People die but love stays.
Honestly, I won’t know what to do with myself when I lose my mother but this line makes me hope I’ll still feel a part of my mom in the universe when she takes her last breath
But what'll happen if everyone who felt that love, passed
Will it still stay, or will it pass with them one piece at a time?
This kind of love can never die. Even when Earth is done with humans.

@@03.ximipa3ahmadrinofarosmu3at that point, does it matter? If the person the love was intended for is gone? And arguably, the love does stay if you believe in an afterlife.
Such a wonderful heartbreaking scene,I don't why Netflix cancelled this series after one season. It's a true cartoon masterpiece.

I don't think it got cancelled. More on the lines of it just ended naturally and there was nothing else to say. Also they may have had a hard time trying to find the right podcasts to be an episode

Duncan saying, “…Well I love you very much obviously.” gets me every time. I just burst into tears. To tell your parent at the end of their life that you love them just to say it, knowing you don’t need to, but saying it out loud anyways, like it’s a period at the end of a life-long sentence.
Correct. Words don’t have to be spoken but sometimes they confirm to the other person what they already know
This episode always hurt my so much. I'm always so terrified of my mother going, especially since she had cancer. I actually cried watching this thinking of her. This show is a masterpiece.
Yes, I think about my mom leaving and how I’ll cope but the best I can do is cherish the times I spend with her and remind myself that this time is precious
I feel the same way my grandma passed away when I was young and this made me think of her

The fact that the podcast at this moment breaks the fourth wall and hes no longer Clancy, and shes talking to Duncan, just powerful.
It’s taken from the two podcast interviews with his mother as she was diagnosed with cancer. She had passed away long before the airing of Midnight Gospel.
I love the way his mom is drawn in this entire episode, shes just so lovingly designed and seems so nice.
I maybe reading into it to much, but I love how they represent the emotions here, the son planet is breaking faster than the mom planet, reason is much devastated trying to hide his emotion, the grief and eventually death of his mother he gives false pretence of nonchalant but it really breaking him apart, while the mom planet even closer to the black hole doesn't break as fast as the son, she accepted the inevitability of her death, but wouldn't and can't change any aspect of so she's lives her life like any body else, even in her death her love is always going to be alive, her love is her son

My grandmother just died. She's been in my life for 32 years and has been an invaluable piece of my life. I really feel this right now. It's only been a week but it feels longer. I miss her and I'm going to miss her for the rest of my life. But I've loved her for so much longer than she's been gone and I'm going to keep on loving her forever. The love she gave all of us is still strong inside me, and it's never going to go away.
The best way to keep someone alive is to keep them in your memories and also talk about them. Sometimes we’ll talk about loved ones at family gathering that have already passed and it’s always joyful and it’s a somber feeling once we remember they’re really gone, but it’s for a moment we really forget that they aren’t here with us bc for moment it’s like they’re alive again spending time with us
I feel this. My grandmother just passed away too. Happened 3 days ago and it’s still sinking in. You’re not alone.
My mother passed away last year, 2021, mid-September from cancer that was spotted in late May. I cannot stress how many times I said this to people and how important it is for people to hear this:
If you have a feeling, whether it's an instinct or gut feeling, that someone is going to go soon, you need to tell them whatever it is you have to say. Whether it's an "I love you", something you're proud of, an apology, anything that you need to say, do it. Because you never know when you'll have another chance to say it. You don't ever need the "should'a would'a could'a's" as I phrase it.
My mother knew just how much we (my family, friends, and I) loved her. Everyone was able to come and give last goodbyes. And she was able to tell all of us, especially me, just how much she loved us all, right before she couldn't speak anymore.
There's not a day that goes by where I don't miss her. I still cry here and there. I still mourn. I still think about what she would say, do, how she feels, talks, her voice, touch and smell. How she would do this, that, and the other things. But I talk about it with my loved ones.
I keep pushing forward because she wants me to. Because I need to and not just for me, but my loved ones.
I'd rather cry because I miss her for everything she's left, than to never cry because I never knew her, especially since I'm adopted.
The important thing for me is reminding myself of just how special I was and still am and how much of an impact I made to her as she made to me.
No piece of media has ever made me cry so hard. I was SOBBING when I first saw this.
After that episode ended i cried for like 30 minutes non stop.

I think what I love the most about this scene is that a couple other times a guest would accidentally call him Duncan instead of Clancy. In that moment though, it's Duncan's mom speaking directly to him, which is what makes it such a heartbreaking but beautiful scene.
Literally watch this episode drunk with a friend and me in her were in each other's arms crying for at least 20 minutes which proceeded with both of us calling our mothers
Lol yeah I called my mom too and just talked to her for a good hour just thanking her for putting up with all my shit as a kid
I lost my mom December 2021, only a month after she was diagnosed with cancer, but also over 20 years suffering with Cushings Disease.
This scene fucking breaks me. I miss her so much. And it's true, the love hasn't gone anywhere.

Omg, the fact he got to say goodbye to his mom before she passed is such a blessing and I’m so grateful he recorded her so we could all experience it as well

Its a bueatiful thing to love someone so much that you can cry for them as they go. Its picturesque
my dad passed when i was 14. i watched this episode at 21 and it truly healed something inside of me.
I specifically love the fact that as the mother crumbles while entering the void, Clancy slowly crumbles as well, but not completely, possibly symbolizing how he loses parts of himself as he loses his mother
I went to tell my mum I loved her the next day because of this episode

Three years. It's been three year and I'm still crying at this series and it's finale.
Watching this scene while tripping with 400 lsd was one of the most surreal experiences I have had.

Just finished the last episode. First time watching. The last scene made tears fall down my face for the first time in years. Beautiful. I'm not afraid of death. Love my life. I think too much on so much and have learned to just live. This show helped solidify that even more. Love this life. This world. I hate to see its evils, but I love to see its beauty.
I love my family so much. I love them more than myself. I don’t know how I’m going to deal with the pain of losing my mother and father.

It definitely hits all the right emotional notes without insisting upon itself
And it also did a great job with its use of visual gags while also using a podcast for the audio

My mom passed of cancer when I was 16. It was an extremely difficult experience to say the least. This episode coupled with a large dose of mushrooms helped me process a lot of that

Why was it canceled?
Not enough viewership. Animation is very expensive so it was cut to save costs since it wasn't bringing in the views.
