Excellent video, because you broke into chapters. "The outlet for the disposal may be switched." DING DING DING. That's why when we switched the plugs in the outlet, the disposal worked on both outlets. When the switch was activated. I spent 4 hours trying to fix what wasn't broken.
Memo to disposal makers. Put a very bright sticker on the DW drain tube inlet to the disposal. The videos I watched said I had to remove the disposal, punch out the plug and re-install the unit. I remember putting this in about 5 years ago and there were no plans for a repeat. I used an easy out drill bit and drilled most of the plug out. Most of the plastic fell to the floor. This is not hard, but once every 20 years is not often enough.
Good video, my first dishwasher install. I am thinking I should have taken a picture of the 3 piece bottom panel coming off, because now that the dishwasher is standing up, I am having trouble finding where the 3 pieces go back in the bottom of dishwasher. Any help would be appreciated Mike
I have same dishwasher only ours is hardwired...our outlet is too far and ive heard using extension cord isnt adviseable...my problem now is our hardwire is colored blue and white...i dont know why...does that mean black to blue? And then white to white? Theres no ground wire either for hardwire...
The hardwire in the outlet is blue and white? Blue is usually for a 3 to 4 way switch. Usually that would be for lighting. Was this what the dishwasher was hooked up to before?

You are correct when using a compression fitting. I was using a standard FIP fitting.
