And a what a woman to spend the time she did on that letter, and apparently on other messages for her sons, when she was so ill and it took so much effort to do so. You can see why they were attracted to one another in the first place---they were very clearly very similar people.
I have end stage copd, and my husband has been taking care of me since 2016. If anyone had asked me 42 yrs ago when we married if he would do that, I would have said no. He is my greatest blessing in my life. I am on hospice now, and he still takes care of me. I love him so much.
I can't stop crying. What a wonderful example of love. Every time he sits outside to read a book, she will be there. This is at the top of the favorite list. I don't know how Nate didn't lose it completely. He did faulter a bit. This is just so beautiful.

I'm a 58 year old man and i have cried very few times in my lifetime, but when he said i'm a policeman and i'm not supposed to be crying i couldn't hold the tears back. You sir have spent your life fighting to protect others and fighting to take care of your wife when she needed you most. This gentleman is the example of honor, integrity, and pure love that we should all aspire to be like in our lives. Willing to do whatever it takes for others and always putting others needs first. I can't imagine the pain that he endured each day watching the love of his life slip further and further away all while tending to her as best as he could. I can just imagine after hearing this letter from his wife and being given this gift the hours he will spend sitting in his quiet place that she wished for him just reading his books and thinking of her. Yet another reminder that we all need to take the time to spend time with those friends and family members that we care about because none of us are guaranteed tomorrow. I know it will never happen, but it would be one of the greatest moments in my life if i had the chance to shake this man's hand and tell him how much respect i and many others that have seen this video have for him. I pray that God will look out for him and his family and help to ease his pain over the loss of his beautiful wife.
My tears flow again. This mirrors 14 months of my life as I took care of my former wife when she was diagnosed with ALS. We had divorced in 2006 but soon started our relationship anew. Years passed as we lived our love for each other. She confided in me the there was something terribly wrong with her. Together we waited for that final diagnosis. I convinced her to move into my home and let me take care of her. I proposed to her that June and she accepted. We were married in my home on July 17, 2022. Katharine passed away in my arms on July 18, 2022. We had 50 years of love together. When this horror began I vowed to turn this into a beautiful love story that hopefully inspires other to understand that the Beatles were right. All YOU NEED IS LOVE.

DON'T BE ASHAMED OF CRYING. IT SHOWS THAT YOU'RE A GREAT MAN WITH A KIND HEART REAL MEN CRY. IT SHOWS THAT YOU REALLY CARED. YOU'RE A WONDERFUL MAN. GOD BLESS YOU AND MERRY CHRISTMAS
@@gingercat7925Older people tend to write like that because they have poor eyesight, it's the only way they can read what they're typing, ya can think before you decide to be a dick
What an amazing story! I also lossed husband 2yrs ago (22+years of marriage). Now, your wife is in no pain. If a believer, she will be waiting for you in Heaven. You are still alive to glorify God and take care of your family.
I remember when I was with my wife at her chemotherapy treatments, the other women getting the same therapy would say how lucky my wife was to have such a supportive husband since all of their husbands had abandoned them when they were diagnosed or shortly thereafter. My wife later shared their sad stories with me. When she told me I was angry, how could a husband abandon his life long love at her weakest and most vulnerable moment? How could he turn a blind eye and selfishly walk away? It was incomprehendable. Hot tears welled up in my eyes as I thought of their abandonments. I could and would never leave my wife's side come financial ruin or death. Her cancer made me love her even more. I salute this gentleman for his dedication and strength for being the rock his wife needed. Your are just as amazing as your wife is. May God bless you and keep you and your sons safe. I am truly sorry for your loss.
You're a good man. My husband was also with me at every treatment these last few months, and it brought tears to my eyes to see the women and elderly there by themselves. 😢 Noone needs to go through chemo alone. I loved having my husband there with me. So grateful for his love, care, and devotion. ❤
God bless you for honoring your vows and love for your wife. It is truly sad to know the others were abandoned. I lost my fiancé last Christmas. He was in the ICU then in hospital hospice for two weeks prior. He never woke up after he was admitted but I lived there with him for two weeks because I refused to leave his side. He was my everything. His own mother and sister couldn't bring themselves to see him like that which I understand, but I just could not NOT be with him. The hospital staff was so kind they made sure I could shower and had meals. I only left for an hour Christmas Eve to go get a Christmas tree to put by his bed. We were inseparable in life so in sickness and ultimately in death it made no difference. When you truly love someone there is no limit on what you will do to be there for that person. My fiancé wasn't awake but I wanted to be there and I know it made a difference in his comfort and peace in passing. He would of done the same for me in a heartbeat. This video was so precious. Prayers and love to everyone missing their loved one ❤❤
Stats show that over 50% of men leave their wives if they become disabled or have a serious diagnosis. Women need to keep it in mind and make sure they are financially able to survive if abandoned.
I have no words other than to say I am terrified of losing my wife of 42 yrs. I fear the pain he feels every day. Thank you Secret Santa and elves for sharing this.
OMG, this has been the Secret Santa surprise that has touched my heart beyond words. Thank you Secret Santa for making this wish come true for one of God's Angels to her one of a kind husband ❤❤❤❤❤
He’s not too far away…really…you know it..we all know it when we lose a special person … I am glad you had that special person in your life…take it 1/2 second at a time…ain’t great but does help. Truly. Remember too you are loved… Gail in Central FL 12/14/24
RIP Dustin’s wife! She loved her husband so much is that she asked a secret Santa to build him a bigger padio so that he could read his book. What a kind soul we lost.
This man serves his city making sure others are safe and the care he showed his wife till her dying daysis very special. They dont make many men like him. Thank you for your service to your town and especially your family. Im hoping this lanscaper can help him with his other needs as well and not just the patio and pergula for him to read his books. God please look over this man and his children and support him in his times of grief...
This is so beautiful! Knowing how little time she had left, she used hours , asking for something she’d never see for her husband, who has spent his life in service to others. 😢 Thank you Secret Santa 🎅🏼, Nate and crew, for this special gift.🎁
What a magnificent tribute to Dustin. I can't imagine how difficult it was for his dear wife to write that with just her eyes. I'm not ashamed to say that I was in tears throughout. Bless Secret Santa for making Dustin's wife's wish come true. Bless Dustin and I hope sitting in his garden will bring him peace. Thank you to Nate and his team as always.
What a beautiful gift from your wife. A quiet place to read your book and to reflect on those 30 years you spent with her. By far my favorite Secret Santa!
I was a paramedic and a respiratory therapist and I’ve had a few patients with ALS. It’s awful. One of the worst conditions you can have. It robs you of your movement, eating, breathing, and even talking. I got close with a patient until she finally got to go home where she died suddenly. Many patients with ALS die from pneumonia especially since they can’t cough in advanced stages and are on a ventilator. Without being able to cough you get mucus plugs that can block the airways leading to suffocation and terrible pneumonias. I’m glad she got her wish and she can now RIP!
That was the most loving and thoughtful and selfless letter I have ever heard. God bless her, her sons, her dear husband, and all those who had the honor of knowing her and loving her. Thank you, Secret Santa, for your enduring generosity and giving to all those in such need and hurting too with such terrible losses. Thank you, Nate, and your team for making these wishes come true for years. No other words but tears here. Blessings to all.
I hope that man gets a beautiful back yard he can sit and get some small piece of comfort in knowing his wife will be there by his side in spirit for every second of it. That must have been some love story they shared... This is beautiful
Okay Secret Santa this one did me in. I'm a caregiver to my chronically ill husband so I know the sacrifice this man has made. I'm always blown away by the kind gestures that happen every year. I hope this secret Santa gets all the karmic blessings back because they deserve it.
Instead of having a 'be-LIE-f' (faith in/religion of) Karma you should put your hope in God who's name is written upon your DNA 🧬 Our Creator loves you and to prove it He wrote His name on You. Seek Truth where religion is Not required 🙌
It was 420 Am I couldn’t sleep so I went on my phone looking RUclips and saw this my tears can’t stop flowing. That was one of the most touching things I’ve ever saw in a long time. It touched my heart Justin. I wish you all the best. God bless you.
This was the saddest Christmas present yet. But Dustin said it best, he is grateful for the 30 years they had together. I hope the landscapers will make a lovely backyard for Dustin as a memory from Kjerstin. Thank you Secret Santa!
I’m only going to say something because East Idaho News is the only for-profit media biz who actually will turn this into a charitable donation, but please don’t ever do this elsewhere. This legally could go right to the business for anything the financial decision maker chooses, it isn’t a donation to the Secret Santa program, which doesn’t take donations anyway. The series is undoubtedly highly profitable for EIN, and secret Santa is a billionaire. But in this case, I’m sure EIN will disperse the money as it was intended, and so I’ll be the party pooper who says it. I’m sorry to rain on the parade but I just had to intercede. Again, this isn’t a charitable donation, it’s a “tip” to the news station, which is a successful business.
I can't stop crying 😢 her husband is so kind and humble. What an incredible gesture of her love and dedication to thinking of others as she's lying on her death bed. Amazing wife and mother. This brought me tears of Joy. God bless everyone involved 😇🙏🫂
I suspect he was crying because he unexpectedly heard from his wife after she was gone. He will probably re-read that letter more times than he will sit in the shady spot, reading a book.
I didn't get past the first two minutes before dissolving in tears. I am learning through these Secret Santa stories never to complain. I honestly have no problems worth mentioning when I hear stories like these. My husband of 55 years passed away unexpectedly earlier this year, leaving me alone in a foreign country to finish our work here, but we had more than half a century together and this kind of love. Dustin is certainly a deserving man. In a world where there isn't much light, this story sparkles.
We had a friend who was stricken with ALS. She was so very beautiful at her core. This disease is horrible and cruel, and I wish her family and friends nothing but love. Bless all of them.
The love that these two amazing people shared has moved me to tears. They only worried about each other and the people around them and didn’t dwell on themselves. The warmth of their love has moved the world. If only everyone could do their best to make the world a place filled with this kind of love. Best wishes from MI.
Well this one really got me. My husband passed in 1995 from ALS. Almost 30 years already. He was 48. Any disease is an emotional rollercoaster and affects everyone deeply. His wife was such a strong and caring and amazing person. It takes a while to get through the grief but eventually the sadness leaves and is replaced with all the good memories. I wish him much healing. ❤
@@kevinjones5560 All I can say is this, If you actually new Him, that statement would never leave your lips! I pray that someday you will get to know the Lord!
This present is not only from Santa it is from his wife also .Thenk you Secret Santa thank you Dear Lady for your love and appreciation to your husband.
I had to stop and compose myself before writing this. I couldn't see because of all of the tears falling down my face. This was so emotional. I am dealing with many health issues and my husband is my rock. He takes care of me and our son and I am grateful he is in my life. I haven't worked in a year and he has been supporting us on 1 income. We struggle, but we still have a place to live and food in our bellies so we are thankful he works as hard as he does. I wish I could do something like this for him. God Bless the secret Santa that does this every year.
That was the best Secret Santa gift ever! I can hardly see my screen to type because of all of the tears running down my face.... ❤ Thank you Secret Santa for touching so many lives... You are the ultimate gift to the world! ❤
when a hard as a rock guy breaks down like that, you know without a doubt that she meant the world to him. i am so sorry she suffered so much and that her kids had to witness all of it.
My Mom passed away December 21st 1995 making this time of the year very difficult for me. Watching all these Secret Santa video's go a long way to helping me make it through the Holidays with a smile despite the tears. Thank you Secret Santa for making the holidays so much more meaningful to myself and all those you help. You truly are an incredible person Secret Santa and know that you touch far more then just the people you help this time of year, Merry Christmas!
I can’t stop crying the fact that she wanted to leave him with a beautiful comfortable memory bc of the love they had for eachother and last memories… not a car, not money, gift cards… that’s 30 years of love and ongoing unimaginable love they had for eachother..
What a beautiful love story between Kjerstin and Dustin. I'm so sorry Dustin and his sons lost Kjerstin. Her love for him is evident in the effort she made to type the letter. Thank you, Secret Santa, for giving this gift. May Dustin spend many hours in peace in his backyard.
There is no more that woman could do to tell the world how proud she is of her husband, and to say how completely she was loved by him. And there was no more he could have done to say the same, than in his loyal and loving service to her right to the very end! And absolutely no doubt, a couple hand picked to be together by God!💜💗💜
So we are all just crying today? The most precious gift is knowing how she thought of him, even in her last moments.

*May the love of her life find a world full of love and heal. I wish you and yours many good and true, loving new friends to fill your lives.*
What an amazing story! I also lossed husband 2yrs ago (22+years of marriage).
Now, your wife is in no pain. If a believer, she will be waiting for you in Heaven.
You are still alive to glorify God and take care of your family.
God has just been an a-hole. Taken his wife away in a very disturbing way. And you want to GLORIFY? For that?
Some people forget that part of the marriage vows state"....in sickness and in health, until death do us part." ❤
May God and Goddess bless you and your family with many blessings and prayers and love.❤️ ❤
Stats show that over 50% of men leave their wives if they become disabled or have a serious diagnosis. Women need to keep it in mind and make sure they are financially able to survive if abandoned.
This is like something out of a movie. I am beside myself with grief and sadness. But also with hope and compassion.
I have no words other than to say I am terrified of losing my wife of 42 yrs. I fear the pain he feels every day. Thank you Secret Santa and elves for sharing this.
What an example of a man. You know he's a good cop. The people he is training are lucky.
Wow. Heart breaking. So deserving. Thank you, Secret Santa, for helping to make this world a better place.
OMG, this has been the Secret Santa surprise that has touched my heart beyond words. Thank you Secret Santa for making this wish come true for one of God's Angels to her one of a kind husband ❤❤❤❤❤

So sorry for your loss😢❤
Thinking of you ❤
so sorry. how lucky you were to have so many years but it's never enough ❤❤❤
RIP Dustin’s wife! She loved her husband so much is that she asked a secret Santa to build him a bigger padio so that he could read his book. What a kind soul we lost.
Dusten you're a hero. I cried the whole way thru. Your wife was extraordinary. Nate you only just held it together ❤
Thank you Secret Santa 🎅🏼, Nate and crew, for this special gift.🎁
It was so sad but also beautiful because his wife showed him just how much she wanted him to be happy😢
Such a beautiful example of "in sickness and in health." God bless you and your family, sir. ❤
Awe... Lord bless your heart♥️
I'm not crying...you're crying! Whoever you are, Secret Santa, thank you.
Proof that there are good men in this world who love their wives.
We don't need proof...they are everywhere
I hope that man gets a beautiful back yard he can sit and get some small piece of comfort in knowing his wife will be there by his side in spirit for every second of it. That must have been some love story they shared... This is beautiful
A love story which inspires all of us
I'm in tears. This is amazing! Thank you to her Dustin, Secret Santa, and East Idaho News.
Okay Secret Santa this one did me in. I'm a caregiver to my chronically ill husband so I know the sacrifice this man has made. I'm always blown away by the kind gestures that happen every year. I hope this secret Santa gets all the karmic blessings back because they deserve it.
Instead of having a 'be-LIE-f' (faith in/religion of) Karma you should put your hope in God who's name is written upon your DNA 🧬
Our Creator loves you and to prove it He wrote His name on You.
Seek Truth where religion is Not required 🙌
God blesses us, not karma
It was 420 Am I couldn’t sleep so I went on my phone looking RUclips and saw this my tears can’t stop flowing. That was one of the most touching things I’ve ever saw in a long time. It touched my heart Justin. I wish you all the best. God bless you.
I have a lot of growing up to do at 48. What a man, husband, and father!
Live and learn.
What matters is that your choosing to grow❤🙏🏼
Such a special gift from his wife. A garden of rememberance, of peace
Yes. Enjoying his book, reading in a shady spot.💛
This was the saddest Christmas present yet. But Dustin said it best, he is grateful for the 30 years they had together. I hope the landscapers will make a lovely backyard for Dustin as a memory from Kjerstin. Thank you Secret Santa!
Lord!, this is beautiful. RIP ma-am.
Thank you Secret Santa, Nate, and all the rest of the team for all that you do for your community. Happy Holidays everyone.
You're pretty AHHH-MAYYY-ZING yourself! This gift can help pay for gas for Nate and his team to go and do some awesome work! Thank youuuuuu! 🎄🥰🎄
That is very generous and well deserved. Merry Christmas ☃️🎄
Sending love hugs from Sydney Australia 🇦🇺 ❤🤗
❤ God Bless
It’s nice to know the world has men like this in it!
I bet you listening to that letter coming from his lovely wife was worth far more than any money can buy if not priceless it itself.
I suspect he was crying because he unexpectedly heard from his wife after she was gone. He will probably re-read that letter more times than he will sit in the shady spot, reading a book.
@ yes this is basically what I just said lol
Outstanding Secret Santa, best one yet I feel.
So sorry for your loss.
I'm so sorry for your loss, God bless you
Sending hugs to you
Stay strong, and remember all the good times you shared for so long ❤
I hope within the next year, you can return home so you can be close to family.
We had a friend who was stricken with ALS. She was so very beautiful at her core. This disease is horrible and cruel, and I wish her family and friends nothing but love. Bless all of them.
Not all heroes wear capes not all angels have wings.
The love that these two amazing people shared has moved me to tears. They only worried about each other and the people around them and didn’t dwell on themselves. The warmth of their love has moved the world. If only everyone could do their best to make the world a place filled with this kind of love. Best wishes from MI.
"I'm not supposed to be crying. I'm a policeman!" 😀 Who else is not crying? What a love for someone dying to a dedicated husband!!!!!!
I am so sorry for your loss praise God
This man is an icon..... good Man, he deserves the best
Oh Lord, please bless this man and his boys in healing their grief and moving forward. 🙏🏼
Amen🙏🏼
There is no “lord,” if there was there wouldn’t be any ALS.
@@kevinjones5560 All I can say is this, If you actually new Him, that statement would never leave your lips! I pray that someday you will get to know the Lord!
In tears. Bless him for his love and support for his wife! ❤
This was the most beautiful gift from Secret Santa. Thank you for helping her, and for helping him. ❤
That was the best Secret Santa gift ever! I can hardly see my screen to type because of all of the tears running down my face.... ❤ Thank you Secret Santa for touching so many lives... You are the ultimate gift to the world! ❤
This is what true pure love looks like❤
That officer is a legend. His children are so lucky to have a father and a role model like him. So deserving.
when a hard as a rock guy breaks down like that, you know without a doubt that she meant the world to him. i am so sorry she suffered so much and that her kids had to witness all of it.
This is by far my favourite Secret Santa. God bless this man. May he enjoy many hours in his new back yard. They were so blessed to have each other.
Wow an Angel signed him up for secret Santa 🙏🏻🙏🏻
What special love that this couple had. I had tears in my eyes also.❤❤
My Mom passed away December 21st 1995 making this time of the year very difficult for me.
Everyone involved in this are just amazing people. You all get a huge hug from all of us around the world.
God bless him. He deserves it. 100%
That dear, heroic woman😢 She was thinking of her husband while ALS was stealing even her very breath.❤ And of course he was thinking only of her.
This broke me beyond words. I’m crying. Totally ugly crying. ❤ What an incredible woman she must have been.
OMG He really deserved this. I lost my wife of 49 years in March. You made me tear up. AGAIN1 well done Secret Santa, and Nate and the team.
Take care as Christmas comes. Make a plan to get through the day.🌲🎄🤝🤍remember the good times.💞💕💞💕
May her memory be eternal
Take good care. Be gentle with yourself.
