Loud Leslie Horn on Durbin and Greenbrier Valley EMD FP7A #67 🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊

A few glimpses of the Durbin and Greenbrier Valley excursion train "New Tygart Flyer". First it is seen blowing its loud Leslie RS5T horn crossing Poe Run Road in Elkins, West Virginia, just after coming out of the horseshoe curve as it is returning from it's trip. Then we see it pull into the station to discharge passengers. Now empty, we see it crossing the driveway of J.F. Allen Aggregates Quarry. Next it crosses Bridge Street in Junior, West Virginia, then finally we see it pulling into the storage yard in Bellington, WV. Lots of interesting stock sitting around in this yard, too! Excellent - two F-types working and looking good for their age :) My favorite engines are F-types. I like the "Radio Equipped" tag by the cab glass :) Some nice B&O and C&O engines and what looks to be an ALCo in that yard area too.

I've ridden on E units, have seen many F7 A's amd B's working along with newer GP's and SD's in locomotive consists. The sound of such a six or seven unit consist pulling a heavy train at speed up the grade at Bayview would rattle the yard-office windows.
Anyway the cab design of these E and F units is totally impractical, seemingly mimicking 30's and 40's auto styling. Poor visibility when backing, the only effective view forward through the lowest corners of the windshield. Boarding the cab requires a six-foot vertical climb, the climb back down even dicier.
Crews I worked with did not favor these locomotives, although more acceptable in passenger service.
