I’ve been doing TAM for two years. I’m in the best shape I’ve been in for over a decade. I measure myself periodically. It helps. I also take selfies in full length mirror to track my progress. I totally agree about making a space for your TAM practice. Some weeks I workout 6x week. Others 3. But the general consistency has def paid off. I used to do orange theory. I was inflamed, tired from the overtraining.

That is incredible! Isn’t it surreal in a way - that you can love the way you look AND feel? I did orange theory at one time too and it was not good for me either!

I used to do orange theory as well and had to quit because of the noise level and they had no diet program to go with it. Last time I did TAM exactly the way she said to do it, I lost 13 pounds in three weeks and I had tons of energy and looked amazing and everyone kept asking me what I was doing. I'm back on track now for Summer and for the long haul, because it works! Thank you for sharing, it does take a lot of motivation, but the motivation pays off for once...

Thank you for sharing this, I been doing tracey anderson for 17+ years i go and do something else and always come back to tracey Anderson Method, lots of people criticise the method, but is a reason millions of woman keep paying for the membership and is because it works, I love how my body feel strong, no injuries, the meditation feeling, I agree with the investing in a good sep up, after years finally put the heaters and the humidifier machine and what a difference,

I began incorporating Tracy Anderson method into my other routines in my 40s and I did see changes in my body that I have not seen before. I let myself down through lockdown and gave myself an excuse to take a very long rest from exercising and now I regret it. I have to commit and maintain the program to achieve the results again. This will be the second time that I have let myself go begining 2012. That's saying is true "You'll lose it if you don't use it". I hit 50 year's this year and I will achieve the body of a twenty something again!

I went into TA’s RUclips page. She doesn’t seem to have many free (non talking) class, those are the ones I like lol. I already tried one of her move classes and enjoyed it. Would love to try her dance cardio didn’t see those on her page either. I’m just taking a break from strength as my 56yrs old and feel so aching all the time. Would love to try this for a bit to see how my body feels and reacts from it.

I am 60 years old and fairly fit although sitting at a desk for 40 years has really impacted by physical ability. That being said, it is very important to understand your limitations. I have read people say that they hurt their back after doing TA's program. I know from doing pilates for years, that I have lots of limitations and I'm still working on them. For example, my front hip flexor was so tight when I started pilates that it took me years to do a low lunge without wanting to cry. My hamstrings were so tight that I couldn't sit on the floor with my back vertically straight.
I know my posture could be better. I use my stairs, with the back leg 3 steps down and push my hips forward, after a few rounds, I twist from side to side.
I also use my inversion table when my back feels tight. I have a problem with my lower back and Tracy's leg extensions and planks really stress my low back. I go slowly and stretch my low back in between sets if I have to.
I've had the Metamorphosis program for about 4 years and dwindled down to doing my favorite moves. Not a great approach, right? Well, I'm committed now and do my best.
I think most people cannot just pop in the DVD and try to bang it out. Unless you're 21 years old, your body will tell you what it doesn't like. It's unfortunate that it's discouraging and people will quit altogether.
This video was on point with the progress chart. It's small steps forward and some backwards!!
For motivation, I read books by David Goggins. He was a 300 lb. loser that was determined to be a Navy SEAL. This guy did not give up on himself. He's a little off-the-charts but even halfway there for most people is enough.
    OK, I'll stop now...🙃

I was injured by a vehicle (broke my tibia) at age 12 and was rear ended on I-95 resulting in a hip and knee surgery. So right side is weak. I was a semi professional tennis player. Tracy is incredibly passionate, if you get her you get her. If you don’t, you don’t. Erika boom is badass. So many people are put there who want to share this experience. I’ve ejected people from my life for not being supportive of my commitment to this method. Feel it. Love it. Show up for yourself. It feels great!!! Thanks Rachel!!!! Xxxooo

Thank you for this video. I am happy to hear someone else doing TA levels up, then goes backward, is really consistent, and then isn't for a while... I really have to wrestle with myself to tell myself it's okay, that I am simply honoring my process. But underneath I really feel like a failure in TA a lot for this non-linear progression, and wonder if someday I will actually embrace it the way other women seem to, looking forward to it every day & doing it with great enjoyment. I don't enjoy the burn. I don't enjoy the sweating running down my butt. I don't like the physical "struggle" feeling. I just know my body appreciates her work & it WILL insure long-term health as I age, better than other workout methods. I hope someday this shifts for me, but I won't give up. 💪🏼

After watching many TA workout clips & trying a few, I think 6 days a week of these workouts is excessive. There's too much learning curve & guess work due to lack of verbal cues, which also serves to make the longer workouts extremely tedious & drawn out. Regardless of TA's reasons & explanations why, I find the lack of verbal cues unacceptable for a professionsl trainer. Breathing matters too & people need to be reminded when to inhale/exhale to maximise core engagement. There's too much trial & error with her unconventional moves, for which there is NO voice guidance, except a pre/post workout chat. Way too risky for injuries for anyone, particularly those not familiar with pilates or dance training. This workout is designed for dancers who want/need to be reed thin, like Erika Boom, who you recommended as an example of correct form. Most women these days want toned curves & Erika Boom, while a good example of correct form, is not a good example of the average, non-dancer body type. She's very toned but also a natural classical dancer body type. Many of us will never achieve a body like that even if we want to (personally, I do not want that body & much prefer curvy hips, chest & booty). For curves & sculpting, doing a TA workout no more than 3 times a week, weights/resistance training 2-3 days/week & walking 8000-10,000 steps at least 4 days a week will get you faster & more lasting results, and you'll stick with it long term because it's varied. Of course, if the diet isn't right, you'll be lucky to see any results. A clean diet is so crucial for maximum results. You would get the same results by substituting the TA routine with pilates or circuit training. To do the TA method 6 days/week will very soon become unsustainable & boring. It's a hefty time commitment. I admire your dedication & value your opinion, Rachel. I don't know how you stuck with the TA method for so long, especially at 6 days/wk. My own opinion is that the TA method is unsustainable at 6 days/week and a road to slow results, boredom & incorrect form with little/no verbal cueing. I am 60yo & a trained dancer, so I know that correct form & mind-body connection is essential to maximise results, but not to the exclusion of verbal cues. We can do both at the same time & I find it lazy to not do any verbal cueing. I'd rather do a Jane Fonda or Karen Voight workout any day - both excellent examples of good form & verbal cues.

I actually think the Tracy anderson mat workout is better than yoga because it leans you out and you basically can't do it wrong. I used to be in tears from yoga because I did something slightly wrong and it turned my back into agony. If you have an injury maybe just try walking for 45 minutes a day and doing the hour of mat work. That alone makes such a difference. Just make sure to do it at least 5 times a day.

She says to mix it up but I never do and it totally works! You literally don't have to worry about not being thin. If you're worn out from dancing maybe get really good incerts in your sneakers and just go for a long walk every day in addition to the class online. That way everything is free and you can do it all when it fits into your timeframe.

Splitting up dance cardio and the mat workout so that I do one in the morning and one after the workday has been something I’ve done that’s helped. But then there are weeks i don’t do dance cardio at all and may fit it some walking. One TAMer I follow on IG is "madmenopausal" - if you feel comfortable with it - you should shoot her a message! I am sure she would be happy to answer your questions! It is so nice to know that you are not alone in that dreaded phase nor the TAM journey!

I'm 52, and there's no reason to dread menopause, gals. If you hydrate daily, eat enough and a balance of macros and tone down the exercise so it doesn't create stress, you'll breeze through it. Honestly. It's not a curse or something to dread.

As far as the rebounder - I used to use it all of the time but because my current space doesnt have room for it - i have gotten out of the habit. If you have space for it, I do recommend it. Especially as a way to wake up the lymph first thing in the morning. Once i have my updated space i am going to be using it again which i am excited about. It is one of those things i find that I had every intention of using a lot - and i have just gotten away from it. I bet you can get some great black friday deals on one this week though!

The biggest part of losing weight is diet. Exercise will strengthen and help give your body shape. It's called body composition. It will add some to weight loss. But what you're eating is the most important thing.
Also don't weigh yourself more than once a week. Weight can fluctuate daily. (You'll often gain some around that time of the month for example). So you don't want to weigh too often. It won't give you an accurate picture. That's why you saw you gained some. But that can happen with any workout. It's normal. Hth.

What is considered “a while” (to see results)?

    • @RundownwithRachel
      @RundownwithRachel  2 года назад +2

I wish there was a straight answer. It really depends. When I first started, I noticed results in a few weeks. Much of that was because I stopped doing workouts that were inflaming me and I wasn't as puffy. At the same time, my results have continue to improve slowly but surely overtime. However, there are some weeks where I feel like I back track and don't have results and get frustrated. But I have had to admit thats often my lifestyle choices 🍷. It also depends on how often you do the workouts and what workouts. For instance, doing the mat classes and dance cardio will bring different results than just doing the mat workouts. If you are an online studio member, it may be worth asking that question in the community as you will get so many different answers.I hope that helps on some level!

The whole program was a total let down - The videos are poor quality and unprofessional, the music is terrible, and they still billed my card after I cancelled, then did NOTHING to help once I informed them of the error. They get less than 1 star in my book, and I hope everyone spends their hard earned money on a program backed by science and run by kind, helpful, and caring people - Both the Tracy Anderson Method and the employees entrusted to care for her subscribers were a complete disappointment, and I can't in good conscious recommend this program to anyone I care about, I can only share my experience and hope it prevents others from feeling this same frustration

You have to know your limitations - I have a lot of them. I go slowly and stop and stretch in between. The harder the moves are, the slower I have to go and I only do what I can for that day.
I have a lot of back problems too and I work at managing it. I constantly have to work at correcting my posture.
