4.0 in the title.
It was originally based on a Screenplay called Simon Says about a cop named Alex Bradshaw. They rewrote the second half which is why the “Simon Says” trope disappears after the Wall Street bomb.
You'll love the Lethal Weapon film series... They have the same vibe, with characters created by the same writer. Funny/serious action movies. Quite fun.
so glad that you enjoyed the movie :) the die hard series are one of my favourite movie series. lots of ridiculous situations, humour, and great suspense
Solving the 4 gallon riddle: Step 1) Fill the 5 gal jug all the way up. Step 2) Pour from the 5 gal jug into the 3 gal jug until it is full, leaving exactly 2 gal of water in the 5 gal jug. Step 3) Empty the 3 gal jug and pour the 2 gal of water from the 5 gal jug into the 3 gal jug, leaving exactly 1 gal of empty space in the 3 gal jug. Step 4) Fill the 5 gal jug all the way up again, then pour from the 5 gal jug into the 3 gal jug until it fills the 1 gal of empty space. 5 gallons of water minus 1 gallon of water equals exactly 4 gallons.
You could also fill the 3 gal up pour it in the other, fill up again and pour it in. You'll have 1 gal. Empty the other jug and pour your one gal in. Fill the 3 gal and pour in with your other and you'll have 4
The Canadian actor playing Joe, Graham Greene, played the Sioux Medicine Man in “Dances With Wolves”. He also played a Native American chief in Mel Gibson’s film “Maverick” and the Jackie Chan film “Shanghai Noon”.
Speaking of John McTiernan, who directed Die Hard (1988) & Die Hard with a Vengeance (1995), I suggest Predator (1987, WARNING!: There are two brief SNAKE shots in this one, but don't worry, it doesn't serve the main plot), The Hunt for Red October (1990, the first of the Jack Ryan film series), Medicine Man (1992), Last Action Hero (1993), The Thomas Crown Affair (1999), The 13th Warrior (1999), and Basic (2003).

I love this movie because the bridge scene (and apparently a few more scenes according to the comments I read) was filmed in Charleston, SC, long before they tore the bridges down and put up the new Arthur Ravenel Bridge, so this is now the only place I can see the two Cooper River Bridges anymore.

Fun fact about this movie. The writer of the script was interrogated by the FBI because the plan for the robbery would have actually worked. The banks and the government were actually kind of mad that they had to now plan for this type of attack.
Throughout the Die Hard series, John's right shoulder always take a pounding. 1. Gets shot 2. Get stabbed 3. Get a piece of wiring stuck in it. 4. Get shot again, twice.
This film has a lot more serious alternate ending (it should be up on youtube). Basically Simon took all of the gold and betrayed his own team too. John (who has lost his job) finds him in a bar, and they play one last game, this time with a rocket launcher.
It's a great action movie. Relevant to point out that Die Hard is known for a franchise that pick ups good action scrips and works them for the character. I don't think any of them are written as Die Hard's after the first one.
Very good 'Two and a half men' joke!! 😅😅Bruce Willis has many recommendable movies. I would recommend you not to miss these: 'The Last Boy Scout' (1991), 'Death Becomes Her' (1992), 'Pulp Fiction' (1994), The Fifth Element' (1997), 'Unbreakable' (2000), 'Sin City' (2005), '16 Blocks' (2006), 'Surrogates' (2009), 'Red' (1 and 2), 'The Expendables' (1 and 2), and 'Vice' (2015)
Okay. Allow me to try and produce the simplest solution to the jug problem. Step one: fill the three gallon jug all the way to the top, and pour it into the five gallon jug. Step two: fill the three gallon jug all the way to the top again and pour two gallons into the five gallon jug. And step three: pour one gallon out of the five gallon jug into the three gallon jug, leaving you with four gallons in a five gallon jug. Bingo.
And this scene you can call "Two and a half men" ..... slight change.. "Two and two half men" Been a while since I've seen this. Gonna have to watch it all over again. Glad you enjoyed seeing SLJ here! Take care, Addie!
Now granted my lady and I were a bit drunk when we watched this and neither of us are good at math skills but we did figure out the water jug puzzle pretty quick...we were so proud of ourselves lol.....great react as always
For those who are still trying to figure out the 4 gallons of water in the 5 gallon jug riddle & how McLane & Zeus ended up with 2 gallons in the 3 gallon jug & 5 gallons in the 5 gallon jug, here's the solution: You first fill the 5 gallon jug. You then pour 3 gallons of water into the 3 gallon jug, leaving 2 gallons of water in the 5 gallon jug. You then empty the 3 gallon jug & pour the remaining 2 gallons from the 5 gallon jug into the 3 gallon jug (you now have 2 gallons of water in the 3 gallon jug). You then refill the 5 gallon jug & then pour 1 gallon of water from the 5 gallon jug into the 3 gallon jug, ending up with 3 gallons of water in the 3 gallon jug & 4 gallons in the 5 gallon jug.

An elephant is always ready to travel because it has a trunk.
Being from NYC it was always cool to see movies in your own city lol 🗽💯
Jeremy Irons(Simon Gruber) more recently played Alfred Pennyworth in "Batman v Superman" and "The Justice League."
Bingo.
'Simon Says' was the original title for the spec script that had nothing to do with John McClane. The script was amended to fit as a Die Hard script.
I hear it was also supposed to be a lethal weapon film at one point, which explains the team up.
The fourth movie, Live Free or Die Hard IS a holiday movie. It is an Independence Day movie.
The best of the Die Hard movies!
Live Free or Die hard is only other one worth reacting to. Its just as good as the rest.
And this scene you can call "Two and a half men" ..... slight change.. "Two and two half men"
Been a while since I've seen this.
You’re watching this one too? Cool.
The plot to steal gold in this movie was so realistic/possible that the FBI got in touch with the Director.
Yess! This was always my favorite :D
David Dunn is forever my favorite hero 🙏🙏🙏I believe the overseer shall return
Ever seen Clue? The woman cop is played by Colleen Camp, Yvette.
For those who are still trying to figure out the 4 gallons of water in the 5 gallon jug riddle & how McLane & Zeus ended up with 2 gallons in the 3 gallon jug & 5 gallons in the 5 gallon jug, here's the solution:
You first fill the 5 gallon jug.
I enjoyed the 4th movie to.. I never touched the 5th one.
