    I am a certified Pilates instructor with quite a bit of anatomy and aligment training. I have and will always use some of her moves. I find them quite unique and challenging not only for the body, but you have to think about what you are doing. However, I add the proper form, cueing and modifications and it is a win/win. My students are getting fantastic results and have a lot of fun with the exercises.

    Love Tracy Anderson's method... I am so happy she is sharing what she has learned after years of research with women who have had troubles getting in shape and losing weight. I never studied the body as she has, and even knew about the importance of working the accessory muscles before reading Tracy's book and working out to her DVD's. Thank you Tracy! PLEASE continue to create more DVD workouts to purchase on DVD. Your routines are phenomenal and I can't conceive of my life without them now.

    Her workouts work on muscle separation giving you the defined look without having to use a heavy weight and these are great workouts for people with back issues as it's not putting too much stress on the back.

    her following? it exists because she gives results. Coming from someone who Has lifted heavy weights and developed bulky muscles I did not personally like, I realized after her videos this is THE workout to transform your body into a long lean shape. Plenty of people want to be generally toned but her workouts are designed to give a very specific shape- look at her toned limbs after babies and you see exactly what the potential is. if that is what you're after, she is your girl. Though kickboxing or similar activities, dancing, etc. are also as effective bc they work on the same principle of not isolating specific muscles to be overdeveloped...you don't have to do her exact workouts. I just know I am happy with my body and could not have done it without her philosophy. The disclaimer is -obvi she is super skinny in this video but it's our society's preoccupation with self-image to focus on that and not her message of being healthy and fit and strong which you can easily see she is..and skinniness is relative -she is healthy and probably closer to what our ancestors looked like than majority of what is considered a healthy weight in today's society if you think about it..

    I seen you on Bethenny, and I really heard what you were saying about exercise so I typed your name into RUclips. first I watched the video and was like yeah I can do this, I have to do this. I was really excited about starting something. I went down and read some of the comments and was surprised at the negativity and the doubt that was expressed, I found it to be so rude. I realize that all have opinions, but to say you are a liar and the plastic surgery remarks, I feel was so wrong. I need positivity in my life. I love your attitude towards exercise and I think your awesome, and I will be fitting this in to my day now, Thanks for the video and Thank you for all the awareness you bring to exercising.

    I agree that it may be more effective to take some beginning ballet or pilates classes for a bit first. People also complain that she's hard to follow, but those in dance learn to mimic movement. She also counts in eights like a dancer. I love her workouts but I've been doing ballet for 23 years and have often wondered how non-dancers get any results. But maybe that's why she says to do so many reps because when large muscle are exhausted, your body will begin to activate the smaller ones.

    I picked up her mat exercise DVD on clearance (less than $5!) and thought, pfft! Easy!
    I'm "farm fit" I'm active, I have a hobby farm to take care of, walk a lot, lift 50lbs or more on a regular basis.
    This is MUCH harder than it appears! It reminds me very much of pilates....doing "simple" movements but with control and exhausting the little stabilizer muscles. I was so sore the next day, lol
    Nice dvd to rotate with. And, I do "bulk" up very easy...I get a lot of shaping benefits with pilates and expect the same results with her exercises.

    Tracy is amazing!!! A woman who knows what most women want, to create a defined toned feminine body. Not what many male personal trainers give you! AS I see time and time again! Women do bulk up fact, so tracy works with stopping that from happening so listen and actually try the exercises and you will see an amazing difference that goes beyond any squat motion every Personal trainer will give you! Please just try!

    • @abundantlife4758
      @abundantlife4758 4 года назад

      Katherine Grace - I totally agree, so many trainers do a one size fits all method for women and men. Not all women have naturally skinny frames, curvy endomorph types who start squatting with heavy weights really can bulk up their thighs and calves which many don’t want. Tracey’s method is different and works on lengthening and toning, without bulk. We don’t all have the same body types and we don’t all wish to look the same.

    Tracy's exercise DO work amazingly. I know, in theory, women can't bulk up but if you're like me with a bit more testosterone - I do bulk up and I prefer a leaner look. These moves are not for beginners though, you need to be pretty aware of your body and muscles before you start TA otherwise you will do it wrong and it's a waste of time. I suggest to start with aerobics yoga or smth like that and once you start to "feel" the movement, do TA. Oh, and cardio, I do run for my heart.

  • @kelljA

    lifting heavy is NOT for everyone, stop listening to the BS... for long lean muscles you must stretch the muscle as well as strengthen.. as a female who does bulk... pilates and yoga are the best for my body type.. this workout wether you like her or not can and is effective. All those that "lift heavy" good for you, but that is not for every body and girls can bulk... I've se crossfit women and they are are squat and over muscled.. like or hate it do what workd for you.

    • @abundantlife4758
      @abundantlife4758 4 года назад

      KJA - tots,yo agree, so much depends on body type and shape- where you store fat/muscle. If you are slender ectomorph then you can probably weight train with heavy weights and not bulk, however, a curvy endomorph who has more fat/ muscle can easily look bulky and stocky especially if short and that doesn’t look that attractive. I love dance cardio, swimming, walking, then mixed up with Pilates, yoga, barre, and toning exercises that don’t use weights. No idea why most people can’t accept that we are all different and as such don’t strive for the same look

    first off relax, take a deep breath. I agree that she is a marketing tool, but just because someone might have a degree or been working in a field it does not mean he or she knows how to do something. I've had trainers at my gym tell me that lifting weights are a waste of time, others have told me that running is horrible for you, other have told me that interval is the best thing to do, the same doctor that tells me that aspartame is bad you, does not hesitate to offer me prescription drugs

    6:27, what a nice wobble on the inner tight.
    The trick about having lean-long look it to have very low bf. And very little muscle. For most of the people this two doesn't go together - vide the skinny fat look. On the hormonal level, our bodies usually don't like this mixture. So you have to chose - either stay with average muscle mass and a bit heavier, or gain muscle and cut - which results in more athletic look.
    You can basically assume there are only two actions, that influence the look of your body: muscles growth and weight loss. No toning, elongating whatever - ONLY growing muscles and losing fat (if you don't believe me find some scientific explanation for this fit nomenclature for women).
    This way the most efficient way, to get the body you want is to build muscle as long, as you reach the level you want - and then just reduce the intensity; and loose as much body fat as you want - and then stop dieting/fat burning workouts. No need to make ridiculous movements for an hour a day, that neither build anything nor help you loose fat.
    Toning is a scam :) Sorry to say. I would love if it worked. The same results you can get with some form of resistance training and a bit of cardio - only faster.

    • @Honeyfaced1
      @Honeyfaced1 6 лет назад +5

      Actually, the "trick" to having long lean muscles is to work the muscle from the essentric or elongated position, working through the full range of motion. It is not a "myth". What you wrote was untrue. I am both a personal trainer and a ballet dancer as well as a Pilates instructor. Please do your research again.

    • @Pretendkid
      @Pretendkid 8 лет назад +1

      Do you not understand how hard it is for women to "look bulky"? Women simply don't have the testosterone to get ridiculously ripped like men do. Real strength training will make you look more """"toned""" way faster than any of this Tracy Anderson nonsense.
      source: I'm a 18 y/o female. I want to look "toned" but being toned is a combination of building muscle mass (*gasp* the horror!) and losing body fat. Gaining muscle mass is a slow and stubborn process for women, even for those who use conventional bodybuilding exercises.

  • @makurakotoba1595

    I love Tracy's workouts, but I don't think they're for beginners. A lot of the movements and angles are hard to pinpoint without guidance or the kind of body awareness dancers or people who practice pilates or yoga have, so if you are just getting started there is a big risk of injury or just doing the moves wrong and getting no results. That said, I think she does her best, but she lacks the formal training to give the most helpful cues. So talk to a trainer first, then try Tracy.

  • @amandavodder2641

      the point of tracy's style is to make a body as small as possible. she eats and trains to stay small because she is short. it is meant to work on your body in a way similarly to pilates. heavier dumbbells should not be held in the positions she uses, that could be physically harmful. but like i said, her "method" is not for gaining strength really, its to slim your body, your fat and make your muscles long and lean looking.

    • @ethereal_aurora
      @ethereal_aurora 10 лет назад +4

      Sigmarsson your stupidity, fear of knowing anything real about tracy's method of body sculpting is keeping you ignorant... please, read up on who her clients are and how great her products are. the ingredients in her products are perfect... if i myself had the money to purchase her wellness shake mixes, i would be all over it and drinking them daily... educate yourself so you don't make a fool of yourself so badly, so hatefully. just your hatefulness is a huge factor in how open minded you are towards learning before speaking about something.

    What annoys me slightly is that you don't even need to do any type of physical activity to look like this. All you need to do is cut the amount of food you eat. Rather drastically. Not dogging the lady, her cardio workouts do good like any other cardio video would, but I don't think her methods are anything someone can't figure out from just sitting and thinking in depth a little bit.

    its not a method. its like someone playing around with their body in front of mirror and thinking any of what they are doing is an actual exercise that does something. beyond words.

    She has no hips. That isn't bad, some women or men find that attractive. However, if she wanted a bit of hips...Tracy ought to be doing some serious "abductor" strengthening exercises (side thigh muscles).

    I really want Tracy to eat! She is the size of a small child!! I couldn't even watch her once she got on all fours. Her hip bone in those teeny tiny pink shorts was protruding. It did not look good. TRACY GIRL EAT!!!

    Hollyweird buys her babble. She is marketing something new and inventive, but it isn't. She doesn't explain what she is really doing and why it works...you just have to "believe" what she says. What are her credentials? Is she a CPT, a certified Primary Group Exercise Instructor, or does she even have a degree in ANY type of fitness area, like Health? Bunco stuff!

      @@adminemails I was referring to her plastic surgery and how different she looked to me at the time.
      I wrote this comment 7 years ago,i'm a different person today and i understand that it was a rude comment .Yet your comment is also rude.
      And to answer your question,do i look dreadful comparing to Tracy?absolutely,i never doubted that.
