The more you listen to Oingo Boingo, the more you will like them.
The Oingo Boingo is the most energetic band I have ever seen...great stuff....
Very underrated band. The had a bunch of hit back in the 80s
He give me Freddy mercury vibes ... dude dope
Criminally underrated.
@@bodies2magenta I agree
The Lead singer is Danny Elfman. He's done the soundtrack to a bunch of hit movies and wrote the theme song to The Simpson's.
Danny Elfman, the singer has written the score for tons of movies, including Batman, Edward Scissorhands, the Simpsons theme, all the music for nightmare before Christmas, and many others.
Besides scoring Nightmare he's the voice of Jack Skellington as well singing his songs. He's a musical genius.
Welcome aboard! My brothers and I were fortunate enough to see OINGO BOINGO , live in concert numerous times in Los Angeles during the '80s. There are many great songs on multiple OINGO BOINGO albums. Please consider listening to more songs while also reading the lyrics.
As a 57 year old Gen X'er, I love seeing Millenials appreciate Oingo Boingo.
My introduction to Oingo Boingo was my freshman year of college (a loooong time ago). I had never heard of them, but my dorm mate had an autographed drum head decorating his wall from a concert he went to.
They were AWESOME in concert
These guys were so wicked good live. Obviously DE is a frickin genius, as a composer AND singer. And yes, creepy factor of 9.5.
By the way, Danny Elfman recently released some pandemic music that's pretty stinkin' good. It's actually a little less playful & bouncy, more sinister, with more elements of punk rock. Kind of snarling vocals AND music.
D. Elfman is NOT & has never been a stationary target when it comes to pigeonholing him as a _____________ (insert genre here, like the "new wave" label people like to stick him & boingo with). In reality he & boingo had elements of punk, new wave, rock, and even ska & big band stuff.
Hot factor of 9.5...
Have you ever seen The Nightmare Before Christmas? The singer Danny wrote all the songs for that film, and also does the singing voice for the main character, Jack Skellington.
Oingo Boingo is AMAZING as a band goes. Check out any of the following Oingo Boingo songs:
Insanity
Dead Man’s Party
Stay
Weird Science
No Spill Blood
So *that's* what Danny Elfman looks like! A few people I know do a music podcast, and one of them geeks out about Oingo Boingo and Elfman so hard, it's kinda adorable.
I didn't realise they went so hard like this though, props to composer man
I was lucky enough to grow up in Southern California during the 80's where we could see Oingo Boingo pretty much every weekend!! Joined the Navy and introduced their music to many ports around the world!👍✌
Teez Danny Elfman went on to write the musical scores for Batman, Edward Scissors Hand, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Alice in Wonderland, Spider-Man 1 & 2, Good will Hunting, Men in Black, The Simpsons and Pee Wees Big Adventure just to name a few.
1980s New Wave genre! Other good Oingo songs are "Dead Man's Party" and "Stay".
I love Boingo reaction videos. People wonder why I was obsessed with this band for 10 years. This is why. xD
More Oingo Boingo. Private Life, Dead Man's Party, Grey Matter...
Watching Danny Elfman block one ear to make sure his high note is in tune...tells me all I need to know about his musicianship.
One of my favorite 80s band. There's a smile on my face..
Try out Oingo Boingo's "Dead Man's Party"; a good one!!
Yes! Great tune!
Good on you for checking out Boingo. They will grow on you, there is such depth and complexity in the music -- even though it sounds like 80's pop. Much more going on.
I have never seen such a tight live performance - if it weren't for the video you'd think it was a studio track. He just produced a song 3 months ago - "Happy" and 3 weeks ago a single called "Sorry".
He was rigorous. My mom's best friend played the vibraphone and sang. She was in her 40's and was shocked when they made her up and dressed her in half green half white. She is a professional musician and thought Elfman was a genius.😁
Saw these guys a couple times back in the day. Danny Elfman has a genius voice!
Go look at Elfman's movie/TV musical score credits, it's far beyond impressive.
hey thanks for sharing, i was blessed to be there , they played the Port Chester theater a day later, and i went to that too , still a fond memory of the "back when" days they sounded just like the soundstage album double CD set , "boingo alive" i mean just like the album... they were awesome , still are awesome.
Amazing band!
Danny Elfman is an incredible artist. Listen to his two NEW twisted singles vidoes on RUclips, Happy and Sorry. First new rock, well rock and orchestral now, in 30 years! I was fortunate enough to meet him about 7 times and saw Oingo Boingo over 60 times between 1983 and 1995. Check out Oingo Boingo Farewell now on RUclips. That is me with the Boingin license plate, and the Last Time and Goodbye Goodbye signs.
vote has a story to tell, how lucky !!! :)
One of the tightest sets I've seen. Amazing
Oingo Boingo is great! Try “dead mans pary” “ No one lives forever” “weird science” and “grey matter”. Love the reviews! Keep up the good work!!!
An amazing band.
Oingo Boingo - led by Danny Elfman (super famous film composer now) - was out of Los Angeles and were the soundtrack of my youth. A huge band. Intricate arrangements. Horns. Badass players on every instrument. Check out a couple thingsllive from their farewell concert. You will not regret it and it will put you in a whole different stratosphere from other reaction channels. Check out "Grey Matter" or "Insanity".... mind boggling.
One of the greatest songs ever.
My first 2 concerts were Oingo Boingo shows in 1987. I was 16. These guys were the '80s in LA. You can spend a few weeks with them. The lead singer is Danny Elfman, a genius with a massive list of credits in Hollywood and on TV (he did the theme to The Simpsons).
They also had brief appearances in the movies"Weird Science" (they did the theme song as well) and " Rodney Dangerfield's Back to School"
I love this song! Used to see these guys all the time in the 80's and early 90's. The lead singer has gone on to compose amazing soundtracks often for director Tim Burton.
Hell yeah! Seems Jack is like minded. I’ve requested this song plenty!
I've been doing a tour of reaction vids to Oingo Boingo as I was the salt part of a salt ad pepper combo that cruisesd the streets of Vancouver, WA and graduated HS in 1985. we were both trumpet players (I sucked, he got a scholarship) and were disappointed in horn contributions to pop at the time. Listen to any Phil Collins song at the time and you'll understand. Elfman and Barteck the guitarist are laying the groundwork for over 100 soundtrack credits to date. check out their "" to watch these guys bang on xylophone creations of Elfman. Elfman at 18 toured Europe with his bro as part of a vaudeville act, then at 19 went through some African countries (No, Africa is not a country, for those that are confused by names of contents), but had to return to the US because he contracted malaria. He hooked back up with his bro to create his firs soundtrack in 2 weeks to which is a musical that has one character in blackface for about 30 seconds at the beginning of the film. other than that, a solid musical. off to my next stop!
They had the best Halloween concerts. It was a shame Danny Elfman had to give it up due to a condition that, had he continued in the band, would have left him deaf.😭
Dead Man' Party from the same concert is also pretty amazing :) Peace!
Oingo Boingo's studio recordings tended to have that classic 80s bouncy, synthy sound but live, the guitar sound really cuts through and that happy, bouncy quality becomes much more sinister sounding.
EDIT: My favorite versions of their older songs are on the Boingo Alive album.
Greatest band ever! Danny is the greatest musician of all time. Prolific work
Unlike many reactors, this dude is clearly giving a genuine reaction. A lot of reactors seem like their pandering to their audience a bit. This man right here is legit. 👍🏼 Hell yeah. P.S. Oingo Boingo is my shit. Bought all their tapes with my lawn mowing money when I was nine. 😂 Yeah, I’m talkin cassettes y’all.
Danny Elfman is an absolute madman. I loved Oingo Boingo since high school and went to so many of their Halloween concerts! I miss them :( Take a listen to Grey Matter or Dead Man's Party, No One Lives Forever...or Pain...so many great songs!
I discovered this group 3 months ago and I am completely addicted. I am jealous of Californians born in the 60s in France this group is not very well known and the album difficult to find
When he was very young before he wrote these songs he got to tour France with his brother’s theater troupe and play violin which he had just picked up after four months.
@@nuclearcatbaby1131 ahah yes I know, it seems to me that he played for jerome savary a great French director. And yet he is only famous for his film music which is grandiose. It is thanks to cinema that I discovered this great group
I’ve been a fan since a kid in the 80s……it’s never too late to be born again for Boingo lol.
Oingo boingo did the theme song for weird science and Danny Elfman did the voice of Jack in nightmare before Christmas and wrote all of the music as well.
Nothing bad ever happens to me .
Or gray matter.
Oingo boingo
You need to check out early Oingo Boingo they are just a remarkable band and Danny Elfman is now a brilliant composer....would love to see you listen to their song no spill blood it's a reference to a old horror movie which Mr. Elfman absolutely loves and see if you enjoy it.
Danny Elfman is genius. Another similar genius is Mark Mothersbaugh (Devo). They’ve both done movie scores, tv themes and scores, and had tons of hits.
“Dead Man’s Party” performed by them in the Rodney Dangerfield movie Back to School.
“Weird Science” from the movie of the same name.
“Goodbye-Goodbye” from Fast Times at Ridgemont High.
I saw Oingo Boingo a bunch and Devo twice love these damn bands
@@GhostCave I never had the opportunity to see Oingo Boingo. But I did get to see Devo once. I left that show wondering why I’d waited so long to see them (I’m thinking it was maybe 2011?). They were incredible. I wish I’d had enough money to buy an energy dome, but at least I got a t shirt. 💜
Check out GREY MATTER. ✌
Danny Elfman, John Avila (my buddy), Johnny "Vatos" Hernandez, Steve Bartek, Sam Phipps are all amazing artists. I was lucky enough to see them live many times starting with the Dead Man's Party tour at the Greek in 84. The next 10 years was one hell of a fun ride.
lol I love your reaction to Danny smile 🤣
Kick-ass song/band!
He is the singing voice of "Jack" in "The Nightmare Before Christmas "
Any man who smiles like that is a sick man. Lol
Underworld-- Underneath the Radar
My Man.
You already know! 🙌🔥🔥🔥
So so damn good
excellent tune.
Recently subscribed. I gotta fire these off:
"You Belong To The City" -Glen Frye
'We Didn't Start The Fire" -Billy Joel
"Highwayman" -Highwaymen
"Cult Of Personality" -Living Colour
I think you'd really enjoy this:
"Cuts You Up" -Peter Murphy
I was at this gig
I wouldn't call Stay a quintessential OB song, but it's my favorite. Worth a reaction because 1) it's a great song and 2) I've yet to find a Stay reaction video.
Watch “Back to School” with Rodney Dangerfield for more Oingo Boingo.
Lead singer from one go bourneville also wrote The Simpsons wrote the music for nightmare before Christmas and played Jack skeleton and nightmare before Christmas look up Danny elfman
If you've seen any Tim Burton films. Then you've heard his music before. Danny Elfman is a legend!
I’d say, listen to some of the earlier stuff. Only a Lad, Nothing to Fear and Good for your Soul albums.
I like you! Game, meet game-- Danny Elfman is a fucking genius, and so, so, so DARK...
Haha. I once attributed a Richard Elfman video incorrectly. Cool. I’m sorry. It was here comes the rocket man. Thank you Richard Elfman. I’m still mad at myself.
Yeah. I emailed Richard elfman a bad link. Buh.
😂 Imma just giggle alot! I was at this show. 🤷🏿♀️ I was at every Ritz show but that's not the point..... Mom always had trouble remembering how to say their name when they called to let me know I was on the list. 🙄 JHS & HS was VERY interesting living in NYC. 😉🐰 #ENRGYZRBunny
Come on bro, one of the best bands. The singer does all the Jack skellington vocals and music for Nightmare Before Christmas. Lots of music scores. But this band was the shit.
What made you choose this song?
#FunFact 🦇 Danny Elfman did theme song for Pee Wees Playhouse and work with Tim Burton on EVERY movie he did. Batman Movies, Edward Scissorhands, BeetleGuesse, Nightmare Before Christmas and many more. 🐰 #ENRGYZRBunny
Stay from any Ritz show would be another live song with a beat you get lost in. 😉 And yes, we get more "creepy smiles" from Danny. 🙄 He was an odd one. 😏🐰 #ENRGYZRBunny
😂😂😂😂😊 Yes Danny could "creep you out" with a smile & a look! 😏🐰 #ENRGYZRBunny
Hi Teez, oingo boingo sounds like a sound coming out of the bedroom, 🤨🤨 Just joking but great song and reaction. Sound a bit soft though.
Yea I had my cpu turned down on accident lol I fixed it tho 😅
@@TeezMcGee okay, I thought maybe I am going deaf.
You guys missed the 80's music I grew up with. The music today SUCKS compared to the 80's
