Kieth Richards uncle (and tutor) told him, "if you can play Malaguena, you can play anything". So well done :)
I listen to your version which is the closest I’ve found to how my father played it. Great memories! Thank you for this.
You’re very welcome so glad it brought back. Good memories thank you.
*LEGEND HAS IT THAT STRING IS STILL VIBRATING IN 2021*
even in 2023
@@bagsofsprite I just checked it and they are still vibrating.
Now it's 2023 and this strings is still vibrating with waves!
It is still vibrating in 2024!
Hehehehehehe.

I come here every year or so. This is the best rendition of the Malaguena I've ever heard.
Wow that’s so kind of you thank you so much!
@@michaellucarelli You're very welcome. You should think about doing a 2021 rendition too! Btw Happy New Year Michael!
It is incredible. I prefer Roy Clark's version which is pretty mad to say
Check out Lucas Imbiriba's interpretation just posted yesterday here on YT.

Beautiful.
He looks like he steals art for a living though.
That’s a good one! Thanks
I find it very moving, you cant steal aRt, it steals you!
Hahahah, I agree
@@michaellucarelli Hello Michael, Since I'm a boy, I dislike flamenco, because my mother who was born in Andalucia obliged me hear a lot of it. Though players like you made me like spannish classical guitar, thank you for sharing that on youtube, I like the way you play Malaguena, if I may say so, you rock it !
It’s not art that he steals. He is the Frito Bandito, hence the theme song he is playing.
Not only your playing was awsome but hats off to your cinematographer who made the visuals JUMP!
Thank you so much I appreciate that!
Never seen guitar strings wavy like that. In combination with the flamenco, it's downright hypnotic. Really nice Footage!
Look for a video with the camera in the guitar hole, you can see how wavy they really are
It's because of the shutter speed and frames per second of the recording camera
It's because of the camera, I am not exactly sure if shutter speed has anything to do with or not but images in camera are scanned from top to bottom and left to right, one pixel at a time. That's why the string is at different positions when the image is scanned for every frame and it looks like a wave. You might not see the same effect on your camera because I think these videos have specific camera settings for these waves to happen.
The camera does work the same as the human eye. I believe what you are seeing in the strings is due to stroboscopic effects. These stroboscopic effects are showing standing waves on the strings. The effect is certainly interesting and dramatic. However, it might have been unintentional. The phenomenon is an artifact.
@@larrypicard5969 no man I am sure, I know what standing waves are. That's not it. When you do a harmonics on guitar that's when you get a standing wave, this is because of scanning the image from top to bottom. Also a camera and our eye does not work the same way 😅😅.
Great video mister..
I didn't know you could play spaghetti so magnificently
:). Well I am Italian
Michael Lucarelli well said

This entire piece is a work of art. This rendition of Malaguena is the best I have ever heard. Every note is beautifully articulated.
Wow, thank you I am honored that you like it!!

Nella vita c'è da ringraziare poche persone ma tra questi c'è sicuramente chi ci ha donato questa meraviglia musicale.

That makes me feel good ! thank you so much man
thanks for the music!

This Malagueña is Cuban, not Spanish. It was composed by Ernesto Lecuona.
@@polaristrans La guitarra es española, la malagueña es por una ciudad de España y la cultura musical os la llevamos nosotros. De cubano esto no tiene nada, no llores
I've been playing guitar loosely for a couple years, just got serious with it again recently. It brings chills to my spine how some people are this amazing at it.
Passion
You become this skilled when you give yourself fully - 24/7 and all year long -- to the instrument….. I don’t see it happening any other way
I just want to tell you how much I appreciate your ability to play this better than anyone else. It never gets old I've been listening to it now for at least 2 or 3 years I'm not sure, but I just want to say bravo to you, thank you very much. It stirs my blood more than any other song
Wow! thank you so much, it’s like comments like yours keeps me going! much appreciated!!
love that you can see the resonance of the strings
Cool! Thank s
This totally could have been another acceptable ending of Breaking Bad.
Imagine Walter going back to the desert again, playing this piece.
Fuck yeah😂
Jajajajaja, totalmente 👌
Good idea 👌
Hahahahhh nice
Exactly what I thought before reading your comment
Spanish tunes are such hauntingly beautiful melodies. that which adds spice to the flavour
This is one of the songs that moves and inspires me. Moving to Argentina at 10 years old (expat of 1965)... I was exposed to this insanely beautiful song! It changed my life. At one point I could play it; my parents had gifted me guitar lessons from the then most progressive concert guitar teacher in Buenos Aires of the time. I only wish I had known the value of my lessons, then.
I am in awe as I have heard this song being played many a day but not like this. Just lovely.
Sweet! Thank you
Wonderful how the camera frame rate capture the sound waves in the strings producing sound. A perfet visual demonstration of ondulatory theory in physics! No matter is transported, just waves...
Cool I love that! thanks for commenting!
@Paul Gratton It's proved by time but it's true that the double appearance of waves/particle is true only for electromagnetic fields, so that the light i.e., or all the spectrum from gamma rays to radio waves. Photon is the particle that appears under certain circumstances, so that ALL the matter can show a double reality, depending on how its properties are measured. Waves/particle.
For which concern other waves, such as the sound one (from music to earthquakes) that's just waves, energy transport under form of apparent periodic movement.

@@michaellucarelli Is there a way i can have the music sheet to this song...it looks hard but the way you plays it...😭😭its so satisfying and beautiful
bro can’t believe it his was from 9 years ago! still a masterpiece 💯👌🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
This song never gets old for me, have a good day folks..
Listen to this 4 years ago, still makes me sophisticated.
I've always loved the Malaguena, but the combination of this video with Lucarelli's playing makes it more enjoyable than ever... exhilarating.
Crazy to think that I’ve been returning to this video for 10 years now. Lovely as always!
Same here.
A love story set to music. Michael sets the mood.
He played so well he started moving in x-axis lmao 2:27
Normies: horizontally
INTELEKTUALS: X AXIS
Exactly
Made me laugh more than it should've
Nah, he transcended into the w-axis
@LuckyGB d pololo loop
For those who are confused by the strings, it has to do with the camera, its on a very high frame rate, so it gives the effect of crazy movement from the strings.
Michael - this is one of the most beautiful renditions of this piece I have ever heard. And I loved the setting.
Great! I’m glad you liked it!
🙏
I don't consider myself a music expert at all, but I do know soul and talent. I am BEYOND picky about these kinds of things. This is actually phenomenal. I've watched it so many times over so many years. It's my all-time favorite guitar solo, EASILY, by a landslide. My 2nd favorite piece of music of all time. "Be Still"- by The Killers is #1. 3rd is Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen. Thank you a million times for sharing your gift with all of us. 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏
Thank you so much. This is the fuel that keeps me going !
As long as people like it. I’ll keep posting!

Dear @Michael Lucarelli -- I showed your video to my almost four year old. He watched, wide-eyed, and uttered, "I need to go to music class."
That brought me so much happiness. Thank you.
Jeffrey Baitis that is so cool they brought me happiness. You definitely should get him lessons
I absolutely will!
make sure they show how simple things stack into complicated ones.
then, you will have given him more than music, you will have given the keys to acting upon the world, at least on the local sphere.
if precision is seen as the gateway to being happy, instead of a chore, then you have helped him so much.
then, teach him flow, the Tao of the moments perfection, flowering in that moment.
and don't worry if you haven't got either of those things Right, yourself. keep plugging away.
The Good Lord knows I haven't. got some plugging to do, myself.
be Blessed, be Kind, be Happy. NAMASTE.
Jeffrey Baitis 2 years later, how does he play now?

absolutely amazing... you can tell when guitar is just an extension to Michael's arm!!! I have never seen anyone play classical music on guitar at this finesse.
One this good at playing is gifted, I have heard several renditions and this is my absolute favorite. I believe it is his also. Magnifico
Absolutely phenomenal. I appreciate your style and the effort to make these videos to drive the passion back into music and from an era and culture few have been exposed to. Your playing drives me to continue my efforts and journey with my own guitar playing.
He makes such good use of the timing and emotion. Very well done! I am a fan!
I love the message and setting behind the vid. Just a man and his best friend - his guitar.
How effortlessly he makes this look is a artform.
i love what he has done with this song. i can play the original version, but it is very basic and simple. but the improv in this version really breaths new life into the song.
His rasgueado strumming is just average though. It sounds better if played back toward the bridge instead of over the fretboard.
kept coming back for this masterpiece
a work of art
Love the Spanish guitar 🎸 😍 ❤ He is a fabulous player!!!
Love this, I have listened to this so many times!
Artistcally beautiful...great scenario...good sound and a perfect HD production video.

I have started playing classical guitar about 9 months ago and the first day my teacher played this and it really made me love classical guitar! Believing that i could play like this one day inspires me to put 100% of my effort on learning the pieces and songs they give me , even though i have really, really long way to come i believe i can play like this one day! Besides that i loved the way you played this piece, it was full of emotion! ❤️
Great I’m glad you like it!
And that you discovered The classical guitar. I discovered it around 1980 after playing electric guitar for seven years and I’ve been enjoying it every single day since!!
@@michaellucarelli Im 19 years old, played acoustic and electric for almost 5 years now but still didnt found that emotion....bought and started playing classical few days back and am really feeling the emotion now!
Excellent performance. Beautiful guitar work and video, just beautiful!
that was beautiful, I have never seen strings move like that.
Holy moly, I found it.
These crazy shapes that the guitar string seemingly takes on is caused by the rolling shutter effect of the iPhone’s camera (when digital camera’s take a picture they actually scan over a frame either vertically or horizontally. Basically, not all parts of an image are recorded at exactly same time and some parts are left playing catch up.)

Amazing job! I love the Acoustics in the desert.
But it’s so cold, this man is a legend, extremely gifted
I love how they filmed it as if there's just this random guitar sitting out in the desert, and this guy shows up as if he were summoned by it.
This is how my father played this as a child! I am now inspired to learn this myself!!!

Seeing the wave patterns on the strings is so cool

As a side note to my last comment, I use this video to show the relationship between transverse waves and longitudinal waves regarding the production of sound. Brilliant cinematography and musical performance.
I love the visual effect that direct sunlight has on guitar strings. The song was amazing as well.
It's like a whole orchestra with one guitar. Beautiful
