    This video from Sears PartsDirect shows you what to do if your dishwasher is tilting forward out of the cabinet. We show you how to reattach your dishwasher frame to the top of your counter if it’s come loose along with an alternative to mounting your dishwasher to the top of the cabinet. If you have granite counters that you can’t drill holes into, you can mount your dishwasher to the sides of your cabinet. We’ll walk you through the whole process from start to finish.

    Sears is no longer a company because they didnt have this guy doing every piece of advertising they could find. That was the best video I've ever watched and it is SOLELY because of him.

    THIS is what I've been looking for! My husband was bound and determined to drill into our granite counter to attach the dishwasher. Thank goodness that I'm the brains in this relationship.

    I've put in probably 50 dishwashers and found this to be a great video. This guy has done the work and knows what he's talking about.
    He really caught my ear was when he was talking about breaking the mounting brackets. He said, "I know, it's scary to break something, but trust me" and then goes on to say "these instructions come directly from the installation guide".
    When I heard him say that I thought, now this guy has done this kinda stuff before. Over the years I learned that you can't be scared of breaking something, you just have to know, or believe that you can fix it, or put whatever it is back together. If you stay scared you won't be able to do all of these simple things.
    Anyway, great video!

      So true...I broke my top mounting brackets removing the lg dishwasher or so I thought...just broke off the tabs...can't figure how my professional installed them because no screws were visible and the granite top was not removed. He must have taken the machine apart. In any case, there was no way I could mount it at the top and simply used those old brackets for side mounting. There is always a way even when you break something. This video helped and made me think to reuse those brackets.

    Omg, such a helpful video. I had my dishwasher installed by professionals and they attached the anchor to the top when there was nothing to even anchor to, so my dishwasher has never been anchored properly. Now I can fix it myself, and anchor it the right way.

    Thank you! You are the only person in all the videos who even mention to use a pliers to bend and secure the bracket. I've been frustrated with my GE tipping when the dishwasher top rack is loaded. I've replaced a Miele (wished that I didn't) which has 4 screw holes on the side for folks with granite along with the two on the top if a formica countertop was in the kitchen. Thanks for the video, I'm on it!

    At 0:31-1:01, the man from Sears PartsDirect says you have two options to deal with stripped screw holes. I'd like to offer a third option. I have successfully used a common way to deal with stripped holes in particleboard or wood, so I can use the original screws. You pack the hole with pieces of toothpicks that have been covered with glue. You can break the toothpicks to the appropriate length so that, when inserted, they are flush with the surface. (My toothpicks are made with hard wood, and they don't cut easily with a knife. I break them by hand so I won't cut myself, and it's faster. I might have to trim a bit with an X-Acto knife.) Then I coat the toothpicks with Elmer's carpenter's glue (which is water-resistant) and insert them into the hole. You can install the screws while the glue is still wet, because you are screwing into the wooden toothpicks, which will be held in place by the pressure of the screw in the hole. For a hole that is barely stripped, I have seen cases where one or two pieces of toothpick were inserted without glue before screwing. I do not have experience with Gorilla Glue, which is waterproof. It is my understanding that Gorilla glue dries rock hard, so I would certainly want to install screws before Gorilla Glue dries.

    • @searspartsdirect

      Your model of dishwasher may not be set up for installing side mounts. You may need to install a floor mount (www.searspartsdirect.com/part-number/4378968/0022/665.html) to anchor the dishwasher in the cabinet as shown in this video: www.searspartsdirect.com/article/how-to-anchor-a-dishwasher-to-the-floor-video.html.

    If you've already turned off the power in the house electrical box, is it necessary to then go into the box in the dishwasher and detach the wires there?

    • @straycat1081
      @straycat1081 4 года назад +2

      Yes, if you don't have enough slack.

    • @mariconnors5670

      Once the house power is turned off it is off in the electrical box too. And, if need be can be detached if not enough slack. Thanks Stray Cat.

    what size screws do i need for side mounting? do they sell a kit with brackets and screws?

    • @searspartsdirect
      @searspartsdirect  7 лет назад +2

      You can use any size screw that fits through the side mounting bracket and firmly secures the dishwasher to the cabinet without damaging the cabinet. Here’s a link for the side-mounting bracket kit (including screws) that fits many Kenmore dishwashers: www.searspartsdirect.com/part-number/8212560/0022/665.html.
