MikesCarInfo Yeah, thanks for doing these "regular cab" videos. Not everyone can afford a $60k crew cab 1/2 ton or $80k 3/4 ton pickup. Lol. Btw, what was that roll of carpet behind the seats for?
i don't know about that, there's quite a bit of people that make $60 a year but they'll never spend that much. plus after taxes most people only take home about $35k out of making $60k. it's enough money to live on even if you live by yourself, but alot of that money goes to other things. so they'll probably get something cheaper.
60,000 is not a lot for a car it’s kind of cheap my moms Mercedes S class was like 120k and my dads 3 cars a gmc Denali witch is 80k Cadillac Escalade witch was like 100k and his Escalade ext witch was like 80k are all average cars and they cost more that that😂
The regular cab trucks have been growing on me. I think it'd be cool to get one with the 5.0 and make it a nice sport truck. Like a Lightning II kind of truck with the side exhaust.
i've always like regular cab trucks, it's perfect for work and all kinds of things. but trucks don't need to be sporty, cause i was never a fan of the lightning. i always say if it's not broke don't fix it, but it would if they had an ext cab 5.0L version. but if you want that you have to step up to the XLT, which is one step above the base XL work truck.
Easton Keding Same here. I made some changes to make it look nicer (on my channel). But I love it. There was a 5.0 at my dealership but it didn’t have power windows, had the ugly green trip computer and the plastic black bumpers. And they wanted to charge more. No thanks
Used to be the only thing out there.........when people bought trucks for their purpose, now they are family rides and upgrades from SUV's....drove the market prices up.
Same here, recently purchased a New Silverado Regular Cab in February, with 3 of our 4 kids now in college, I finally traded off my Crew Cab Silverado for my Reg Cab. People think Reg Cab pickups are less of a truck, The ONLY!! thing you lose is a back seat, otherwise Reg Cabs have the same Frames, Engines, Transmissions, Cabs, Tow capacity as crew cabs besides the back doors.
Damn what a great video. Very in depth!!!! And rare usually people want to see the lariat and king ranch. I can't afford that. No one ever reviews the xls. Thank you in helping me make an informed decision !!! Huge thumbs up 👍🏼
Really great and thorough review....Glad you showed the area behind the seat. Most reviews neglect this and in a regular cab that little space is important.
I just bought a 2016 f150 regular cab short bed XL with 2.7L ecoboost 3.31 E-Lock diff, power windows, locks, cruise, am/fm/cd, cloth seats, rubber floor mat, Trailer tow package with trailer tow reverse hook up, reverse camera, trailer brake controller, reverse back up sensors, aluminum 17" wheels, 2 wheel drive. Also has box link, and sport appearance package. I paid $28,937.00 out the door. I ordered mine. I must say for a 2.7L this thing is a rocket! I also have a 2012 f150 FX2 5.0L extended cab and the 2.7 is faster. I've timed my 2.7l 0-60 at 5.2 seconds. The 2012 f-150 fx2 5.0 I have does 6.5 seconds 0-60. I know the aluminum body has a lot to do with the time difference but I'm glad I went with the 2.7. Mpg is great.
I needed this video as we just purchased this truck (used) today. I didn't get a walkthrough when I bought it and I couldn't find the owner's manual. After watching the video I realized the glove box had the shelf and there was the manual. I was also non the wiser about the center seat lifting up. So, another storage area...YES! I'm retired and just wanted a plain single cab TRUCK, nothing huge and fancy, and this one fit the bill perfect with a few extra bells and whistles. I've only owned it for less than 12 hours but for the hour drive back from the dealer it was quite an enjoyable drive. I'm loving it! Again, thanks for the informative video!
This is how you do a video. Best video I have seen on here. Clear and concise. Showed us features most didn't know that were in a base model truck. Great job! Like many I'm tired of buying more than I need. Plus the 18's have upped the hp and torque.
The ones a few years ago had quite a bit of space behind the seat and doors you could open for access. Teamed up with an 8' box, they were just about perfect.
A week ago today I got a great deal on a 2017 F150 XLT 4 door 4x4, my first 4WD pickup (AT LAST!!!). I traded in my 1997 F150 Super Cab XLT which I loved. Before that I had a 1978 F100 Custom work truck that had NO options, not even a radio, and it was a 3 speed column shift. Trucks have sure changed in the last 40 years. The dealer has an exact clone of the truck in your video, a holdover 2016, and I could have gotten it for jut over $21k plus tax and inevitable dealer markups. I have to tell you that this simple little truck still tugs at my heartstrings; I can't say that it brings me back to my roots, because even the simplest F150s today are so far ahead of what I am used to that I find them rather bewildering. What's important is EXACTLY what Bill Dingo pointed out - - not everyone can drop 60 grand on a darned pickup truck. Thanks for showing something that the average hard working person can set his or her sights on.If I had a bigger driveway, I'd go back and get that white 2016 XL too, just to scratch that 40 year itch... but that would be greedy, better to leave it for someone who really needs it.GREAT video, thanks so much for posting!
An outstanding review Mike. Please continue to review the basic work trucks. There is lots of interest but dealers will not often order them so we need you to show us what is available.
love the single cab trucks. this truck would be perfect for me and my two kids to get around. I just have no way of being able to afford the payments. one day though. love the fords, my family has owned them for years and always a great reliable vehicle.
Do like I did and look for something a few years old with higher miles, it cuts the price down to about half and it's likely all highway miles on them. I got my 2009 in 2011 for 9K with 130K miles and I'm just now getting ready for something new.....starting to become a payment(s) in repair too frequently now. Much safer than cars for your children's sake. That is one of the primary reasons I went with the full sized truck and for my needs as well. Good luck....if you can't go new, just go 2 or 3 years back. Go to cars.com and set some parameters of years and price...you'll be surprised.
I would shop around, I picked up anew 2019 XLT 4x4 Super crew 5.0 8" screen radio Sync3 chrome package with chrome grille, towing package, for 33k. But I really like your choice of truck also as I grew up in regular cab trucks and love them. Like the others I appreciate your review of the base model that gets overlooked buy most.

I've got the same truck but in Green Gem but with cloth seats and 2.7 EB engine. Same trim in an XL and 101A package which is all I'd ever want for a piece of transportation. Would kill for those vinyl seats but couldn't find this truck except in cloth. Bought $250 neoprene covers, and I'd still much rather have those stock vinyl seats. Paid less than $28K. It was only $750 to upgrade to the 2.7.The highlight of this truck and what puts it head and shoulders above Toyota, Ram, and the GM twins is the 2.7 EB mated to that 6 speed AT. It's a dream, all that torque at 3000 RPM leaves no reason that I can think of to want or need a V8 unless you're scared of a turbo. I'm not. None of that downshifting crap that comes with an NA V6; very refined, but great fuel economy when I'm pudding around, and that's what you can't get with the 5.0 no matter how you drove it. And the cheapest Ram diesel would require adding a cab and at least $10.5K more as the Ecodiesel starts at $38.5K.
that is a well equipped base model truck. i wish the XL had the option of a crew cab version, but you have to up to the XLT trim to get that. i think it's because the XL is a work truck, these are trucks that go into fleet sales.
DoctorHO My 2003 XLT has less and I don't want more, so I'm probably going to buy a base model for my next truck. This thing hit all the sweet spots for me. Just gotta get that 5.0 in there.
i have a 03 F250XL and love it. no power this or that, just a basic pickup truck. my friend ask me don't you miss cruise control, i said we live in NJ, when are you gonna use it?(if you ever drove in Jersey you know what I'm talking about)
3:48 re: the seats, "feels like real leather to me"... as hands are inside of leather glove! hahaha! just had to give you a hard time, because it cracked me up!!! thanks for the great vid!
Great educational video. I like it. Now I want a new truck, lol. What would be the list price on a 2019 F150 XL similar to this? I would like to have one without the trailer hitch and with manual windows. Without electronic gadgets. Just a plane truck Two Wheel drive with the short bed. What would be the list price on a truck like I described? I hope to hear from you soon, Thanks
Nice review thanks. I see some for around $21k right now new, like they're almost giving them away. Might pick one up, seems like everything anyone might need. My Mini Cooper can barely fit my lunch, haha.
Hi guys I'm interested in this beautiful truck but debating between the v6 and the v8.. Kinda want the v6 but afraid if it's not strong enough for me and dealer doesn't have one for test drive.. So those with v6, how does the car driving?
jldude84 If we go based on MSRP the super cab is $4,000 more and Super crew is $6,500 more.. if they’re equipped exactly the same. But oddly I got my regular cab (2017) for $23,500, but they would not quote me for any of the super cabs in stock under $30,000. There was obviously more to it though, they were really trying to push out those STX super cabs while the regular cabs didn’t have that package available. I will say though, at times I regret not getting a back seat because of how limited the storage is. It’s like a sports car with no air tight trunk. I’m sure groceries would be thrown in the back seat with a super cab.
That's exactly what I have, a regular cab with a soft tonneau cover. I trust big things in the back, like when I bought a TV before. But smaller things like a tool bag or things that I don't want to get dirty like groceries (or even clothes when i pack to go out of town) I just keep up front. I'm sure I could buy a more air tight tonneau cover and a bed divider to fix that though. And its really much less obnoxious to park the regular cab. I actually found a 2015 super cab with 30,000 miles on it today for $19,999. I'm going to go test drive it and see how I feel about it.
jldude84 Interesting. The regular cab has some shaky parts, particularly the plastic around the doors, but there’s no rattle. I’m going to listen to that and see if it’s a pet peeve.
Btw this is how my Reg cab looks: ruclips.net/video/D1_04Tx6bHw/видео.html It’s pretty basic but got the power equipment and tonneau cover, and one step up on the wheels even though that’s the next thing getting replaced.
Yo bro do a video on range rover SVAutibiography if can because it is the one of the extreme off roader amd many of us want to know. Hoping for the video within few days. Anyway great job
Wow, a pick-up with an almost 7000 rpm red line. In 1989, if someone had told me a V6 pick-up would have 280+hp (89 GT Mustang had 225hp) I would have laugh my ass off.
+blackericdenice yea i used to have and 87 lx 5.0 ...couldn't afford the new 5.0 mustang so got a 2013 v6 3.7 mustang 305 horsepower ....times sure have changed
I had a 2010 GMC Sierra that was a rattletrap money pit ... something was always breaking down on that truck...two transmissions...front wheel bearings...dash cracked into pieces..(only used damp cloth to clean and kept sunshade in when parked outside) inside driver door handle broke off in my hand...fuel pump/sending unit went out... ball joints on both sides went out at 85,000( truck was stock with no lift or level kit) ...all control buttons finish wore off and at night looked like hell...tailgate latch broke the second day after I purchased it...and I had to add 2 to 3 quarts of oil in between oil changes and GMC dealer said that was normal...!??! I sold that truck and then I purchased a 2016 Ford F-150 XL cab with a 3.5L flex fuel V6 and should have done it sooner! This truck is better in every way! The ride, the comfort, the dependability, the power, the fuel mileage... awesome turning radius!!! And the list goes on...It is sad to see the poor quality control of GM....the dependability is horrible...I will NEVER own another GM product as long as I live...my dad who was a die hard brand loyalist to Chevrolet for 50 years also drives a Ford now and loves it! His 2015 GMC Sierra slt was constantly having issues with software, electrical problems, and recalls and it only has a little over 35,000 miles?! He drove my Ford F-150 and was amazed at how much an F-150 XL rode better that his Sierra XLT...he saw the features and innovation put into these Fords and sold his truck and bought a new Ford FX 4 crew cab and is so aggravated with himself for not being open minded and driving one sooner! I'm telling you...go drive a Chevy then go drive a new Ford...don't be a brand loyalist duchebag ....drive one and you will see...if you want to haul a heavy load...buy a Ford...if you want to swallow a heavy load...you probably drive a Chevy!
How much less would it be with all discounts. The price in the window is the msrp.trying to figure that out, especially in Canada you could probably add 8-10 thousand to the price tag.
I've always been a Ford guy but lately, these trucks are wayyy too expensive for what you don't get for $29,000 and change. Toyota Tacoma extracab SR with 2-wheel drive and fairly loaded with a 6' bed and tail gate damper for 23,000 and change, or with 4x4 with the 3.5 liter V-6 for around $27,000 and change Seems to be a better deal than the Ford single cab truck!
I am interested in buying this truck or 2015. Can anyone share how much they paid for it including all fees after negotiation? I know the manufacturer's recommended price but I want to know what is actually achievable when you go to the dealer. Thanks in advance.
I understand 4k is the standard but kinda pointless because 2 smartphones have 4k capable screens and 3-4 computers but 1080p will save space and it'll still look crisp
actually I do but I was speaking in general I mean you look at big car reviewers like saabkyle04 or thatdudeinblue and they use 1080p :p it's your channel but it's best if you dont use 4k because it's kinda pointless
Why is it best NOT to use 4K? Why is it pointless? RUclips resizes it to fit everyone's screen. If you had true 4K capability you would know that 1080p looks dull and blurry on a 4K screen. When everyone was watching 360p videos and 1080p came out did you go around telling people not to upgrade to HD because few people had the capability to watch it?
MSRP yeah. Also, 29 grand in 2016 is about 16 grand in the 1990s and 7 grand in the 1970s solely based on inflation. So they are really about the same price as always give or take a couple grand. Pretty remarkable that they can keep trucks this cheap when the government is constantly on their case for fuel economy and safety
The Ecoboosts don't do that well on gas either. If you drive it with any force the turbos kick on and you get bad mileage. Might as well get the 5.0 for reliability.
The Ecoboosts either get good mileage or they are fast. My Ecoboos-powered Ford gets better than the EPA ratings - but I don't drive it like I stole it either.
I drive lightweight crazy and do very little highway driving and get 15-16 mpg on my 2.7. Isn’t the best. But when I do go on road trips out of town 24-25mpg is normal on the highway. Either way it’s cut it does better than my 06 mustang lol
Really enjoy the basic truck reviews that are relativity cheep that someone can afford not 60k show more!
+Bill Dingo Thanks Bill! I try to include a broad spectrum of trim levels to help as many people as possible... not just the high rollers :)
MikesCarInfo
Yeah, thanks for doing these "regular cab" videos. Not everyone can afford a $60k crew cab 1/2 ton or $80k 3/4 ton pickup. Lol. Btw, what was that roll of carpet behind the seats for?
that's alot of features for a base XL F150 work truck.
i don't know about that, there's quite a bit of people that make $60 a year but they'll never spend that much. plus after taxes most people only take home about $35k out of making $60k. it's enough money to live on even if you live by yourself, but alot of that money goes to other things. so they'll probably get something cheaper.

XL is all you need. And they have the rubber/vinyl floor instead of carpeting. ALL trucks should be made like that.
You can delete the carpet on the xlt but I agree non the less vinyl is the way to go.
all vehicles should who needs carpet in a vehicle
The regular cab trucks have been growing on me. I think it'd be cool to get one with the 5.0 and make it a nice sport truck. Like a Lightning II kind of truck with the side exhaust.

I’ve got one with a 2.7 ecoboost. It’s as fast as anyone would ever need.
Easton Keding Same here. I made some changes to make it look nicer (on my channel). But I love it. There was a 5.0 at my dealership but it didn’t have power windows, had the ugly green trip computer and the plastic black bumpers. And they wanted to charge more. No thanks
@Armando Sturzenegger not really. If you maintain them they should just fine.. you could also say the same as the 5.0 as well. Just as complicated
There’s even a 2.7 tt regular cab putting out 500hp
"Keeping the 90's alive" ..... classic man:)
I really like regular cabs!
Used to be the only thing out there.........when people bought trucks for their purpose, now they are family rides and upgrades from SUV's....drove the market prices up.

VintageGamer.com I have a regular cab. Crew cabs are for soccer moms
VintageGamer.com I always been a fan of regular caps
Nice truck would look real good in black
I bought a practically identical truck to this about 2 years ago and it's been really great, I love it.
it feels good to see all those buttons and knobs instead of a touchscreen in 2016 :D
Sharp little truck. Wouldn't mind owning one!

I got a 2011 XL, glad that now they sell the xl with locks and auto windows.
Hope your truck is still going strong
I'm from Saudi Arabia and very thank you for this wonderful photography

THank you for posting this, you've helped me make my decision for my next truck.

Same here I purchased mines last week. I'm about to check to see if my center seat has cup holds lol
I actually prefer vinyl in lieu of cloth. Easier to clean up the kids mess.
Excellent review. Picked up a '20 a few days ago just like the one in your video. Quite a tech leap from my '04 Silverado
What a nice, basic work truck! Go for the 5.0 option, and a long bed, and you've got yourself a neat truck! (:
+Vincent D Yeah that would be a very capable truck. Thanks for watching Vincent!
love the simplicity

What a beautiful truck thank you for this I’m currently looking to get a f150 thanks for the information
Wow what comes on a base model has come along way since my 2002 f150 xl
DoctorHO My 2003 XLT has less and I don't want more, so I'm probably going to buy a base model for my next truck. This thing hit all the sweet spots for me. Just gotta get that 5.0 in there.
haha I've had my 2017 reg cab for three days ,didn't know it had that storage under USB port and under middle seat till I saw this video
This is an excellent video and a very nice truck! Thank you!

Wow that is a good deal!
Wish I could find a regular cab, 4x4, 5.0, short bed, xlt. Really like regular cabs, manual transmission. Wish they made standard transmissions still.
@MikesCarInfo Can you do a 2016 F150 XL 4X4 Regular Cab 6.5 FT bed with the 5.0 V8
you need a job
Great showing
Can you do a video of the 2016 Ford F-150 xlt regular cab short box?
i'll try :)
How about a loaded single cab xlt with the 60/40 bench, 5.0 v8, and 4x4?
Very detailed video I love it
Hi guys I'm interested in this beautiful truck but debating between the v6 and the v8.. Kinda want the v6 but afraid if it's not strong enough for me and dealer doesn't have one for test drive.. So those with v6, how does the car driving?
Just get the v8
Notice the Pure Pearl Pale White™️ color. Actually, that’s the truck to get, except 4x4, extended cab long bed maximum payload.
What he didn't say is, if you want 4 doors, add $7,000.
Is that crazy or what?
jldude84 If we go based on MSRP the super cab is $4,000 more and Super crew is $6,500 more.. if they’re equipped exactly the same.
Btw this is how my Reg cab looks: ruclips.net/video/D1_04Tx6bHw/видео.html
It’s pretty basic but got the power equipment and tonneau cover, and one step up on the wheels even though that’s the next thing getting replaced.
@MikesCarInfo do a 2016 F150 XL Regular Cab 4X4 with the 5.0L V8 and the 101A Package
its a boring bug standard work truck the you'll never notice but noone except you would ever review in "ultimate in-depth look" and i thank you for it
It may just be me but I like stripper models and make them look nice
:)
No, you aren't the only one that likes basic or saving 20K for some extra plastic and ugly factory bling wheels.
ya me to
Thanks for the videos! Very useful. The regular cab videos would be even better if you show the behind-seat storage with the seats up too.
+yogiyoda Thank you :)
Please share on Facebook and Twitter for others to enjoy
Great video Mike!!!!
it's called inflation dummies... they cost more but you also get payed more then you did in the 90s.
Yo bro do a video on range rover SVAutibiography if can because it is the one of the extreme off roader amd many of us want to know. Hoping for the video within few days. Anyway great job
of a dealership is offering one then he can do it
+Sartaj Aujla So sorry to know my fav channel is limited
I've shed a manly tear...
Short box reg cab trucks are no longer produced in America I was told, not enough buyers, want one? Have to buy used I guess.
Nice job!
Really good review!
Good truck.
I Love this car
Truck*
Wow, a pick-up with an almost 7000 rpm red line. In 1989, if someone had told me a V6 pick-up would have 280+hp (89 GT Mustang had 225hp) I would have laugh my ass off.
loved those mustangs back then
David Ilijevski I did to until Ford came out with new 5.0
+blackericdenice yea i used to have and 87 lx 5.0 ...couldn't afford the new 5.0 mustang so got a 2013 v6 3.7 mustang 305 horsepower ....times sure have changed
David Ilijevski Yes sirrr. If someone had told me Ford would have a twin turbo v6 as their top engine. I would have call them crazy.
nice video! 👍
+kyle Vanhouten Thanks Kyle!
that's a good camera
Mike how do you pull the middle seat down, I had the hardest time figuring it out.
+troy brown there is a black button on the passenger side of the middle seat. pause at 3:55 to see it.
I had a 2010 GMC Sierra that was a rattletrap money pit ... something was always breaking down on that truck...two transmissions...front wheel bearings...dash cracked into pieces..(only used damp cloth to clean and kept sunshade in when parked outside) inside driver door handle broke off in my hand...fuel pump/sending unit went out... ball joints on both sides went out at 85,000( truck was stock with no lift or level kit)
...all control buttons finish wore off and at night looked like hell...tailgate latch broke the second day after I purchased it...and I had to add 2 to 3 quarts of oil in between oil changes and GMC dealer said that was normal...!??! I sold that truck and then
I purchased a 2016 Ford F-150 XL cab with a 3.5L flex fuel V6 and should have done it sooner!
Hey Mike, have you done any videos on the 2016 Honda Civic EX-T?
+Hugo Garcia Not yet.
+MikesCarInfo Well I hope you can make one soon because that's a video I'd like to see before I decide to buy it.
are they keeping the small screen on the 2018 model?
How much less would it be with all discounts. The price in the window is the msrp.trying to figure that out, especially in Canada you could probably add 8-10 thousand to the price tag.
Stephane Menard looks like you grabbed a similar truck based on your pic hahah.
@@jmwlife2k It looks like you did, too. Lol.
@@Hahsnjs sure did hahahha
perfect work truck!
Mike the best 💟👍
+ياسر الزهراني Thanks!
good info
Hey what happened to the king ranch one?
+b pospolyta I just finished editing it. It should be finished rendering and fully published by morning.
Thank you
I miss the suicide doors on the previous regular cab trucks.
Como se llama el plastico que ba alrededor de los focos delanteros y pegan co la salpicadera
I've always been a Ford guy but lately, these trucks are wayyy too expensive for what you don't get for $29,000 and change. Toyota Tacoma extracab SR with 2-wheel drive and fairly loaded with a 6' bed and tail gate damper for 23,000 and change, or with 4x4 with the 3.5 liter V-6 for around $27,000 and change Seems to be a better deal than the Ford single cab truck!
love it :-)
I love ford
Thank you for watching and your feedback :)
Is the regular cab shorter overall? Than the crew?
I am interested in buying this truck or 2015. Can anyone share how much they paid for it including all fees after negotiation? I know the manufacturer's recommended price but I want to know what is actually achievable when you go to the dealer. Thanks in advance.
It depends on the rebates/incentives and your own negotiating skills.
$22,500 was my price. But I got a 17 right before the 18s started dropping. Maybe you can get something similar in June/July
any fully lodaded available
Regular and extended cabs-perfect sizes for a truck.
Crew cab- unless you're a carpooling construction worker, get a SUV
What is the starting price
Lol. What a cute little truck...
I'd drive this even though it's just a work truck, just slap in a 5.0 and 4X4
Exactly, that's all you need.
+BronzeChicken a regular cab with 5.0 and 4x4 runs about $37k. that same truck 5 years ago was about $25k.
Cars are too expensive now, I drive a 99 Explorer, completely loaded, $31K, good luck finding anything decent new for that now
Is that a twin turbo eco boost?
it is not
"so that way you don't have to worry about anybody stealing your tailgate" 6:10 how convenient
More common than you’d think
I understand 4k is the standard but kinda pointless because 2 smartphones have 4k capable screens and 3-4 computers but 1080p will save space and it'll still look crisp
You must not have 4K capability yet :)
actually I do but I was speaking in general I mean you look at big car reviewers like saabkyle04 or thatdudeinblue and they use 1080p :p it's your channel but it's best if you dont use 4k because it's kinda pointless
If I did get one...and I might...
It would be the 5 liter V8...🇺🇸...
So about 30k for a basic truck?
Can buy a better used truck for less than that
Interior at 9:30
$29 grand for a base model 2wd ? Puff, puff, pass
+Peter R i just paid 29k for a 4wd Ecoboost XLT extended cab like 3 weeks ago.
There are always used trucks.
Peter R LMFAO😂😂😂😂😂😂
Actually about $23K for a base model 2WD - and I've seen them advertised for $19,999.
Video would have been so much better if he had talked more about quick access areas...
#SECONED
I'd go with the 2.7 EcoBoost and FX4 I love the V8 but it's to much of a gas guzzler
Either way it’s cut it does better than my 06 mustang lol
disel?
Nope.
Nobody offers a diesel 1/2 ton unfortunately, even though GM offers a diesel midsize.
Can't you get 8ft bed anymore. Does anybody build a real work truck
...Did you say the steering wheel doesn't dig into your Buns.....LoL.........;-),,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
i live near conway ford
