This car has come sooooooo far since the first time it’s been on the channel. This is wild. I’m excited to see it come back to life!! Thank you for sharing with us!
I had a Berkeley T60 (please pronounce it Barkeley); basically the same but a 3 wheeler. It had the original Excelsior Talisman twin.motor with the Albion crash gearbox. The best engine conversion ive seen was a quad bike engine and trans (crom memory it was a twin cylinder with CVT and reverse.
Wow! You actually have a Berkeley?! Back when I was still running my shop, I was actively searching for a 3 cyl. model in decent shape, but every one I found that was even semi-drivable, they wanted $10,000 or more.😛 I think the triples were DKW/Auto Union 2 strokes, but I don't remember if they were a factory option or someone cloned them into these cars. I love the body style on these, as they were like a mini version of the original Cobras.😍👍👍👍 *EDIT:* I just found out that the triples were actually a 500 cc. Excelsior produced in England. There is a channel called 'South OC Cars and Coffee' that features a pristine 1959 Berkeley with the 500 triple.😉
@@2stroketurbo Right.. from the looks of it, they didn't even have any ducting from the grille to direct the airflow through the fins.😜 I'll bet they had some serious hot spots (and seized pistons, etc.), especially on warm days...
The body certainly has come a LONG way - good work! However, I agree that the structural integrity is the bigger issue. Might be a good idea to figure out your engine install, & underhood bracing BEFORE more serious body work. Does look pretty cool tho!!
When I got mine its body bent when we put it on a post lift so we took the alloy side from inside of the cat and made some steel ones and whilst they where off put some steel angle irons from over the rear hub centers forward to the inner wheel arches, one each side , bolted to the bottom tub then riveted the new inner steels panels back, that made the Berkeley super stiff. I found that my steering track rod ends where past the end of their life but found that Renault 4 CV ones fit and new ones where available from France
I'm concerned about structural integrity. I saw that there is no central tunnel, so I believe it is front-wheel drive.
It has a fiberglass pan , thats its frame structure.
Love these Berkeley’s. Truly crazy race microcars. Love that you of all people have the pleasure of working on one and saving it!

Yep, Right on! All the 2 stroke Berk offerings were a bad design due to lack of cooling..none had forced air fans.

Tube frame desperately needed in the engine bay! 😊
I am not going to guess what little Berkley is going to get powered with . I can not wait to see what you have planed .

That Berkeley is putting a strain on your lift!!!

I'll say i'm intrigued. Wondering what else you have of this machine?
A Jawa 350 twostroke engine would be nice.
Going to be great ! Very different little car
An old 2cv engine perhaps? I might be a little biased, I really love the sound of the 2cv 2 cilinder engine 😉
More Berkley episodes please
80 horsepower !!!????? These came with 18 horsepower originally. Stay away from the Hayabusa suggestion.
Berkeley! Woohoo!
You’re a braver man than I am.
😁
Good luck 👍.
Harbor freight predator 670 on a VW, Subaru, Renault, or Citroen trans?
will i live long enough to see it finished?
Well I certainly hope so, where do you plan on going? 😄
twin mated single cyl. Isetta engines!!!!
Oooooh yea !
How about putting in either a Subaru 360, 2 stroke turbo up front, or a Honda 600?
best of luck.
I think it needs a two-stroke Kawasaki 750 triple engine.
Ef10 or Ef12 by subaru would fit good
2CV engine & trans maybe?
I just suggested this on the last vid.
With all the other cars you have, why would you start on this total shit box that needs everything. You know you'll never finish it in this decade
😁
