I just listened to this entire work - absolutely fantastic!
A quick question: Here and there the violins play a specific type of ornament, e.g. in the opening Sinfonia ruclips.net/video/t-ZpFZEoS8k/видео.html (shortly after 1:45), a kind of slow trill, but very narrow, less than a half tone. It sounds kind of oriental … is this historical? Does it have a name?

I just saw the whole thing live and it was amazing! I really liked the part near the end where Joseph reveals his identity to his brothers, and Elam chose to use the melody from 1:25 there too
