I've experienced the "care" at a hospital in SW Ontario. Because it is almost impossible to fire a hospital worker, I've seen many that have a very lackadaisical attitude.
I had an experience with a Toronto hospital when my son went to emergency because he felt unwell. I called at least five times that evening and was told "He is fine stop calling". The next day a doctor called to tell me he had passed. I wish everyday I could have seen him one last time, if I'd known he wasn't okay I would have been there.
Perhaps it took 3 days to find your ex???? If they had no information on next of kin an the patient is deceased who should they call? 1-800-findyourfamily? Your criticism is ridiculous.
My niece was in the hospital in Sudbury earlier this year. She heard an announcement that they were looking for a patient. Two days later they were still looking and hadn't called in the police. My niece was released so we don't know if the patient was ever found.
Their 1st priority in an Emergency Department is saving lives, not chatting on the phone. The family was contacted, why are you saying they weren't? Did they have enough time to contact next of kin before he passed? Did he want them to contact next of kin? You sound like you were there and "know it all"
Hospital errors are the rule, not the exception. While this was an admin error, medication errors are commonplace as well. Up to 30,000 patient annually die of preventable medical errors; it's the third leading cause of death in Canada. Accountability? None.
The Canadian health care system has collapsed almost completely and the gouvernement is slowly pushing those who can afford it to private. CANADA SHAME ON YOU.
Maybe have a provincial government that is more interested in properly funding and supporting our public system instead of intentionally crippling it in favour of a private alternative
Blame the provincial governments for that, not the federal government. The federal government provides funding to make sure all provinces can have a basic standard of care. The provinces and the health regions in those provinces determine the rest. In Ontario, it's Doug Ford's government cutting health care funding and pushing privatization. If you're in Ontario, Alberta or Saskatchewan and you voted for the Conservatives, UCP or SaskParty, you voted for health care cuts and privatization. If you vote for the Conservatives in the next federal election, you are definitely voting for privatization, as well as cuts to Canada's military and veterans services. It's what they did last time.
Disgraceful!!!!!!!!!!!!! If I get sick or have a low blood sugar and or a heart attack, I'm staying home to die, I wouldn't want my family going through this!!!!😡😡😡
No hospitals do not do a further exam.. Risk management kicks in and all steps are then taken to protect and insulate the hospital.. Get an independent autopsy..
More money won’t solve this, it needs to be more efficient and more equitable…. Many would hate this change because they have been getting preferential treatment.
OMG...I am an octogenarian and I had a bad fall and split my forehead open. Went to the hospital at around seven pm. but was not really looked at until well pastmidnight...yuck
If a patient is listed as Confidential' (at the patients request), legally staff are NOT allowed to divulge if the patient is there or not. IF this wasn't the case, then staff goofed up and can't seem to tell the difference between an alive versus deceased patient, even from the computer records. Everything is coded.
@@ungenannt8774 Legally physicians have 24 hours to sign a Death Certificate. The system shows everything - depending who has access to what, it can be looked up. Hospitals track everything.

Terrible, Terrible news from HSN. There are more stories than this. This is the worst tragedy ever. I didn't know the morgue closed at certain hours. It's a morgue! Nice apology.
It's more than just the healthcare system that is broken. We've completely lost our humanity.

My goodness how inept has our healthcare system become? I feel so bad for this family.

The worker who told this woman to "stop calling" should be fired. Bad bedside manor and obviously didn't care to look into the case at all.
There is no evidence to corroborate this. It's just this ladys word against the staff, and families have been known to embelish the truth.

The statement released is so inappropriate given the situation. Horrible experience for the family.

They probably MAIDed them in the back for a stipend from Unterfuhrer Freeland
"We investigated ourselves and found no wrongdoing" 🤨
They didn't say that. They said more training is needed.
The statement released is so scripted. This family deserves words from the heart in a situation like this.
Sadly, there are manybin our society who have little or no genuine empathy or compassion for others. Our current GOVERNMENT is a classic example.😊
Somebody needs to be fired
Who?
I live in Sudbury too and something is wrong with our hospital.
Been since Giroux started there after taking down Laurentian.
Unacceptable .
Why family were not contacted is beyond me. I hope they sue the hospital. They only released the information after his death. Someone messed up.
