Being slightly better than prisons in Mexico or Russia isn't a high bar to clear. The US prison system is still rife with human rights violations, mental and physical abuse, inmates dying of disease due to gross sanitation conditions, etc. So comparing our system to other countries (weather its Norway or Mexico) only highlights how much ours sucks. Because that would just show that we're lagging way behind the rest of the developed world, while barely being ahead of non-developed nations.

Sex offenders should get mental evaluations/treatment while in prison. It’s not just enough to punish for the crime.
I worked with sex offenders and I can tell you first hand, they get intense therapeutic programs. In fact, in PA, they cannot get paroled unless they complete those programs. The problem is much deeper than desires. It seems to be a sickness at the core of the individual.
Some get away with it and get 📻 jobs

Our justice system is garbage at “rehabilitation”. It’s a trap.
No such thing as rehabilitation in jail or prison. My aunt was out there and she had to almost die to get rehab- in a hospital. After she got out, they still required her to go to jail, smh. Most of these people are addicts and they need actual help, not just being locked up.
It's free labor... Not rehabilitation.
@@maryfields877 it’s no such thing in this country because it’s designed not to do so. In the year 2000 we have the most prison degree programs and skill development programs.
Well that’s not good for long term growth for prisons so them a wipes lobbied our corrupt government to have many of these programs removed, or our leaders privatized facilities and dismantle these programs all with tax payer money.
Too many prisoner weren’t reoffending so the moment prison forecasting dipped below the 6% growth annually they scrapped so many programs it’s not even funny.

That's cap about the registration thing. I live in Chicago and within half a mile by my crib there's at least 12 registered sex offenders and there are lots of schools and daycare centers near me. They should give them a village.

The problem is the judicial system sends these people to jail and don’t offer any sort of rehabilitation besides the bare minimum. They just punish the people and don’t allow them to heal or mature from their mistakes. That’s why people who come out of jail end up committing the same or similar crimes. You’re just releasing the same person but just more mentally damaged.
Even if they offered rehabilitation in prison it still wouldn't change the fact that prison is a facility that houses violent and nonviolent offenders under the same roof. Meaning the cycle of violence would never end in prison. You think rehabilitation is going to change the mindset of violent gang members, Neo Nazis, those with ties with a drug cartel or even serial killers? This is why only a very small number of prisoners come out rehabilitated.

I saw this. This man was also sent back for not following his parole stipulations. That was on him. Also, in many states, the STATE is responsible for calculating release time. SC has a lot of inmates incarcerated past their release time due to lack of staff. 🙄 It’s crazy.

This man has been in prison longer than he's been alive and that's all he knows he has no problem with going back and I'm sure has an issue with fully comprehending right from wrong as a result. which again is a big issue for long sentences in prisons and them not actually trying to "reform" or rehabilitate people.
