  • After six years of pondering how I can not only create this effect but make it without a massive studio budget. Well, now I've finally figured it out and I'm very excited to share this with you all!
    Blender and After Effects were both used in the creation of this effect.

    I should let it be known that I've been trying to achieve this effect ever since I first started watching The Flash back in 2014. It's been a great hassle trying to get the look almost exactly identical to the show, but I had no way of going about it until now.

    Yo I'm the guy from reddit, I also just now found the time to watch your tutorial, and that was amazing, and it's super cool you've made a tutorial, which I think is very solid. Definitely gonna remember you when the time comes that I finally do something involving lightning in Blender. Hope to see more inspiring work.

    what version of blender do you use? everytime i try to do this it isnt a thin line like lightning

      I believe at the time of recording this I used version 3.0. I could be wrong, but it should be able to work in previous versions. If not, I would just update to the latest version. Best of luck!
