      @josephblow5946 2 года назад

      @@rykehuss3435 What's missing, is the 200 notes per second picado runs that Paco is famous for. It has nothing to do with feel, duende, the spirit of Flamenco, or any of that subjective nonsense. Without warp speed picados, a Paco De Lucia imitation is not complete, even if everything else is immaculate. It's the same scenario when guys cover Al Di Meola without sufficient alternate picking technique. There's a reason John McLaughlin and Al Di Meola chose Paco to collaborate with, over the other elite Flamenco guitarists.

      Grisha is better than Paco in my opinion technically and the sound is more clear, beautiful and he plays more musically. I don't care about this 'classical' or 'real' flamenco style if it means to play dirty, with a lot of noise from fingers sliding or nails accidentally hitting a string when player didn't intend it. Grisha is better than Paco in all these aspects. Not surprising too, Grisha lives in our age with more access to different recordings and other information

      That doesnt mean you cant get to his level. Django the famous jazz composer had his hands fused in an accident and could only use 2 of his left fingers, he managed to still play at an incredible level. I think what's more important is how much you love what you are doing :)

      No estoy de acuerdo. Y mira que le he dado al like y me he quedado asombrado, la verdad. Es un fenómeno, pero para mí sí hay alguien que toca mejor por Paco. El chaval se llama Tarrito y lo que hace simplemente es una barbaridad. Os recomiendo a todos si no lo conocéis que lo busquéis porque vais a flipar. Dicho esto, Grisha me parece uno de los mejores intérpretes, quizá el mejor de los extranjeros, de flamenco. Un saludo a todos.

    AGAIN. It is the legend! Grisha!!!! :-) I am so into great flamenco guitar. Paco (RIP) was and is SO magnificent and HUGELY influential over contemporary flamenco guiatism. THIS man, Grisha, has "the thing" going on. BRAVO!!!!!

    • @thomassicard3733
      @thomassicard3733 2 года назад

      Speaking of "the thing"...
      One of my most beloved and amazing teachers was Jay Andrus (who studied with the legendary James Chambers) - 4th Horn of the Houston Symphony for MANY years (then retired and played Principal Horn with the Houston Ballet - yeah, he was/is complete) and always talked about and stressed the importance of "the thing" in the sound. He (and, naturally, I) are classic Conn 8D guys (you know what I mean, if you are a French hornist). The "thing" is not just something in the sound, however... NO. It is also THE THING that makes your musicianship compelling, effective, exciting, sublime, beautiful, beautifully ugly, beautifully whatever... UNFORGETABLY RIGHT.
      Yeah. Grisha has "the thing".

    • @MrPainfulTruth
      @MrPainfulTruth 4 года назад +2

      Uhhh. Quite the stereotype. I know no other russian on that level...culturally, this music comes most natural to spaniards, because they grow up with it. To enter that scene is hard for an outside, but Grisha has managed to establish himself firmly in the flamenco world.

      Don't worry, just imagine you are playing clarinett instead oft guitar, so the comparison between you and him does not effect your self-concoiusness when constating that he is playing better ... (See: you don't have to play as good him, just explain the difference in your special way of view - and things are good).

    SIMPLY MARVELOUS!!!
    It's unreal that there are so many guitar virtuosos out there with different levels of greatness, different backgrounds in education, of different cultures, and gender, but yet the Common Thread that runs through all of these great people, are the richness of genius that is presented to us...to the highest degree and we thank you!
