Apple care is good for MacBooks and costly iPhones( pro version above 1lakh). I bought it coz it gives peace of mind now I can freely use it. And while selling also extended warranty will help
The third party repair shops don't really have an idea. Most of the time it's going to cost almost the same as what authorized service center would charge you. From my experience of having owned multiple apple devices since 2015, and having tried couple different third party repair shops as well as authorized service centers. There's not much difference in what it would cost you for repairs. The third party service center would straight up charge you for whole replacement. They either don't want to spend too much time to actually do chip level repair, or they don't have access to the specific parts needed, or they just want to make extra profit by quoting full price but actually just changing a part that costs fraction of the quoted price. You never know. Either way, apple after sale service is India is not very good, specially if you are paying 40% more money over the actual cost.
Well explained. One question - Is the service fee for a claim fixed or it varies depending on the extent of damage? Planning to buy Premium care for a MacBook Pro, but the service fee of 25,900 seems atrocious

1. Have you tried 3rd party replacement for macbooks (earlier macbooks) or iphones or have any idea about approximate rate cards? how much does it usually cost? let's consider logic board replacement? as per applecare+ it will cost around 45k INR.
2. consider M1 to be the latest chip, so let's see if after a year some issue happens with logic board of m1, what are the chances of getting replacement for this in 3rd part stores? any idea? I guess the logic board of earlier mac's and new mac's will be different so it may cause issue at 3rd party stores.
Need your views bro, I will buy macbook in next couple of weeks.
The chances of such a situation is low and Apple care+ is too expensive, third party solutions are the only hope

Hi, I had macbook 2017 air .. I never had issues with it until now , macbooks have a problem where they don't detect their internal ssd which gives you a question mark sign on your display, for that I go to apple they told me it will cost around 35k and I thought for such small issue why don't we try third party. I give my mac to a guy who knows stuff and he repaired it but then again that happen and at that point I was willing to pay 35k so I went to store they check the mac and they said it will cost 60k cuz they saw modifications , so what happend is the part goes to Apple and they give you a new part with an exchange price rate

Same has happened to me .Luckily , I have limited warranty. I have no idea what will happen if it happens next.

Wrong info. 2.5k extra fee is only for accidental damage. If there is normal warranty problem there wont be any extra charge.
But what about the extended 2 year warranty, would not that be great if you donot fall in accidental damage category

Your explanation wrt the type of damage and the costing is completely misguiding. Its not like you are paying so much for nothing. Its an extended warranty for a total of 3 years and no one damages the phone to that extent unless a person has met with some terrible accident.
I am looking to buy base macbook air , i am not sure whether to go with careplus ( is there any chance of damage in display ,storage or motherboard due to excessive heating in air) as it will be costly to repair after 1 year warranty without apple careplus. (Background: CS student, main purpose: software development with little gaming/ media consumption)

@@proton3773 no i did not opt for m1 macbook but it can be a good option for the price around 75-80k and for heating concerns , it may compromise your CPU Performance but will not harm it. for beginners it is a good option.
