In this second video of three, I show an in-depth guide on rebuilding the rear calipers of the Toyota Corolla AE86, including replacement of the brake lines. This is useful for any Toyota of the same age and even more recent vehicles, as for example my Toyota Corolla G6R, from 1999, shares the same mechanism in the rear brakes.
I also installed a set of Goodridge Braided Lines in the rear, to upgrade the feel of the pedal and replace my worn and old lines.
Check out part 1 of the series that covers the Rebuilding the Front Calipers here:

very informative and easy to follow, thank you! Ive read toyota manuals, but you know old books have very poor quality images in it. Doing the same work right now for my AE111. Thank you once more!

Great video, I bought the sst 09756-00011 (€3:80 from main dealer) for corrolla Levin ae111 brake caliper, it works for most if not all rear Toyota Corrolla calipers. Rebuilt them today thanks to this Video. Though I changed the seal under the arm that the hand brake cable attaches to, the 1 that the spring sits on.

Hello David. Of course I can tell you where, but you will be disappointed... I got it from my local Toyota dealership... But they had to input the number and were a bit reluctant to sell me that tool at first. Anyway, they are nice people so in the end they sold me that... Call a few dealerships around your location, I am sure you will get one to sell you the tool--- after all it is used in later corollas (1998, for example) to rebuild the rear brakes. Good luck!

Amazing videos. I have a simple question. Where do I screw the caliper bracket? I have a Corolla E11 with rear drum brakes and I want to convert to disc brakes. All the parts are compatible and I can find them. My only concern os the hub. The diagrams say that there are two versions, one for drums and one for discs. Also, diagrams show that the rear caliper has the hand brake system included but it also shows smaller drum pads for hand brake system. It means they can both compatible. I’ll go for the easiest way if the hub sista the bracket. Let me know. Thanks!

Nice video, but you forgot to change handbrake crank seal. You had also good luck that your handbrake crank bearing is not shot. That usually gets broken or loose and you cant buy that from Toyota, but luckily you find it from bearing shop.

the only seal that matters didn't get replaced. these type of caliper seize up from the e-brake lever. there is a seal under the lever that corrodes.

Great Video! I am having trouble finding the 09756-00010 sst you used to compress the rear caliper e-brake spring. The dealer ship couldn't provide the tool with the part number. Are there any alternatives?

    Hi João,
Once upon a time i've seen your explanation about this toyota lube in a tube, but now i can't find informatin about it, could you please answer what grease is this (rose colour in a tube) you have used it for lubing boots, caliper itself, pins and so on.
    Thanks,
    Dima

Hey Dima how're you doing? Check out part 1 of the rebuild series, I placed the link in the description. Minute 1:35 of the first video shows the grease in detail, here is the part number, take it to your Toyota dealer and they'll fix you up with a tube: 08897-02106. It is especially for rubbers, they actually name it Rubber Grease in the tube.
      Enjoy and good luck!

BOB Billy Check your local auto parts store, they sell the stuff. I recommend the Ferodo brand, very quiet and smooth breaking combo.
