There is nothing like a older historical home, just the feeling of them, you can not put into words, it effects you all the way to your soul. The ambiance is just lovely, so aesthetically pleasing .God bless

MaryEllen Bailey, I have never heard that old house sentiment said so well. Absolutely, one either feels the gravity of that home's very soul & feels it reflected right back inside one's OWN soul, or they simply don't get it & never will.

I think, there is a big modern drawing above the sofa, on which Susanna is sitting. Union jack cushion beside her, pea-green wall . The faun with his horns could be drawn by Cocteau or Picasso... No? Nevertheless it is not disturbing the atmosphere at all... :--))

Love the idea of naming the rooms (names on the doors). It is warm and cozy a place where you can live in as you learn from the past and its history. Well done ! Love this house. My home is late 1700's and on the National Historic Register. I bought it and thankfully it was not modernized. These historic houses cannot be duplicated. They are one of a kind. And although I would love a fab modern kitchen, I keep the 1940's cabinets that were built onsite. I just don't have the heart to remove them.

I love that Jeffrey Bilhuber incorporated American Presidents into his designs for his 17th century upstate N.Y. home..I get what his meanings for it are, and so true..Our founding fathers did appreciate the european designs when they traveled all over the world..Jefferson was proof he did influence a lot of european designs into his home and Washington DC...Because of that, we can see the european architecture designs in many of the old building and homes in the U.S. around our country..I just love that! I love to bring some of that design into my own home, makes it kinda of unique to me..Even tho I don't always like what every interior designer style..I do appreciate and enjoy seeing what I do love, and can add some of their ideas into my own home...I just love Quintessence home and style RUclips channel, it just makes my day!................P.S. Love the sound of those old creaking wood floors!

I love this home! And when Jeffery was speaking about early ancestors travels and bringing home treasures, he said," They "folded" them into their own houses," I was sold on his style. What a lovely way to put his own design style into words. He "folds" everything into his own house. The gold mirror, crystal and gold candelabra with the crystal lamps on the mantel atop the skirting is so beautiful and interesting! I can see where your talents as an interviewer, comes to play in this house, as there is so much to see Susanna. You really needed to direct the attention to the most important focal points. And his son? The PERFECT addition to fold into his home. He is adorbs! I am always so excited to see you in my notification bell and after watching you and Stacey always giving us insights into magical places I feel so delighted. Thank you both for sharing with us! I appreciate that Jeffrey has maintained the history of his home and his family's artifacts and created a uniquely American home. Brand new subscriber and I am catching up on past videos. Great home. I wish these were longer, say 20 minutes or so. Love seeing these beautiful homes and the owners obvious pride and joy in showing them off. I only live in a Manhattan studio but I think it's the most beautiful studio in the city!

The house is a living museum. Must be one of the oldest buildings in the USA? Wonderful!

One small section of it was built in the 1660s but the main block and another section only date to the 1790s.

bentleyr00d only 1790s......! That’s pretty old for a lot of Europe, let alone the USA! Thank you for clarifying!

Thank you so much to this family for letting us into your unbelievably amazing (so overused, the word, but this is it) home. This is inspiring. You are creating American history as stewards of this place and you encourage my passion for getting excited about my own historical home (rented, not owned, and a studio apartment with excellent bones).

Once again, brilliant. Thank you. Susanna, you are a treasure - love the scene where you're driving in the video game and you exclaim, "is this relaxing?!" Hilarious. These videos are entertaining, educational and so very inspiring. I watch them over and over.

Too too too many good things to squeeze into 7 minutes. I feel like I could spend an entire summer here and STILL not fully appreciate all the details. The intricacies of Jeffrey's brilliant work are so inspiring because they seem attainable. You feel invited to try this at home. I, too, am a newly converted skirted table kind of gal. I, too, can push pin notes onto my walls. I, too, can create illusions with architecture on a roll. I could plant a few ferns in clay pots. I could use $1 bandanas as dinner napkins. I can install a trellis over shingles. I mean who even thinks of these things????? Obviously Jeffrey. He is equal parts careful and careless. Careful to think of all the meticulous details and careless of what anyone thinks of it. I am so happy to have watched this video. Thank you Suzanna and Stacey. Bring on the border!!!!!
