When I was in primary school, I was in a chess team with Thomas. We went on to become champions of Apeldoorn and also played for the national title. Thomas was board 1 (ofcourse) and won all his games. Sadly, me and the other teammates couldn't win as much so no national title for us. We knew Thomas was gonna make it far and to see him being analysed by Agadmator warms my heart. Congrats Thomas! Can't wait for you to become GM!
I was following the game in the sports hall, Eline was in time trouble and she had to find very precise unique moves, the position vas very tricky. After resigning she felt completely destroyed, because she knew she had a won position, her face was a poem. Tough defeats that hurt too much when you are a 16 yo player. I hope she recovers from that loss, still lots of games to be played in this Tata Steel Chess Championship.
Heartbreaking how she was ahead the entire game but couldn’t find the crucial king move. Very proud of her for playing that thrilling line. We don’t get to see these lines where both queens are out gobbling up pieces in a wide open game very often in top level chess. Great game to cover Agad! That was fun.
@@brianlittrell797 I picked it because after you do enough deep level research you'll see we are all hybrids of the Anunna/Anunnaki. 138 is the Phoenix Phenomenon periodicity of 138 years. It will be activated May 15, 2040 and this world will be a very different place :)

Reminds me of the saying by Johan Cruyff (talking about classic Italian football): ''Ze kunnen niet van je winnen, maar je kan er wel van verliezen.' - ''You can't lose against them, but they sure can beat you'' Eline found wonderful moves, but the downside of attacking chess became visible. The incredible complications sometimes take too much time to calculate and every inaccuracy can turn the whole game around.
Let's not sleep on Thomas. If one inaccuracy was enough to give him back the game, it's because he did an amazing job at making it tricky for Eline. Overall a great, entertaining game by both.
@@jx14aby You also have to respect Beerdsen for fighting on and on under such a barrage, making it as hard as possible for Eline, so much that one inaccuracy by her was enough to give him the game back.
I love to watch matches which proceed with the 4th or 5th most played lines. These require calculations at a very early stage and the pieces are the most random over the board.
In 3:15 you say that black has 2 pieces for the rook - in fact white has a rook for the bishop. Yes, black is up 2 pawns, but pawn structure is not great. With white being so much up in development it seems that white is much better in this position, if not winning, I don't know the evaluation though.
Mr. Beerdsen also had a completely lost position against Supi, but managed to even the game and almost win. It ended in a draw tho. A player to be respected.
Sorry for Eline, it is bad to lose a game after being ahead all the time and I also like to see a woman succeeding. Thomas deserves victory, he fought fiercely and won this beatiful, thrilling game!
Wow, fantastic game. In the alternate line at 9:35, I'm not seeing why ...Bd6, Rg1 is resignable for Black, when she can interpose with her B at f8 - so Rg1, Rd8; Rg8+, Bf8 (or Rxd6, Rxe1+). Which is not to say the line she chose with Bxf6 isn't superior. Also worth noting, at 8:00 Black is threatening not merely "all sorts of discovered checks", but quite specifically the excruciating Rc1 double check and mate!!😅
Can't say how many times I played against the French with my pop (over the board expert/postal master) over our fifty years, but I can say I never saw the position at move 10. If I did, I would have given up 1. e4 forever against him even though I never cared for 1. d4 Thanks 'Gator.
Converting a winning position, especially under pressure of a world watching over your shoulder, is a skill that often shows the difference between a talent and a maturing master. Thomas clearly is a bit further on the road to maturity, but needs to re-think his opening choices if he wants to move into GM elite territory. This game should not have lasted more than 25 moves with 0-1 as a result, but was big fun to watch from beginning to end.
@@goodworld8654 Why did you pose this question here? It has absolutely nothing to do with the comment. And yes, I too have been wondering about Medo's absence. What's going on there?
Hello Antonio, big fan here, thanks for those games! I would say at 14:46 White is better, though. Black is up 2 pawns, but one is doubled and black has 3 pawn islands, where white has 2 and has the 2 rooks. (and also 5 minor pieces, guess you miscounted)
Great game, I could see some winning moves for her if she sacrificed her rook for the pawn in front of his King, rather than taking the knight. Would of been a very interesting line. Because his King would take the rook. She would then check with her other Rook on the back rank. I can’t see if she then moved the Queen how he could stop checkmate the next move.

After Bishop takes Queen on h6, black doesn't have "two pieces for a Rook." It's White that's up the exchange. Rook v. Bishop and two pawns, where there are three pawn islands.
