His race used to be a bunch of contstantly on fire star conquerors that was so much of a threat, that The Guardians (from GL) decided to make them afraid of fire and seperate them into two races so they may spend more time against each other than against others.

Clark Kent does not remember the death of his people, and so he's insulated to a degree from that tragedy, whereas J'onn J'onzz faced the full brunt of the Martian genocide as an adult, and yet he still is ultimately a very compassionate hero. Despite seeming more "alien" in his appearance, he feels like a character with more heart and humanity than Superman.

Though he was beaten by...Plastic Man. Who is equally the most misunderstood and underrated hero...that man is terrifying. J'onn gets little love. He has died almost as many times as Bruce Wayne's Parents. All because he is THAT powerful. DC has to kill him off before he overshadows Superman. That is it. They are protecting Superman. Much like how they downplay Captain Marvel...I mean Shazam. The two Super Beings that could take on Superman and likely win. Another being Aquaman but really Aquaman may have a chance if he got Superman in the water. Yet he could still hold his own. (Another underrated and often joked about character)
Good timing, I just watched ComicsExplained's "Omega Level: Martian Manhunter" today. It's interesting to see what each comics communicator chooses to highlight, shapeshifting here more than there for example. The Martian Manhunter is also my favorite DC hero, sadly he is very underappreciated.

Yes Martian Manhunter is a mega beast, I have always liked this character I even enjoy the live action adaption of him on the show Supergirl and on other things (no spoilers for those who have not seen it yet). On the animated show Justice League Unlimited I loved the storyline they came up with when it was time for the Martian Manhunter to connect with his new home; Earth. The storyline was rich and deep; the same could be said with the Supergirl storyline for MM, I refer to a remark that he said during one of the episodes of how he really understands that life on Earth is not easy for everyone, "I've live on Earth for many years as a Black man, I know how hard it is". A solo film with him involving the white martians, his alternate personalities and perhaps some human caused catastrophe would be cool. Leading up to Ma'Alif Ak.
I always thought that for a being as powerful as him fire was kinda weak. Like the Bat said "I have a half-million dollar rock for the one in Metropolis, for you all I need is a dime for a book of matches"😎

I remember meeting this awesome, incredible character in Justice League the animated series from the Timmverse.
Honestly I like the storyline where martain manhunters weakness to fire is a mental thing more then a physical thing mainly because of the potential for progression with said story line...
like i want to see MM find a way to surpass this mental block and learn to control that power over fire himself...

Poor Martian manhunter always shoved aside in big media. He should have had multiple movies by now. There’s so much to his character is a true shame he isn’t used more often.
