There’s something similar in my city. All the Metrobus stops have been replaced with new, red stops with digital information boards. All the other stops have the older grey design. They haven’t got separate colours for each Metrobus route, but you at least know which stops they serve in comparison to the local busses. Although local busses will use Metrobus stops, Metrobusses won’t use the normal stops.

Also why did you build three trambays when youre only using one? So heres how I would fix it: Line B: Reroute the end of it to the Bustation youre placing at 37:39. Still going up Mainstreet and turn left before the currrent station. The other end should double Line A and terminate at the trainstation. Line A: Take it a block further at the couplet, upgrade the road to a asymectric three lane street with a bus/tramlane and have them turn around there. In reality there would be a dedicated Stop to terminate and to reduce/reset any delay. Im fine with the other end tho. The Transithub: Change the direction of the lower/longest tramlane. Now Line A can stop on both ways directly in the hub. Towards downtown at the middle platform, towards Riverock at the lower/longest platform. Line B would terminate at the upper/shortest platform. (In IRL maybe they do stop at the current Line A stop to unload all passengers before running empty towards their bay.) The two overlapped lines at downtown may seem excessive right now, but MTBA does this to futureproof capacity while making redevelopment more attractive. Ngl, the fact she got thousands killed notwithstanding... I'm actually starting to quite like Sheila as a character. Gets blamed (probably fairly) for a disaster, gets thrown out of office unceremoniously, raises enough capital to enter the private sector as a developer, and then slowly starts (probably intentionally) building a parallel community which keeps growing, providing services and satisfying demand which Bend can't or won't do itself. It's so fun to envision this woman being so fantastically petty she's willing to use all of her talents, money, and connections to move the county's center of gravity to somewhere she built from the ground up, to flex on people like Chuckles.

I concur - I even like a bit of bare earth when I make a cut because it's an authentic reflection of the site's history: "there used to be a hill there, but we needed to cut through it". This probably comes from a similar cut on the main road north out of town near where I grew up - just felt very natural to leave it that way, rather than soften it.

Suggestion: you have two empty tram bays at the transit center currently. You have two streetcar routes, but perhaps there’s room for a more “interurban” or “light rail” service out to the suburbs. Perhaps if the Airport and Bend/Paradise routes reach capacity levels that are no longer sustainable for bus, building light rail to cover those routes would be beneficial. This would be in a similar vein to the Twin Cities region where the Blue Line connects Minneapolis to the Airport and the Green Line connects Minneapolis to St Paul.

Loved this build, Phil! My only minor nitpick is that the tram stops at the transit center should be moved back a little so the trams don't stop over the crosswalks and line up better with the pergolas. Can't wait for next episode! :)
Great addition to MC there CP! One thing to note though is that cims are still exiting the bus station where the original tile surface extended to the roads, which you neatened up. You might want to provide visual access through the hedges, or actually run the "return" tram line directly along the back of the bus station, which would also give them immediate access to the light rail heading in that direction. Oh, and have a great time in Finland!
@@joshuashea911 67 morning commuters sue transit authority for severe leg burns from coffee spillage due to kink in otherwise perfect commute. Back to the weather.
I'd love to see road between the train station and new tram stop pedestrianised and lined with small commercial/food units. Kind of like some of the big London stations with a focus on getting pedestrians between transit safely, quickly and with added benefits like food/shops. It would make sense for some of the surrpunding residential road to be developed onto higher density following the addition of an inclusive transit system.
For the large spacing of the tram stops at the transit hub, rather change the exit of the bays to a bi-directional and make one of the bays go in the other direction. Then you can have the tram run through the hub in the other direction.
Really want to congratulate you on this one Phil. The detailing around the coast until the MBTA hub really felt good to watch and see completed, in a way I hadn't felt for a long time while watching C:S content. Congratulations!
A couple of thoughts. I think instead of smoothing terrain at the transit compound, that would've been a great place to use quay walls to show that the land was manmade using infill. I think it would've been a neat departure from your usual terrain smoothing. Also, I think there's a missed opportunity in the transit transfer point for commercial businesses, like a coffee shop and a few restaurants, or a book store. Transfer nodes like this in Australia and Europe have plenty of options while you wait for your connection, so instead of the vast empty landscaping, I think a small area of shops would be a good addition. Accessible by train customers and transit customers.
No clue how possible it would be, but I would love to see some sort of helicopter rescue station / coast guard station, as the location out into the sea/ocean feels like a prime spot.
Really loving the videos, because I've just binge watched them all. In relation to the tram stops! In Melbourne, Australia, the tram stops are always located next to a main road or a traffic light. It makes it easier for passengers to get to them. But they do sometimes follow bus services, with usually a deter to catch non bus routed areas.
I really couldn’t disagree more. I don’t feel like there is really any street level view of the city. I feel like the follow-view of transit is a compromise that just isn’t working. And the tours feel very uncanny valley with the sim speed so high. People don’t walk like that and cars don’t drive like that.
thank you for adding the yellow stripe onto the platform. ensuring detectable warning surfaces are present is a big part of my job! seeing accessibility features represented in game makes it so much more realistic - once you know accessibility rules you start seeing inaccessible places everywhere.
One small detailing you can add is, changing the color of tram stop's benches/chairs (at the transit center), is to assign them the same color as those of trams that serves them.
Always love the work you do! I think it would be neat to have all the new transit facilities follow a Pink-White-Green theme to reflect the "magnolia" aspect of Magnolia County! Not only would it create a sense of cohesiveness and really reinforce Shiela's drive to show Paradise Bay, not Bend, as the heart and soul of the county. Plus, I think it would just look really nice.
Getting local transit to Paradise Bay is a huge step forward. Nice to see that the organization has funding for both local bus and local tram services, great first step for the town. Would like to see the network grow into a full-fledged Metro system someday
Ive been watching for a long long time now. One thing that never ceases to amaze me is how you're constantly upping your game with these builds. And I might add the landscaping at the end of each episode is so cathartic. Good stuff mayne.
The first bus line you drew, the blue one, is doing a weird loop and is coming in in front of the exit, which i would imagine would cause major backups when busy.
For the transit centre, you could make the entry and exit tracks two-way and reverse the third (currently unused) track to allow both ways of the tram to access the transit plaza directly.
I'm super excited that city tours have returned to having some eye-level (ish) views again. Always felt great to see how the city looks if you were to visit!
42:41 Where the tram lines come together, you should make one side of the floor red where the red line stops and the other side blue where the blue line stops. If I were using that system to get around it would be a nice visual cue to let me know I was at the right place, especially if I was new to the community or visiting from out of town!
I'm a big fan of MBTA Route 1 (former airport) because it reminds me of the D route here in Madison, which was a big part of my commute in my first year of college. Every Metro bus driver has their strengths and boy are those speed bumps in the single family neighborhoods on the D route a ride...
Good stuff! I wonder how long it'll be before WSUP has a feature story on the new transit? One thing: with a one way bus station road, you could reverse it to prevent the busses turning against each other in the entrance and exit lanes. Edit: NVM, jumped the gun; you fixed it :)
Now that the area is getting a new multi-modal mass transit overhaul, hopefully that will mean more transit-oriented development and redevelopment with more appropriate density around transit hubs, stops, and corridors to help address the county's massive housing shortfall.
What a cool episode!! Perfect to relax after a busy day 🥵 A couple of suggestions: - Maybe it could be useful to reverse one of the tram tracks in the transit center, instead of letting it stop outside of it; it would feel more natural - the pedestrian have to walk quite a bit around the train station. Probably an invisible path added to the front of the station can do the trick Much love from Italy ❤ P.S.: I gifted your “respect the topography” T-shirt to my mother since she teaches topography classes herself 😄
Awesome build once again! Fun fact (maybe) tight highway exits are a common thing here in the Netherlands there are always signs of a maximum speed you should drive through them. Love you’re content, first time commenting tho haha. Greetings from The Netherlands 🇳🇱
Love the build! A nice transit station and great use of the tracks to make bays. It was good to reverse the bus lane in front of the station, not just because of pedestrian issues, but also because it only takes about 4 busses to completely jam up the tiny loop - you can see the busses despawn during the first time lapse. I wish you could reverse the direction of the bus bays in the station - it was an easy fix in this situation, but in others it can be hard to get the bus traffic going the right way.
Great video as always! I have one suggestion. At the bridge ramp by the tram depot move at least the off ramp to the ground level side. It would reduce tram conflicts and be cheaper. There should be room. Secondary suggestion: Flip the bus station and bus road at the transit center. This eliminates conflicts between busses pulling in and out of the station, eliminates pedestrians crossing the bus lane, makes it a shorter walk to the trams and trains and puts the station services at the center of the space.
I think the red floor at the tram platform should be repainted to blue or green, red is an agitating color while the latter are more calming, so they are more likely to be used in places that require citizens to exercise patience
Differentiating the newly formed MBTA from the rest of Magnolia County’s transit system with the new number-based route names is smart. I was a bit confused when you changed to letters for the tram routes. To make things more consistent across the MBTA route naming, try a 3 digit number, with each mode starting with a different number. Ex. Bus routes: 101, 102, 103, etc. Trams routes: 201, 202 etc. Add a train route, 300, 301? And it allows for mode expansion: 400, 500, etc.
3:13 DUDE NO WAY YOU’RE INTO KING GIZZ. I just saw them a few weeks ago, great show. Also you mentioned weezer and Mac Demarco, you have very good taste. I’ve been loving this series btw, I recently started watching your stuff and I love the way you design your cities and structure your videos, it’s so engaging.
My city has a really cool naming scheme for transit lines. We use only numbers: trams are one and two digit numbers (so 1 to 17) and buses are three digit numbers (so 101 to 330). We do nut have 230 bus lines but more like 130 because all lines starting from the same place usually have the same second digit: all lines starting from the intercity bus terminal start with 31_. This naming scheme is cool because there is nothing better than scrolling thro the transit menu and seeing big numbers like 124,101 or even 371 (the first digit could indicate the city it originates from when the transit authority swallows up other cities). This also motivates you to make more shorter, they are may be less efficient but a lot more practical and enjoyable to use, i rather transfer even 3 times (bus/tram -> tram/train/metro -> bus/tram) than have to go on a slow bus that goes through half the neighborhoods in the city. Also you said you plan to expand the transit authority and the cities connecting them into a large one. Would you consider my past proposals for a train-metro line connecting different parts of the city that are further away using the trains right of way (connecting papermill industrial area, paradise bay, rowhomes in paradise bay and the airport)? Finally the interchange next to the depos looks so good, and I like how well all the different transportation forms connect by the train station!🚊🚍🚖🚆🦵💚💚💚 And the coast line is sooo goood, in the city tour, the tram going on the coast line😍😍
Man, this video just nails the whole custom vibe! 🌟 Love how you’re tackling the homeless issue too, it shows real care for the community! Also, the flowers might look pretty, but yeah, allergies would be a whole other level 😂. Can't wait to see how the tram lines evolve! 🚋🌸
The combined bus and tram station as you were building it specifically when you were drawing the tiles out from the bus station was giving me serious flashbacks to jet set radio future. It shaped up pretty nice. I love me some good road and transit system setup. I hope that at some point in the future we get monorail once more. monorail combined with tram and buses. A transit system built of perfection.
As a user of the real MBTA (Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority aka Boston T) I get whiplash every time I hear this acronym in the wild. If only real MBTA was that good :D
Personally I think that field of flowers at the transit centre is the perfect place for some higher density transit-oriented development to make up for the loss of houses.

You should really consider a visit to Seoul. I lived there for years and am there on a visit now. Most impressive public transit I've ever seen (and I've been to a lot of the contenders) and they integrated a lot of natural and man made streams with walking paths that can have you completely unaware you're in the middle of a megacity. It's also accessable as a non-Korean speaker and cheap, for its size.

I am so looking forward to an episode about beaches and riversides!! those rocks look absolutely amazing!!! And also i think it would make sense to let the 2 new tram lines meet somewhere in the middle so that people can travel much faster if they need to switch tram lines, that might be a very european way of thinking i really don't know if that happens in the US. Overal great improvements. Keep this up!!!
Phil at (15:36) that was the most appropriate place to not soften the terrain. Its a highway project and they would definitely save money by leaving the terrain as is after blasting/digging space for the on/off ramp.
Hi love your videos! Never been one to comment much just a browser really. Just wanted to say I’ve been loving your light detailing of key areas bc in my mind it just gets too overwhelming compared to big time detailers. Something I noticed about your tram transfer station was your custom path feels like it has so much room for activities and could us a little more spice ( maybe some benches to look at the flowers, stalls, a food truck?) just in case you get in another detailing mood. Also thought about your mentioning of apartments to come to the area. It would be really nice to see some real world apartment complexes of maybe 3-5 story buildings (maybe not just zoned massive apartments on what used to be low density residential streets) with maybe a nice gated one and a grungy looking area. Been watching Infrastructuralist a lot lately too and love his style of lightly run down city areas and also makes the process seem pretty streamlined and not overly complicated which would be cool to see you expand your detailing in a different direction in a way. One last thing I wanted to mention is that a video covering mod usage would be extremely helpful as lately I’ve been dealing with a lot of game breaking conflicts and it just kills my motivation to continue building. Maybe a light session of what not to pair together or the different sets you use and how to keep it simple bc I’m a mod junkie and just get carried away trying to add all the cool new features and can’t stand simply vanilla gameplay. Anyways thanks a million if you take time to read all of this and thanks for sharing your knowledge. Really inspires to to keep trying to make things work in my own builds. Keep up the fantastic work!
@26:00 Phil, when you're planning out your transit stops, take a look at a city that's somewhat similar to Magnolia Bay. San Francisco is called the City by the Bay so I'd start there with their transit plan. Within SF Bay you have MUNI (for the city of SF) and they operate bus and light rail. The bus routes run 24 hours a day and during commuter hours they support rapid bus routes, these are special and worth talking about because they skip several stops (3/4 of the normal ones) which allows them to drastically reduce commute times for riders. MUNI is the Metro and I think it could really help your "City by the Bay". Downtown where streets are snarled Muni built a subway called Metro (then 1 level down from the Metro you have BART [Bay Area Rapid Transit] which connects suburbs to the City and then on to the Airport). But the Metro isn't just a subway, after downtown the Metro dips up to street level to connect other city districts to downtown. Sometimes the city gave the light rail its own center lane (see the 'N' Judah route) and sometimes the rail is part of traffic (see the 'L' Taraval route). For more detailed info see this map: www.sfmta.com/maps/muni-service-map There are many intelligent solutions for transit problems and to be honest I think looking at these at the end of every episode, to ensure correct functionality, would really serve MBTA. Maybe just a tad less OCD on landscape & a little more on detailing (like looking at bus, tram, and other city services to improve function). At the end of the day you spent the cash to buy and build these services, not to mention the upkeep, you maybe should see if they work...?
The transit center should really have some commercial uses sprinkled in between the tram stops and the train station. That land is way too valuable to just be used as landscaping. Here in CH we would have a cafe and a convenience/grocery store in that area even the smallest of communities.
Great video, as always. It would be cool to see the MBTA-BeRTA link bus converted to a tram once demand increases. Its design could even be inspired by the green line on the actual MBTA.

Great suggestion, Tigon! I’ll do that! And thank you!!
Please never abbreviate City Planner like that ever again thanks
@@expired_esoup I always have used CP for Phil... probably always will.
46:34 pls tell me that you are going to fix that bend in the road. it’s killing me when i saw it and the tram had to slow down for it 😅
It killed me too, lol. I record the tour at the end, so I’ll be sure to fix it before or at the end of the next one
29:00 "Dad, why aren't these stops right across the street from each other?" "Because God didn't want to zoom in cuz it would be too slow"
Really want to congratulate you on this one Phil. The detailing around the coast until the MBTA hub really felt good to watch and see completed, in a way I hadn't felt for a long time while watching C:S content. Congratulations!
Love the sea detailing, them rocks are beautiful with the interspersed bushes.
LTT backpack flex for the win!
Yeah. That's what I saw in that sponsorship... From... Uhm... Singing with earplugs? 😈😂
It is so clutch! Currently has all of my streaming gear in it!
Fantastic idea! It is possible and is needed
Thank you!
Gotta say that I quite appreciate the current city tour format. It provides a good balance of different styles, and it doesn't feel too busy either.
Can we get more 1st person views and Car POVs in Magnolia? It makes it feel like were actually walking/driving down an actual city! PLEASE!!
Ive been watching for a long long time now. One thing that never ceases to amaze me is how you're constantly upping your game with these builds. And I might add the landscaping at the end of each episode is so cathartic. Good stuff mayne.
Recently realised that "mulligan" is one letter away from being an anagram of "null gain".
IT'S A SIGN PHIL, IT'S A SIGN
😂
The first bus line you drew, the blue one, is doing a weird loop and is coming in in front of the exit, which i would imagine would cause major backups when busy.
…wait for it…
For the transit centre, you could make the entry and exit tracks two-way and reverse the third (currently unused) track to allow both ways of the tram to access the transit plaza directly.
MBTA! Lets go Boston! Lol
Glad you caught that, haha
I'm a big fan of MBTA Route 1 (former airport) because it reminds me of the D route here in Madison, which was a big part of my commute in my first year of college. Every Metro bus driver has their strengths and boy are those speed bumps in the single family neighborhoods on the D route a ride...
Good stuff! I wonder how long it'll be before WSUP has a feature story on the new transit? One thing: with a one way bus station road, you could reverse it to prevent the busses turning against each other in the entrance and exit lanes. Edit: NVM, jumped the gun; you fixed it :)
Sooner rather than later!
Nice one. Hope all is well in Finland.
Now that the area is getting a new multi-modal mass transit overhaul, hopefully that will mean more transit-oriented development and redevelopment with more appropriate density around transit hubs, stops, and corridors to help address the county's massive housing shortfall.
I've got a feeling that the new pathway between the Train Station and the new Tram Station could benefit from some benches aside the path
What a cool episode!! Perfect to relax after a busy day 🥵
A couple of suggestions:
- Maybe it could be useful to reverse one of the tram tracks in the transit center, instead of letting it stop outside of it; it would feel more natural
- the pedestrian have to walk quite a bit around the train station. Probably an invisible path added to the front of the station can do the trick
Much love from Italy ❤
P.S.: I gifted your “respect the topography” T-shirt to my mother since she teaches topography classes herself 😄
Awesome build once again!
Fun fact (maybe) tight highway exits are a common thing here in the Netherlands there are always signs of a maximum speed you should drive through them.
Love you’re content, first time commenting tho haha. Greetings from The Netherlands 🇳🇱
This is more transit expansion than the real MBTA has gotten in decades!
Transit episodes are the best.
Ooo, that road builder mod is smooth!
Finally the interchange next to the depos looks so good, and I like how well all the different transportation forms connect by the train station!🚊🚍🚖🚆🦵💚💚💚
And the coast line is sooo goood, in the city tour, the tram going on the coast line😍😍
in case someone is wondering the city is Zagreb, in Croatia
i LOVE the story at the beginning. 20 years ago, SC4 forums were full of storytelling and it was fantastic
I love the expansion of transit. You left an extra right turn on the second half of the parclo.
From someone who's been watching for a long time, it's so good to see you growing! You deserve it.
As a user of the real MBTA (Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority aka Boston T) I get whiplash every time I hear this acronym in the wild. If only real MBTA was that good :D
I just want to say that CPP's storytelling is by far the best I've ever seen in CS content. Love you since Verde Beach Ep 1.
Personally I think that field of flowers at the transit centre is the perfect place for some higher density transit-oriented development to make up for the loss of houses.
Really love how the boulders look in the water, I use that all the time to hide the rough edges around buildings near water etc.
i have been following you since Bluffside Crossing. your content is first class and I take inspiration from the way you relate to your audience. Thank you and keep doing the thing.
KING GIZZ!!!!!! Best band in the world, saw them twice this summer in nyc. Great live band. Their Milwaukee show was great.
MC looks like such a great place to live! This new transit system looks amazing!
I think that mbta should have an office of some sort
You should really consider a visit to Seoul. I lived there for years and am there on a visit now. Most impressive public transit I've ever seen (and I've been to a lot of the contenders) and they integrated a lot of natural and man made streams with walking paths that can have you completely unaware you're in the middle of a megacity.
It's also accessable as a non-Korean speaker and cheap, for its size.
Engagement. Seriously, this is high quality entertainment and I appreciate the effort you put into it.
Sometimes perfect is better than “good”. This is a simulation. Perfect is possible, and you can achieve it.
29:14 that poor cargo train😭🤣
😂
as a resident of milwaukee, i have a love/hate relationship with trams. and unlike milwaukee, this one is properly implemented! very mindful, very healing ❤️✨
Milwaukee is working within its constraints, unfortunately. We really need RTAs
Phil! Love all of your videos but the mass transit ones are my personal favorites. Keep up the inspiring work… you’ve got me reading about Robert Moses. Thanks
When placing the trees with linetool, pls make sure u selecr the "Random rotation" and not every single bush in the same direktion mode, looks more natural >w
5:35 i get so excited when the music starts 😂
I reckon MC would benefit from a sports team/stadium being added, seems about the right size for this to make sense
(A large-ish stadium)
I’m currently laid up from knee surgery. When I saw a new MC video it made me happy for a small part of the day. Thanks
You will never learn will you phil?
42:43 really loving this low key custom stop
First MC video for two weeks yayy
The detailing at the end of this video is your finest work yet!
The actual MBTA could probably use your help. lol
i would really love seeing your detail and attention brought to a super massive pop city with extensive metro connections, i just know I'd spend hours and hours watching it
I know you always claim you’re not a detailer but you are so great at it. You inspire me to do more detailing in my own builds.
Love the tram hub under the bridge, it reminds me of the Burbank Metrolink station which has bus stops and turnarounds under the olive street bridge
Looking at you put all that riprap in, and now I'm thinking that the transit center is a destination to go shore fishing!
With all those flowers, you could rename a nearby street Floral Street or Florida Road.
Ah man, That bridge fix! It looks so good now 😁
@26:00 Phil, when you're planning out your transit stops, take a look at a city that's somewhat similar to Magnolia Bay.
For more detailed info see this map: www.sfmta.com/maps/muni-service-map
There are many intelligent solutions for transit problems and to be honest I think looking at these at the end of every episode, to ensure correct functionality, would really serve MBTA. Maybe just a tad less OCD on landscape & a little more on detailing (like looking at bus, tram, and other city services to improve function). At the end of the day you spent the cash to buy and build these services, not to mention the upkeep, you maybe should see if they work...?
Why does this feel like the series is Sheila Johnson vs. Jim Jones?
Until a new challenge enters the rink… coming soon!
here in Brazil we use blue to indicate priority seats on transit, I think you should color one roll on each line blue to have some priority
I think I must redesign some of my bus lines to Tram because of the cue at a bus stop.
Thanks Phil
