Color Psychology: Understanding How Color Choices Affects Our Behavior

- How does color affect mood? Wear the right colors to send powerful and mood-boosting messages.
In this video, I am going to teach you the psychological effects of color on human behavior, and how colors affect mood and stress levels.
Color specialist Leatrice Eiseman explains it best, as she says, “We have a repository of information about a color. For example, the color blue is almost always associated with blue skies, which when we are children is a positive thing - it means playing outside and fun. Evolutionarily, it also means there are no storms to come. This is why it reminds us of stability and calm.”

Hi; where can I get your book and does it also cover colours..
@@danraj9762 Hi Dan! Here's one place you can find Captivate: www.amazon.com/Captivate-Succeeding-Vanessa-Van-Edwards/dp/0399564497/ref=sr_1_1?crid=LBDWLK9RVFI0&dchild=1&keywords=captivate&qid=1591075137&s=books&sprefix=captivate%2Caps%2C215&sr=1-1
I wore a bright red dress to my husband’s funeral. I did it for me and him. I was his bright red rose. I didn’t care what others thought. We were like honeymooners after 28 years!
Yeah I love the way you say blue can make you feel and look all wise. I looked back on a few photos of mine and I was in a blue shirt and I just felt by looking at it, silently strong and wise...
I will never understand why there are always a few people who use the dislike button on such informational videos... Even if you don't find it helpful, I can't imagine why someone would have so much negative emotion about it to dislike the video. Anyway, I liked it ;)
It can help tailor the types of videos that are suggested to you
Wow that was amazing! very eye opening.
Most of my clothes have a touch of red, and its nice to know what it signifies.
You never mentioned black Vanessa. I was in the Automobile business for 25 years as a salesman and Sales Manager. My favorite shirt color was black, and wore grey or black pants with them, and I had about 30 different ties I wore with the black shirts. I was waiting to hear what you said about wearing black and was disappointed when it wasn't mentioned. By the way thanks for posting your videos as I love them. I'm 69 now and still learning new things and a lot of the various things you mention in your videos I concur with from my life experiences.

Watching in 2020... and smiling as she says... Gray, not a great thing to have in abundance. And can't belive gray was the major trends to paint everything in the house...all gray.
Vanessa nice to see you.I have completed many course of yours on Udemy.
Your courses are great,i find it exciting and interesting.
Red is also an acronym in the USA. Standing for Remember Everyone Deployed. My team wears red every Friday.
Blue also assists in convenience others your speaking the truth.
Grey is a great color for a room in your home - it's neutral. It's very relaxing.
It's very boring dreary, dull, uniform and unoriginal.
@@lauraswann5543 Like your personality, Laura?
@@island661 don't mind her Dear, just an opinion don't get it personally.
Grey is a great colour. Not passive or depressing! You relate it to moodiness because it resembles the cloudy sky.
But then again..who says that cloudy weather is depressing for everyone..?
Damn man I get you !!!
and green?? great video!! :) I love this subject and I bought your course in creative life
Outofmycastle I was thinking that what about green
Green is the center of the human visual colour spectrum. Humans also see the most shades of green than any other shades of other colours. When humans begin to see colours in their infancy, , the first colours seen are shades of green. Human eyes are most sensitive to green as well.
Vanessa likes blue a lot. Even other colors are bluish on her clothes.
wow nice.. our company logo is in blue and some walls are in blue.. also my eyes are blue.. i like the information here
Living in the Pacific Northwest there were a lot of yellow on and in houses. Moved to the desert and tons of green
Very interesting 🤔
2:36 Interesting. I always considered yellow to be the number-one choice in terms of attention, productivity and creativity. Never heard of professional establishments painting their offices blue.
I had blue carpet with a lighter blue on the walls in the offices of my insurance business.
Thank you
Vanessa didn't mention the fact that wearing red (just a subtle amount) to an interview conveys confidence.
To the interview you should probably do some research ahead and wear the company logo colors :)
Thank You so much dearest sweeties 💐🙏
You’re such an inspiration ❣️
Stay Blissful Eternally 😇🕉💖
Hi Vanessa your hairstyle in this video looks good to you💗😁
Vanessa where can I get your book and does it also cover colours..
Interesting!
My favorite color is Neon Coral, does that count as red, pink or orange?
Yep ... The Orange and Black (SF GIANTS) definitely kicking ass this Season! ⚾️ 😁
Purple is the color of royalty, authority and power. We plant purple flowers to keep demons away. And yes, I am serious.
Kamaripayne ; yes purple can keep them demons away , royalty and power so Awesome 👏

I think we all would have our own ideas about color of clothes.
I am in USAF and we are totally crossed to blue where e erything around our work colored as blue as possible. Maybe thats what helps us to be the smartest branch ;)
what does pastel colors signify?
I love them
instantly attracts me
Ayla Khan I think pastel means the color has some white added.
I think they fall in the category of toned down colors, I like them too
Same
Thank you Vanessa ji
Informative
Black makes me feel very peaceful. That is why I work nights. However, all my cars have been yellow since 1996. I love yellow vehicles. The problem is, yellow is very hard to find in vehicles.
What about periwinkle? It's gray blue and purple combined but very soft and muted.
What about shades, black and white?
So is orange also good for the office?
A really good book on color is, “ Your Life In Color” , by Dougall Fraser.
I did wear Blue on my 1st date a month ago with this girl I really like. Was a great 1st date 😁.
I personally like yellow with gray, purple with olive green, and blue with red.
My husband is color blind, how can I reflect thi?
How about black and white ???
I wish the hosts would stop talking so much!
They think it’s all about them. God, shut up
what about green and yellow?
Yeh I was gonna ask about green
grey and peach or ruby and black thats what i like
I love blue color
what about pink and black?
Ohhh, I never heard about yellow or pink...
how about black, white, love these colors in clothing
They aren't colors
03:04 the male MC's joke is underrated :)
what does the beige of the sofa, chairs and carpet tell us? lol i am not even talk about the design! :D in my eyes people underestimate the influence of the interior design, architecture, etc. which surrounds us every day! BEIGE IS DEPRESSING!
I would like to know the best colour to wear to a job interview. Thank you
Color? From a guy that sees black and white and many shades of grey. Tell me how can I dress to impress 🤔. If dont know the color I am wearing?
Find a reliable, upscale store, or take a reliable friend.
i wear peach , red , rust.
You wear Red on a first date because you walk down the isle in White. From Red 🙌 to Blue 🙏 or 2 to 1. Need red to blue for white light. (Newtons color wheel)
Yeah what about green, black, brown?? But I thought the other meanings of colors sounded good, perhaps being from this culture.
They talk about green, black and brown in the ending of the video of decoding Lance Armstrong...
Missed quite a few colors
What about white and black and yellow
I went to a very highly guarded institution wearing red and the guards were very hostile at me.
There are chromo-therapies based on how of good a color matches on you.., ¡ like discrete colors, are the best matching on me, on my personality, on my life-style.., but each person is different,..
What SHADE of red? I wear crimson short sleeved tops. What she says about the sky makes me question her sanity. I can't believe they didn't mention black.
You know what red is. The precise shade is not as important as the color itself, and apart from the difference between "warm " vs. "Cool " tones, is essentially irrelevant.
My dog Sam eats purple flowers.
Red muladhara. Or root chakra. Deals with basic instincts. Food sex safety
Hmm
What about green?

It's not easy being green, unless you are a frog, or in the Army.

Brown is my fav hahahaha
It used to be said that men shouldn't wear purple. Maybe in small doses.
A girlfriend of mine was into articles such as: "Know your man by the colors of clothes he wears." I wore black a lot. Black is a color anyone can wear. I used to have red hair. It turned brown during my twenties; however, I still thought of myself as someone with red hair and dressed accordingly.
I love color, but I am a kind of "autumn man," who wears colors like brown and anthracite (medium gray) but never bright colors. I sometimes wear blue or a shade of green. Blue isn't always predictable or reliable. The sky isn't realiable. I know the sky. I look at it all the time. It can't be trusted. Clouds do a still-dance, then they move.
Maybe clouds know where they're going, but human often don't. One has to be reasonable, "have a plan," and be vigilant that you don't stray from it. I think women generally like that. I was asked more than once, "What is your plan?" I might have asked her, "Is that like the color of clothes I wear?"
Some women will drive you crazy. When I was asked by my girlfriend "Why do you wear black all the time?" I said, "Gordon Lightfoot wears black." If one looks at his "Sunday Concert," album recorded at Massey Hall in Toronto, he wore black that evening. He looked so damned cool. I began to wear black also because frequenters of coffee houses, like those in Greenwich Village, often wore black or medium gray. I liked the vibe. She didn't. She wanted me to wear bright colors.
After she became pregnant and had an abortion (everybody knew but me), she climbed on a stationary bike and rode into the future. After she dumped me, for some guy with blond hair who wore pink trousers, I tried to wear brighter colors. I was willing to wear a lavendar shirt now and then, but never anything too bright. I like the color pink, but I will never wear a pair of pink trousers.
That guy my old girlfriend dumped me for, I imagine he also wore pale green or shirts the color of apricots. He wore wingtips. Attorneys wear wingtips, not poets.
I read a lot. She didn't. But she liked poetry and that attracted me, and yes, she was very attractive, not always a good reason to date anyone. I was an aspiring poet. She didn't understand why; poetry doesn't pay. I countered, "What has that got to do with it?"
My greedy half-brother was very well off; he is richer today than he was in the Eighties; he was Senior Vice President of a large company; he has since retired. He had a house built by the ocean. One of those guys. One evening, while we were having dinner, he said, "Does poetry put food in your mouth?" Soon after, I was paid $50 for a poem published in a national magazine. Later; I was later received $100 for a poem published in another national magazine. Most of the time poets are paid in copies. When I cashed my check for $100, I treated myself to dinner. As I was taking that first bite, I said, as if my half-brother was present, "Jack, sometimes poetry puts food in your mouth."
My difficulties with women were obviously not limited to color choices. I later dated a woman whose name was Martha. The first thing she asked me was, "What do you do?" I said, "I make $1700 a month before taxes." She said, "I didn't ask you that." I said, "No, but I think that's what you want to know."
Dating can be brutal. These days, I wear what I want to wear. I'm still single and old now. By the way, that girlfriend who was so interested in what color I wore...she was a Republican; I am a Democrat. I never asked her what political party she belonged to. I couldn't date a woman who is a Republican, not after Trump and our current Republican Houses of Congress. I advise anyone dating a woman to ask her many questions. Some of you guys out there may have noticed that women ask us a lot of questions. They want to know about everyone whom we have ever dated. They rarely provide their dating history. Lastly, color choices aside, it's important to never exaggerate or inflate a story you share with a woman. Always tell the truth. If you don't, they will use it against you when they have decided you are not a good candidate for marriage. It's okay if you wear black, if you make a lot money or if you play professional hockey and wear a flipper because you were hit you in the mouth with a hockey puck.
Bruh she lives in this "amnw"
Missed the absolute one: Black 🤔
Vanessa is so pretty. What color was responsible for that? lol. But she is...
Damn! You never mention yellow - a primary color...what's up with that?
What about eggshell? We like eggs?
It's a shade of white. Don't be silly.
I'm going to wear blue on my first date don't assume how i want to appear that's stupid
Colours do talk 😂😂🥰
Purple doesn't appear in nature? How about sunsets, flowers, rainbows? 😂
Listy she said it does , just rarely
the Knicks stink smh 😪
Hi, do you know I fallen in love with you
