Main point being the Home depot installers left me hanging since it shares a breaker with another appliance. I'm going to try to do it myself but would rather not. Any advice would be appreciated!

      The dishwashers come with clips (little angle brackets) that snap into the dishwasher, then you just screw it to the bracket that he just installed. It’s different for every model and in the manual. He’s just showing you how to install this bracket so your cabinets/top can accept the dishwasher.

    How do you fasten the last two screws? They look too short?
    Also do the holes in the dishwasher frame requirevpredrilling?

    • @TheAppliancePlug
      @TheAppliancePlug  Год назад +1

      The short screws are used to secure the dishwasher to the added under counter bracket. Most screws that are included with the dishwasher will be too long and have a different thread so they won’t work. You shouldn’t need to pre drill any holes. You will just need to add the mounting brackets that are included with your dishwasher if they aren’t pre attached. Once you push the dishwasher in place, one of the holes in the added under counter bracket will line up with the hole in the dishwasher mounting bracket. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching!

    • @jdmb03
      @jdmb03 6 месяцев назад +1

      Fill the previous holes/cracks with wood filler to strengthen them. Reinstall the brackets, this should keep it from rocking. Also make sure your dishwasher legs are adjusted properly and level.

    So how do you secure the dishwasher to the mounting bracket?

    • @TheAppliancePlug
      @TheAppliancePlug  8 месяцев назад

      Depends on the dishwasher, but usually the mounting bracket comes with the unit. There is usually an indentation that allows for you to bend the bracket into the unit. I would follow the instructions based on your specific unit.

    So I'm renovating my kitchen and there's no flooring under my dishwasher therefore I have about 2 in of space between the counter and the dishwasher. Do you suggest that I put plywood underneath the dishwasher to close the gap a bit before putting the bracket in?

    • @TheAppliancePlug
      @TheAppliancePlug  Год назад +1

      Great question! I wound certainly do that. However, if possible I would add tile or the same flooring in the kitchen under the dishwasher so it’s even with the remaining flooring in the kitchen. This way if there are ever any leaks under the dishwasher the water will flow to the front and you can catch it early on. Otherwise, years will pass and lots of damage before you’ll notice. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!

    You don’t finish 🤔how to attach to the dishwasher??

    • @TheAppliancePlug
      @TheAppliancePlug  Год назад +1

      That will vary based on the model dishwasher you’re installing. You will want to reference the installation instructions for your dishwasher. I have posted a number of dishwasher installation videos showing the mounting process. Check them out on my channel to see if your model is one of them. If you’re using this bracket, the only difference would be using the mounting screws it comes with rather than the mounting screws the dishwasher comes with because the mounting screws that normally come with dishwashers are too long to work with this bracket. If you let me know the model number of the dishwasher you’re installing, I can possibly send you additional details to help you get it secured. Let me know if I can further help. Good luck!

    Warning: this video does not show securing the dishwasher tabs to the mounting bracket. Be advised that is EXTREMELY hard to tighten the self tapping screws that come with the bracket, into the bracket. It is very easy to strip out the screw head.
    A less expensive solution is to order the proper side mounting tabs ... if the cabinet cavity allows this.

    • @jdmb03

      Dishwasher tabs should be universal so just purchase longer tabs. I can't imagine the screw holes being a different diameter.

  • @rebekahwagner2151

    This is what we need to have done correctly. Our installer messed up the job. It was slightly short to the top of the countertop so he used this bracket (and bent it all out of shape) and a piece of wood from the dishwasher packaging. Split the board where he forced screws into the wood at an angle and didn't align anything properly. The only thing he did right was get it level, but it looks so bad...

      @@johnc1280 Another approach I've seen is to glue a wooden strip under the counter (certain appliance makers recommend that), and run the top screws into that. You'd use epoxy (or perhaps a slather of silicone). But over time with steam that might let go.
      In my case I simply used the side holes because the opening was almost perfectly sized, and I didn't drive the screws in all the way so as to not distort the sheet metal. I could have shimmed it, but decided I didn't need to.

    • @greghenry5187

      @@fromagefrizzbizz9377 - Yeah, this is why I'm here. The previous owner did that and I've been here less than a year and the glue has dried out and come loose. Granted, he may not have used the suitable glue, but it never looked like a permanent solution anyway.

  • @candudaddy
    @candudaddy Год назад

    Not bad, but does not address many issues. What do you do if the cabinet installer does not leave a full 24” space for the DW? The bracket will not go between the 2 adjacent cabinets. Also, the reason he did not show the actual install of the last 2 screws is that they are too long! When you try to screw them up through the predrilled holes they act like a Jack and bend the bracket down away from the underside of the cabinet top. That is also why you cannot cut the bracket down to a length to fit and epoxy it to the bottom of the cabinet top.
    If you get a stone or stone-like top, insist on drilled in epoxied in nuts in the right locations to secure the DW.
